Chapter 959
Chapter 959
Daniel’s chubby little arms flailed about.
In the next instant, he was scooped up, the man helping him to turn on the faucet.
Daniel washed his hands and dried them with a paper towel, uttering a crisp “thank you” before he left.
“Does it hurt? Do you need to go see a doctor?
Daniel shook his head, meandering out of the restroom.
“Daniel,” Brittany noticed his gait was off and squatted down. “What’s wrong, sweetheart?” Daniel pursed his lips. “Took a tumble.”
Brittany’s maternal instincts kicked in, and she wrapped her arms around him, checking for injuries. “How did you fall?”
“Mom, please…stop,” Daniel, young but aware of his budding modesty, crinkled his face, refusing a thorough check.
As mother and son reached an impasse, a voice interrupted, “Ms. Dustin, what brings you here?”
“Mr. Hartman.”
Brittany hadn’t expected to bump into Dominic.
Dominic caught sight of Daniel’s flushed cheeks and pieced it together. “Sorry about before, I accidentally bumped into him. Is he okay?”
“No, I bumped into him.” Daniel clung to Brittany’s hand. He was too small, and when he bumped into someone, he just bounced off!
It was so embarrassing! He must work out tonight and grow tall and strong like Daddy!
“Oh, I see,” Brittany tugged at Daniel, “Daniel, apologize to the gentleman.”
It was only proper for the boy who hadn’t watched his step to say sorry.
“Sorry, mister.”
Dominic shook his head. “No worries.”
“Where’s Zac?”
“Still mingling.”
Į
Dominic was intrigued by Brittany; someone who could snag Isaac was no ordinary catch. “Have you eaten? Care to join me?”

“No thanks, we’ve had our fill.”
After a brief exchange, they went their separate ways.
Back home, Brittany rang Charles. “I saw Estelle today. It seems she’s still involved with Dominic?”
“Yes, Dominic is quite taken with her.”
It was obvious Dominic had real feelings for Estelle. They’d been together since college, and by now, their bond had long surpassed the typical couple.
Sadly, the Hartmans would never accept a fallen heiress.
“Did you dig up anything on Estelle’s brother?”
“Still looking.” Charles’s voice wavered.
“Are you feeling okay?” Brittany sensed something was off.
“No, just had a bit to drink.” Charles dared not glance at the man behind him. “I’ll keep on it and let you know as soon as I find something.”
After hanging up, Charles faced Landon with a headache. “Landon, what’s with
shadowing me all the time? What do you want?”
Landon’s gaze was deep. “Marry me, and I’ll stop following you.”
Charles flared up. “Are you sick? I’m a guy!”
How could two men get married?
Landon stood up, closing in.
Charles was worldly, but for some reason, he was always scared of Landon. Instinctiv backing up, he found himself cornered and had no choice but to face Landon.
“Landon, I was wrong in Craneville. I shouldn’t have… But you know we can’t marry.”
If only he’d known better than to mess with Landon.
Landon, the epitome of a wolf in sheep’s clothing, pushed up his glasses. “Are you really a man?”
Charles felt cornered, avoiding Landon’s gaze. “Maybe I should show you my ID?”
Landon’s finger trailed down his chest, steadily moving lower until he seized the jugular. “Why bother with an ID when the body speaks volumes?”
Charles’ eyes widened in shock. “Landon!”
