SWNOVELS Chapter Story Time
I wasn't sure I had heard her correctly until Mik scoffed and said "Not you too!"
I slapped her on the shoulder with my hand that was behind Kam making her clear her throat and say "I-I mean, yay, I'm so happy for you!" Then she rolled her eyes and stuck her finger into her mouth, eliciting a fake gag.
Kam sat there with her eyes straight ahead not paying attention to either one of us when I asked "So? Are you going to tell us the story or should we guess what happened and who he is?"
She blushed and giggled like a lovesick puppy then sighed.
"I was running in the forest behind the house. I only wanted to go for a little stretch but Kennedy was sprinting. I thought it was because she hasn't really come out since we got here but then this overwhelming pull guided us to the most perfect waterfall. When we stopped there was a brown and tan wolf drinking at the far end of the pool where the water had collected. He looked up and something powerful came over me and I began jogging towards him. All of my senses were going wild the closer I got to him."
She looked at both of us and said "I don't have to tell you both how sensitive my smell is but when I was around him I swear I could almost smell his body responding to mine. He let me get close to him and without thinking my wolf rubbed herself along his side then nipped at his tail. She took off like a brat, making him chase after us. She bobbed and weaved through the trees, letting the branches she ducked hit him in the snot. Eventually we stopped in a clearing and had a stare off. It felt like we were the only two beings on the Earth, like nature paused this moment in time just for us."
She sat there with the most sincere smile on her face as Mik began to nod off against the side of the couch. Once again I smacked her hard, waking her from her slumber and causing her to jump up and yell "What the hell..." She looked around, realizing that she had fallen asleep during the story then smiled apologetically as she sat back down on the couch.
Kam was so consumed with thoughts of her mate that she never noticed, or at least she never said anything if she did. I shook my head as I watched the total opposite reactions of my best friends when they talked about their mates. One was hopelessly in love and the other would have been just fine if she never met hers.
It made me think about my own reaction when I found Bishop, not to mention when he said had already had a mate but rejected her. He had every right to do it, in fact I'm surprised he hadn't done it the moment he met her and found out she wasn't normal. A sudden pang of jealousy hit me as Kam kept talking about their meeting.
"He shifted into his gloriously handsome human and all my wolf could do was stare like an idiot as he walked towards us. He rubbed her snot making her purr in delight and looked into her eyes and said MATE! I almost melted right on the spot but instead I freaked out and ran off back here. I don't even know his name or where to find him."
She jumped of the couch and started pacing back and forth.
"Relax Kam. You're a tracker, remember. Plus you will most definitely know where to find him when your heat comes and you can't keep yourself from him." I chuckled as I thought about the insane way my body fought to find Bishop.
Mik looked at us and said "Just because you found your mate, it doesn't mean you have to lay down and let him mount you in some outdated ritual to consummate the Moon Goddess's plan. I managed to keep my wits about me since I met my mate." She said sarcastically.
"Mik, I get that you aren't exactly happy that you found him but I don't see how you can fight the bond, that sudden urge to be with them all the time, the feeling that you will explode if you don't touch each other. I mean there has to be some good that comes from it? Right, Em?"
"Right! Someone who is sworn to love you and protect you no matter what."
"Well I don't need protection and I don't need some pathetic excuse for someone to love me. Why aren't we allowed to make that choice?"
Kam and I both knew that no matter how good we made mates sound, Mik had a completely different perspective about it and she would argue with us until she was blue in the face about how she felt. I can understand her reservations but I didn't know how long she could last fighting the bond without rejecting it, and if there was one thing she wouldn't do it would be reject him.
For the rest of the day, the three of us we hung out like old times. We watched a movie and binged on loads of junk food while talking about the stupid things we had done when we were younger. The more I thought about home the worst I felt for leaving and I decided to call my father.
"I'll be back, I need to make a phone call."
They both nodded and kept talking while I walked down the hall towards Chase's office. He wasn't home so I opened the door and sat as his desk taking a few deep breathes before I picked up the phone and dialed his number.
"Alpha Watson."
"Hi dad."
I heard him pause before he said "Ember! How are you? Is everything ok? When are you coming home?"
"Everything is fine father. I just wanted to call and check on things back at the pack. I was hoping I could come back and talk about things."
"Of course we can talk, Ember. When will you be coming, I can arrange for a car to go to Chase's pack and get you."
"No father, I can run. I just wanted to make sure that Alpha Anderson wouldn't be there when I came."
"Ember, I really wish you would give him a chance. He has been helping us a lot lately with several troubling situations and he has increased our border patrol efforts with the help of a training ground he helped us build."
I didn't know what to say, maybe he was a good guy but he had no right to come to my territory and proposition me like he did and now he's giving my father advise? I really didn't like the sound of it and I knew I needed to go home sooner than expected to try and convince my father to let me take things over like I was destined to.
"I will see you in two days."
"Ok Ember, be safe."
I hung up the phone and walked back to the living room to enjoy the rest of the night with my girls. I needed to tell them that I was going home and that this was something that I had to do alone but for now it could wait.
I am so beyond excited that Kam found her mate!!!! And then went and ran away from him LOL
Will Mik ever give into her feelings or will she just choose to ignore them and slowly drive Cole insane from the lack of connection?
Em is going home! I wonder what will happen when she sees her father and I sure hope Anderson doesn't show up!
