The Assassin’s Mate

Chapter Prologue

I never really thought much about my life before now. Being this, monster just came so naturally to me that it was almost normal. Killer instincts were part of my DNA so the primal urge to stalk and maul my prey to death, was as common as breathing and my desire for blood had become so addicting that no matter where I was I always thinking about my next kill.

I stared out into the night, watching my victim like a hawk, memorizing every move he made as he crept through the woods. I waited for my chance, stealthily moving in step with him careful to keep a safe distance from his line of sight and smell. He never saw me coming and when I jumped out at him the fear in his eyes was evident. He was going to die, and he knew it.

"W-who arrrre yyyouu?" He said while he trembled in terror.

I tilted my head to the side and walked around him in a circle, playing with him like a cat plays with a mouse just before it attacks.

He was so nervous that I knew even before he did that he was about to make a run for it and like the evil predictor I am, I let him bolt. This should be fun!

I ran after him, dodging trees and hanging limbs while he stammered ahead of me tripping a couple times before he finally fell and landed on his face. He tried to get up but I stopped him placing my boot in between his shoulder blades and pushing down hard enough to knock his wind out. Then I reached down grabbing him by the arm and flipped him over into his back.

"Please, I'm begging you, don't kill me! Please." He said while he cried his eyes out like the little sissy that he was.

I smiled so devilishly that if he could actually see my face he would have thought I was insane. In one swift swing of my claws, I ripped through his throat like a plastic bag causing blood to spray across the grass and onto my pants. I listened as he gurgled on his own blood sending chills down my back and causing the hairs along my neck stand up.

It was almost orgasmic listening to him take his last breath and when he did I picked up my phone and dialed the messenger. "Tell him he's dead."

The Moon Goddess sure fucked up when she created me, not only because of what I was but because of what I craved to be.

Was I really meant to be this way?
