The Axelridge Series Book 4 Griff's Red Card

Chapter 43 The End

(Chapter song ‘Tik Tok' by Kesha)

COLORADO SPRINGS

Ugh…kill me now.

The light from my window makes my eyes burn like they’re on fire. I throw my blankets and pillows over my throbbing head. No one should have to be up at this hour.

In the dark of my plush fort, I hear my notifications blowing up and I reach out, grab my phone and throw it across my room.

Not now.

The incessant banging on my door is not letting up and I’m about to crack.

I’ve got a massive hangover on top of three more hangovers and I’m going to fucking lose it if he doesn’t go away.

“BROOKLYN!!”

His voice is like an ice pick on my brain. That’s not the hangover talking, I hate his guts.

“BROOKLYN, GET YOUR ASS OUT OF BED!!”

I roll over with a groan. As I sit up, the hangover rolls in my brain like it’s filled with the 10 bottles I drank last night.

At least, I think it's 10…I lost count.

My blonde hair is trashed, I need a shower and I’m sure I look like death warmed over.

‘What the fuck could Harrison Charles Carrington the 3rd, esquire possibly want this early?’ I think with complete snark.

I throw the covers off then slam a hand to my forehead. “Ow.” I grit as I turn my legs and plant my feet on the floor. My toes sink into my plush pink carpet and I try to focus my eyes on the molded, white door to my bedroom.

“BROOKLYN!”

“I'M COMING!” I hunch over. “Son of a bitch!” My head screams as I rise to my feet.

I pad over to the door, not even bothering to straighten my tank or shorts. My hair hangs in my face and I can’t remember if I removed my makeup before passing out.

I hit the door, try to push past the ache in my head and unlock the door.

I open it, lean on it and poke my head out.

As usual, he’s dressed in tight pants, a tight shirt and his blonde hair is swept to the side like he’s off to the country club. His round, blue eyes look like mine, but angrier. His cut jaw ticks as he crosses his thick arms and looks me over.

I wipe my face as I try to focus on him. “What do you want, Harry?”

He chews his cheek. “Harrison.”

‘Harrison.’ I mouth with attitude as I turn and walk back to my bed.

He walks in behind me. “This is the last time, Brooklyn.”

I half close my eyes, lick my lips and crawl onto my bed. “Last time for what, Harry?” I flop down and ball up my blanket to hug it.

“THIS BULLSHIT, BROOKLYN!” He leans to me and yells.

“DON’T YELL AT ME!” I slam my head and roll to my back. “Ow!”

“Look at yourself. You’re pathetic, Brooke. I don’t know why you keep doing this, but it has to stop. You’re becoming an embarrassment.” He stands at the side of my bed with his arms crossed and dripping with superiority.

I flop my arm down and turn my tired eyes to him. “Don’t be so dramatic. I’m not hurting anyone.” I snarl.

“No?” He grits. He throws his phone at me and I pick it up.

A video from last night is posted on his social media account with caption ‘Harry's sis is cooler than you.’

I watch myself dancing on tables surrounded by men. I pull it closer to my eyes to see what’s going on. “That’s where my shirt went.” I mumble, throw back at him and roll my back to him.

“You are an Olympic skier. Do you even care what this is doing to the teams reputation?”

“It's too early, Harry. Lecture me during business hours.” I grumble into the blanket.

“IT'S 1 IN THE AFTERNOON!” He yells.

“Call me at 9.” I say sleepily.

“You’re fucking hopeless."

“Luv ya, too. Close the door on the way out.” I raise my hand to him and wave him to go away then flop it back down.

I hear the door close and I settle in to get more sleep.

He may hate what I do for his image, but what he still doesn’t get is that the reason I do these things is because I hate him more.

What he also doesn’t know, nor anyone else, is…

How much I hate myself.
