Chapter 930
Chapter 930
Ivy stepped forward. “Ms. Dustin, is this your kid?”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
Daniel squirmed uncomfortably in Brittany’s arms. He was about to turn six, and Daddy had told him he was too big to be carried by Mommy. And Mommy would get tired.
Brittany thought he was just being shy, so she set him down and took his hand instead. “Has Daniel been giving you any trouble?”
Ivy shook her head. “Not at all. I really like him.”
And she meant it.
In a way, she actually had a soft spot for Brittany, especially after seeing how she’d helped out a waitress at the diner, which greatly enhanced her respect for her. However, with Brittany’s return, it spelled trouble for Holden’s plans.
Brittany, unaware of Ivy’s thoughts, was eager to leave with Daniel. “Your Highness, I should get going.”
Ivy nodded her acknowledgment.
After watching Brittany and Daniel leave, Ivy got back to work.
Once Brittany and Daniel were settled in the car, Brittany handed Daniel his water bottle. “That lovely lady you were with, how do you know her?”
“She thought I was good at the game, so she played with me.” Daniel took a sip. “Mommy, am I cool or what?”
Daniel had always been frail, but he’d gotten stronger over the past year.
Brittany, touched, pinched his cheek gently. “Yes, you are!”
“That means I can definitely protect my little brother or sister!” Daniel puffed out his chest proudly. “Mommy, when will you give me a little brother or sister?”
The mood in the car shifted instantly.
Brittany thought of the child they had recently lost, and her expression turned sad.
“Daniel, that’s enough.” Isaac, who had also been reminded of the loss, silently took away Daniel’s water bottle as a warning.
Daniel realized he’d said something wrong. He knew about the baby that was lost. The household staff had kept it from him, but he was smart and had overheard their conversations. He’d even cried in secret several times.
He hugged Brittany instinctively, whispering, “Mommy, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said

that.”
When Brittany heard her son’s apology, her eyes glistened with tears. “You didn’t say anything wrong. Mommy knows you want a sibling, but I’m not ready yet. Can you wait a little longer?”
Daniel nodded confidently. “I can wait.”
With the incident weighing on her mind, Brittany appeared somewhat down throughout the meal.
Isaac gave Daniel disapproving looks throughout the meal, and Daniel accepted them in silence.
Upon returning home, Daniel went straight to his room without seeking any comfort.
Later, after showering and worrying about Daniel, Brittany checked on him, only to find that he was already asleep.
She breathed a sigh of relief and returned to the master bedroom, where Isaac wrapped her in his arms. “He didn’t mean to upset you.”
The child they’d lost was a wound they both dared not speak of. They hadn’t even had the chance to know that little life before it was gone.
Brittany’s eyes reddened, and she clung to Isaac, sobbing softly.
Isaac felt as if he’d been punched in the chest. He lifted her into bed and tried to soothe her with hushed words.
Brittany’s grief was intense, but she knew Isaac’s pain was just as deep. She grabbed his hand, her tears scalding. “I don’t blame you.”
Isaac was wracked with guilt, holding Brittany close, unable to speak for
time.
They spent a sleepless night in each other’s arms.
Meanwhile, the video of Ivy and Daniel’s interaction had gone viral in Crane
