The Barrister's Love in Town

Chapter 564

Chapter 564 Don’t Play Innocent With Me
“You were there too?” Symeon couldn’t remember. He only remembered Amanda trying to steal the bidding documents that day,
but he caught her red-handed.
Casey sneered. “Yes, I was there too. Surprised? Do you want to kill me so I won’t tell your secret? Unfortunately, I saw
everything.”
To her surprise, he chuckled. “Then, I would like to ask, what exactly did you see that made you so angry?”
She frowned. He’s shameless. Even at this point, he’s still so self-righteous.
“Well, I saw everything. However, the door was closed, so I couldn’t see it live. Therefore, I missed the details.”
Her words angered Symeon. “Watch your mouth, Casey. Amanda is, after all, a married woman. It’s unfair. to make such a
groundless accusation against her.”
“Unfair? But was I wrong? The two of you had an affair, and now you think I’m making it up? Stop denying. I saw with my own
eyes!”
“You’re unbelievable. What exactly did. you see?”
There’s nothing between Amanda and me. What could Casey possibly see?
At that moment, Dulcie rushed out of the room. Finding the adults fighting, she immediately burst into
tears.
Symeon’s heart softened instantly at the girl’s crying. It also managed to calm Casey down. How could I forget that Dulcie is still
here?
“Dulcie...” She wanted to go over and comfort the child, but Symeon was faster. He scurried over to Dulcie’s side and scooped
the girl in his arms. His voice was soothing. There, there. Don’t cry. I’m here for you. Let’s go home, shall we?”
“Don’t be mean to Miss Casey, Daddy.”
“I didn’t.” Symeon would only show the softer side of him to Dulcie.

Then, he turned around and left with Dulcie in his arms, leaving Casey alone in the room. A void grew within the woman. Every
time Symeon took Dulcie from her, Casey felt extremely sad.
She wished nothing more than to take Dulcie back to her side. But now, Elias was about to fire her. Worse, Symeon refused to
admit that he had an affair with Amanda. Therefore, Casey was still far from achieving. her goal. Besides, she had to face her
father, Philip, in court.
Suddenly, she felt very tired. My life is exhausting.
Meanwhile, in the Winters Estate. Elias’ birthday was tomorrow. Amanda planned to celebrate his birthday with their family of
three.
She brought a cup of coffee to the study room, where Elias was still busy with work. Lately, Elias had been very busy. Even when
he was at home, he stayed in his study.

He looked up at her and smiled. “Why are you here? If you’re tired, you should sleep first. You don’t have to wait for me.”
“I can’t sleep. Besides, I want to talk to you about your birthday tomorrow. How do you plan to celebrate? 1 think-”
Before Amanda could finish her sentence, he interrupted, “Someone helped to plan my birthday this time. The company wants to
take advantage of my birthday banquet to invite the big shots in the industry to establish connections.”
“Oh... I see. If so, I don’t need to attend, right?” She actually didn’t like attending such events. All she wanted was to celebrate
his birthday with their family of three.
He took the cup of coffee from her and set it on the table before pulling her into his arms. Wrapping his arms around her slender
waist, he said, “I know you may not like these occasions, but I hope you can attend it. Just make an appearance, and you can go
home to rest. Is that okay with you?”
“Okay, sure.”
“Honey, you’re so considerate. What more can I ask for?” Elias smiled affectionately. All he could see at that moment was
Amanda.

Amanda giggled. “Don’t give me that. I don’t like men who use sweet words.”
He arched his brow. “Then, what kind of man do you like? I can practice.”
“No need. Just be yourself. It would be too fake if you pretend.”
“I swear I’ll teach you to behave, Amanda.” As Elias spoke, he aimed for a kiss on her lips. However, she quickly escaped from
his embrace and ran out of the study.
He could only smile at her antics before deciding to finish his work as soon as possible so that he could join her in their bedroom
later.
The next evening, the big shots from all walks of life arrived at Elias’ birthday banquet. Amanda also attended in her finest attire.
She scanned her surroundings and could tell that Winters Enterprise had put in much effort tonight. Due to the recent challenges
from Symeon’s side, Elias had to build his connections. In the past, he would never bother with such things.
Amanda held Elias’ arm as they greeted the guests. She was getting sore feet from walking in high heels.
Elias noticed her discomfort, so he whispered in her ear. “Go take a break and have a drink.”
“Can you handle it alone?”
“Of course. He smirked and caressed her cheek. He wasn’t afraid to show affection in public, and the scene didn’t go unnoticed
by the guests.
Since it was the boss’ birthday banquet tonight, the employees of Winters Enterprise were presented as
well.
Amanda spotted Casey among the crowd at first glance. Casey’s presence filled her mind with questions.

since Casey’s family wasn’t invited tonight.

She couldn’t help but walk over. At the same time, Casey happened to turn around and see her approaching. Instead of avoiding
her, Casey greeted her. “Mrs. Winters.”
“What a surprise to see you here, Miss Carter. Did Elias invite you?”
Casey smiled and shook her head. “He didn’t. Since I’m now an employee of Winters Enterprise, I’m eligible to attend his
birthday banquet.”
“You now work for the company? Since when? Why wasn’t I told?” Amanda had no idea about this. Moreover, Elias never
mentioned it to her.
Casey explained, “I just started working here a week ago. I guess he forgot to tell you. After all, he’s a busy
man.”
A week, huh? But Elias has never mentioned it. A shadow darkened Amanda’s expression at the thought.
She always felt that Casey was up to nothing good. Although Casey seemed like a kind woman and always spoke gently,
something was off about her.
“I see. I wish you a good time working in the company After that, Amanda intended to leave.
However, Casey called out behind her. “Mrs. Winters, I wonder when you plan to tell Mr. Winters the truth.”
“The truth? What do you mean?” Amanda turned back to look at the other woman.
“We both know the truth, so you don’t have to play innocent with me.”
Play innocent? Me? She hates my guts, doesn’t she?
Amanda smiled and asked Casey, “Will you please elaborate, Miss Carter? You’re confusing me with your
claim.”
