The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac)

Chapter 977

For years, Yuri had been without a direct heir, and the vultures in the family had circled his wealth relentlessly. Even if they couldn't claim it all for themselves, they skulked around, hoping for a decent cut to secure their lives in comfort. Then, out of the blue, Brittany swept in, inheriting all of Yuri's assets, sending shockwaves through the family tree.

Now, they were using the pretext of Yuri's impending divorce to target Brittany, to bring her down a peg.

Brittany was no stranger to being the black sheep, but facing such blatant hostility in front of everyone still stung.

Dylan, keeping his distance, made it clear he wasn't going to speak up for Brittany.

When word got around that the Lynette family was stirring, Yuri didn't need more than a moment to figure out that Leila was behind it.

He pulled open his desk drawer, grabbed a manila envelope, and strode downstairs with purpose.

Entering the living room, he caught the family's bitter onslaught against Brittany, and his face turned thunderous.

A young voice whispered, "Uncle Yuri's here," and the room fell deathly silent.

Dylan, scowling, blurted out, "Yuri, why are you getting a divorce?"

A divorce could only spell trouble for the Lynette family.

Yuri moved to Brittany's side. "You alright, sweetheart?"

The younger relatives who had been targeting Brittany shrank back, dreading being on the wrong side of Yuri's wrath. If he cast them out of the Lynette family, how would they maintain their cushy lifestyles? The more timid ones even considered seeking Brittany's mercy. Brittany, unfazed by their pettiness, replied coolly, "I'm fine."

Yuri, understanding her pride, glanced around with icy disdain. "Brittany is my daughter, my only daughter at that. Anyone who dares cross her from now on can pack their bags and leave the Lynette family!" The younger Lynettes felt the ground shift beneath them.

"We're all family here, what's wrong with speaking our minds?" Dylan, resentful of Yuri's favoritism towards Brittany, grumbled, "Even if she's your only daughter, she's still just a daughter..."

"Uncle!" Yuri cut him off sharply. "Times have changed. Whether a son or a daughter, it makes no difference now. My daughter deserves the best the world has to offer, and I won't hear another word against that." Dylan, who had lived off the family's generosity for years, was irked by Yuri's sudden shift in loyalty over Brittany.

Leila, sensing the argument escalating, whispered a reminder, "Uncle, let's focus on what matters."

She wasn't here for a family feud. She wanted to press Yuri into changing his mind.

Dylan, pulling his thoughts together, said sternly, "Leila has devoted years to you, raising your children, ensuring you had no worries. And now you want a divorce. Has someone been filling your head with nonsense?" The insinuation was clear he suspected Brittany was the instigator.

"Uncle, this marriage was never something I wanted." Yuri struggled to keep his composure. "I was forced into this marriage. Over these thirty years, how many times have I asked for a divorce? You know better than I." He paused, "I could tolerate it when I was childless, but not anymore."

"So, you're suggesting Leila hasn't been kind to Brittany?"

Dylan's face hardened, sure now that Brittany was the wrench in the works.

Once again, Brittany was thrust into the eye of the storm.

Yuri's laugh was cold, his gaze dangerously settled on Leila. "You think my wish to divorce is because of Bri?"

Leila felt a chill down her spine. She instinctively hid behind Dylan, too scared to respond. Her action was a tacit admission of guilt.

The Lynette family simmered with dissatisfaction, the living room thick with resentment.

Brittany's lips pressed into a thin line, her anger barely concealed.

At that moment, Yuri dramatically threw down a envelope. "Here's the truth behind the divorce. Take a good look!"

Leila's eyes widened in fury, her gaze locked on Yuri.

He dared to expose those secrets?
