Chapter 751
Chapter 751
A buzzing sound reverberated in Brittany's ears. She barely remembered hanging up the phone, let alone how she left the hospital room. Kari was in another hospital.
Brittany rushed over in a daze, reaching the hospital to find her assistant waiting anxiously outside the room.
"Ms. Dustin, you're here."
The assistant, trembling, supported Brittany. "Kari Bennett is inside. We haven't informed Nathan yet. She wants to see you."
Brittany nodded. "I understand."
After pushing open the hospital room door, she found Kari curled up in bed. At the sound, Kari raised her head to look at her. "Brittany."
Brittany was startled by the marks on Kari's face and the blood on her hands.
"Kari, what happened?"
Kari slid down from the bed and embraced Brittany, shaking as she said, "Brittany."
Brittany instinctively held her, smelling the strong scent of blood in the air. She looked down to find Kari's clothes soaked in blood. It was a gruesome sight. "What happened?"
Brittany's hands trembled as Kari stuttered. "They sent someone to trash my place. I.. I stabbed one of them."
"The Palmer family?"
Kari nodded. "I think so."
Brittany clenched her teeth and tried comforting Kari. "Don't worry, I'll handle this."
Joseph was truly behaving like a lunatic, especially after Kari had crossed him. He wouldn't let Kari off easily.
Kari, evidently terrified, relayed the events before promptly fainting.
Kari's condition was dire.
Brittany contacted Nathan, urging him to protect Kari.
After leaving the hospital, Brittany drove to Joseph's mansion.
The mansion, situated halfway up a hill, exuded a chilling atmosphere.
Upon Brittany's arrival, Joseph's assistant was waiting outside. He was obviously prepared.
"Ms. Dustin."
"Where's Joseph?"
Brittany's face was stone-cold.
"Mr. Palmer has retired for the night." The assistant pulled out a check from his bag. "Mr. Palmer was not aware of tonight's events. This is compensation for Ms. Bennett. We hope she won't escalate the matter." "I don't want money." Brittany shook her head. "If it wasn't Joseph, was it his girlfriend?"
The assistant chuckled lightly. "Ms. Dustin, you and Mr. Palmer are business partners. There's no need to let this incident ruin your relationship, right?"
This seemingly gentle statement carried a grave warning.
Brittany clenched her fists as her eyes flashed with icy determination. "If Joseph can't control his people, what gives him the right to ask me for mercy?"
"Ms. Dustin." The assistant thought Brittany was being too petty. "Ms. Bennett is safe for now. It's best to let bygones be bygones; otherwise..."
"Then tell Joseph I won't let this slide, nor will I let my people be bullied!"
After Brittany left, the assistant sighed before relaying her response to Joseph.
"Mr. Palmer, Ms. Dustin won't cause any more trouble, right?" Natalie asked.
Joseph, who was supposedly resting, massaged his forehead and glanced at Natalie, who was sitting next to him. "I only asked you to win the competition. I didn't want you to resort to such despicable methods." Natalie grew a bit pale. "I just wanted to teach her a lesson. And I didn't ask for her to be harmed."
Kari had stolen her spotlight.
Joseph was infamous for his ruthless tactics, but he never played with people's innocence. The assassin was losing patience./
"Natalie, this is your first strike. If this happens again, don't blame me for being ruthless."
Natalie pursed her lips. During their time together, Joseph treated her very well.
She never expected that Joseph would threaten her over Kari.
She took a deep breath and conceded. "I understand."
Joseph then gestured for Natalie to leave.
When Brittany returned to the hospital, Nathan was still there.
"Ms. Dustin." Nathan rose when he saw her. "You've been to see Joseph?"
"Yes. His people are the culprits."
