The Assassin Queen

Chapter Chapter Five

The next morning when Charlotte awoke, she felt the emptiness of the bed next to her. She sighed and assumed he was in his office. Getting up she pulled on some jeans and comfortable shirt. She put some light make-up on and pulled her hair up in a ponytail. She walked out of the apartment and into the palace, wondering about. She stopped in the kitchen, where the staff immediately bowed and asked if they could do anything for her. After being handed two cups of coffee she headed off to Trevor’s office.

“What are you doing here?” Ryan asked with a smile on his face.

“I need to talk to Trevor, is he busy?” She asked setting the two cups of coffee down.

“Give me a moment,” Ryan rose and gave the Queen a simple kiss on her cheek and knocked on the door. After a few moments, Ryan opened the door for the Queen. She walked into the office. Trevor sat back in his chair and watched his beautiful soul mate walk in.

She bowed her head in submission to her king before walking over to him. She handed him the cup of coffee and sat on his desk.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to leave this morning, but there was a little problem in one of the city states that needed my attention.” He told her.

“No worries, I figured you had work. Anyways I uhm need to talk to you.” She had thought about what she needed to talk to him about. She couldn’t just be a mother figure; she couldn’t be a normal queen.

“Okay, you may always speak freely with me.”

“I will not be a normal queen; I don’t think I can. I grew up around men, very few women in my life. I don’t think I can be a mother figure for these women to look up to.”

“Then what kind of queen will you be?” He was truly intrigued by this woman. She was strong and courageous; something he longed for in a woman.

“I can be of great use to you, I know people and people trust me. I can make your kingdom stronger than it already is.”

“What about your enemies?” He asked knowing her skills and part of what King Nicholas made her do.

“I have them, but I would hope that some would understand where I am coming from. Seeing that most of them have Lefts, they should understand.”

“How do you mean?”

“All Left’s are trained the same, the LSA might have trained me a little harder though and most don’t start as young as I did. Most start the school training when they are ten and then go to the LSA at fourteen or fifteen.”

“You were five right and then ten when you entered the LSA?” She nodded her head.

“The Queen was always nice to me but she didn’t care for me that much. Anyways, like I said, most of the people I were around, were men."

“I want you to be the Queen you see fit, I’m willing to negotiate some jobs and things you can do.”

“That would be great, but I need you to do something for me first.”

“Anything,” he returned a loving smile.

“I have a team; they are in a safe house that I had told them to go to. I need them with me, they are my family and I promised after everything was settled and I was away from the Black Light Kingdom that I would come and get them.” He pursed his lips. “I can go and get them I know where they are; it’s actually not too far from here.”

“I don’t want you getting hurt, so I’ll send Johnathan, Ryan, and Aaron to do the job.” He said getting up out of the chair.

“No,” she demanded. Trevor was not used to others being so forward with him. He looked at her and raised an eyebrow.

“No?” He challenged her. Her eye gaze did not falter from his own.

“No, I have to go. They will see the three of them as a threat and nothing else. If they see me, then they will know they are safe.”

“I won’t allow that; you are the queen of this kingdom. I will not put you in harm’s way.”

“You are forgetting who I am. I need you to trust me, please.” She placed one of her hands on his cheek.

“Fine, but I am coming with you.” He stated. She nodded her head despite the fact that the last time she had brought a King with her, things didn’t turn out the way she wanted them.

An hour later, Charlotte, Trevor, the three boys, and a few other men were ready to go. Ryan sat in the passenger seat while Johnathan drove. She had encouraged them to bring weapons in case something might happen. Trevor and Charlotte sat in the middle of the Escalade and Aaron in the back. Charlotte explained to Johnathan where the house was and assumed it would be a two-hour drive despite the closeness to the Knight Light Kingdom.

“Okay, I would park the car over here,” Charlotte said. The two cars pulled over on the side of the road. They were in the middle of nowhere, well that’s what all of the men thought.

“Is this my land,” Trevor asked quietly to Charlotte.

“Yes, but you never use it. I did my research very well. Anyways, you men must follow me or you may get hurt…” they all nodded their heads and followed her. She was in her element and was enjoying being herself again. They walked for ten minutes before Charlotte got an uneasy feeling. Signaling them to stop, she looked back at Trevor.

“You need to trust me. I know what I am doing and you need to remember that I was and always will be a Left before anything else.” Trevor did not like this one bit, but he did as she said. She told the men to stay out sight and of course to trust her. She glanced over towards Ryan nodded her head toward him. He knew what she wanted from him.

She scanned the forest and saw the two men she had hoped she would never see again. She took a deep breath in and stepped out.

“King Nicholas,” she said. He turned and looked at the woman who had taken his son from him. He hadn’t shaved in what looked like weeks, bags around his eyes, and his skin was paler than what it had once been.

Her mouth dropped for a split second seeing the scene in front of her. The house had been ransacked, no doubt by his men. Guards that she had trained were in the house turning things over and wrecking all of her teams work no doubt. She looked down to see her teammates all on their knees, he was going to execute them.

“Well, look who it is.” Brent started to saunter towards her. She took her two-sided sword out and put out in front of her. She grabbed her bouton, on the other hand, ready to use it.

“You escaped, how sad. I was really looking forward to killing you.” King Nicholas said. “Now I can just kill your precious little team.” He stood behind the first lieutenant.

“No, take me instead.” She informed them.

Trevor did everything he could to trust her, he wanted to. But this was his soulmate and he had just found. He was not going to let that happen. As he tried to step away from the group of his men to save his queen, he was stopped. He looked up to the owner’s arm to Johnathan holding him back.

“Trust her,” he told his King. Trevor’s jaw tightened at the scene unfolding before him.

“You are gonna give yourself up, just like that? No fight?” King Nicholas stated, curious at what his ex-left was going at.

“Yes, as your loyal servant.” She dropped to her knees and laid her weapons down. Brent came up behind her and pulled her to her feet. He forced her to walk towards the King. All five of her friends looked at her in awe. Each of them was questioning, why she would give her up so easily. Charlotte made eye contact with her first lieutenant, Jeremy. They share a knowing look, and he knew what she was doing. He looked up into the trees and found the man waiting for her signal.

“King Trevor must be so stupid to just let you leave. I never liked that man. I even saw him looking at you the day of coronation. I should’ve brought him down earlier.”

“You mean you should have told me to do it earlier?” She egged him on. A swift slap was administered to her face by the King.

“How dare you speak to me like that?” He grabbed the sword from his holster and brought it to her neck. “For that, I will finally get what I have always wanted; to kill you.” She rolled her eyes, without her, he would be nothing.

King Nicholas brought his sword back, ready to kill the woman. As he began to swing it toward her, Ryan shot two arrows towards the King: one to his sword, the other towards his chest. The arrow meant for his chest missed just right and pierced his shoulder, causing the King to cry out in pain. The arrow hit at the same time as the sword knocking it out of his hand. Just like that, Charlotte brought knives she had placed under her long sleeves out and cut Brent’s arm. She tossed one to Jeremy, allowing him to get out the bins around his wrist. She got up from her position and kicked Brent in the balls, causing him to crumple to the ground. Charlotte ran to her friends and teammates and cut them free of their binds. Three women of them ran to the house to get their weapons while the two men helped Charlotte fend off the guards coming towards them.

Trevor knew it was okay for him and his men to help. Ryan came down from the tree and the small group of Knight Light men ran out to the small battle happening out in front of them. Trevor picked up his soulmates weapons and ran towards her. However, it was hard to do with his member growing hard at the sight of his soulmate defending herself. He pushed the thought out of his head and went to her.

“Thank you for trusting me,” she said while everything going on around them. She kissed his cheek and turned around to continue fighting.

“Captain!” A fit blonde woman yelled out. Charlotte looked towards Sarah and smiled. Sarah ran over to her captain and handed her something black and long.

“Thank you, ma’am.” Sarah smiled, she finally had her best friend back. Charlotte slipped on her sleeves and pressed the button that brought them out. Two long blades came out of the fabric, all of the Knight Light men jaws dropped. Her signature weapon was real. She looked like an angel, but one that was fierce and strong. All of the Black Light’s guards stopped. A few grew scared and ran away from their ex-commander. The rest that stayed, kneeled in front of her. She scanned the area and realized that King Nicholas and Brent had gotten away. She didn’t want them to die, not yet.

“If you are kneeling in front of me, you are now surrendering yourself to me.” She said. Trevor counted at least twenty men that had kneeled down. He then noticed four other people, who were about to lose their life by King Nicholas’s hand, kneeled too.

“Colton,” Charlotte said looking at one of the guards. His strawberry blonde hair was disheveled. “Stand.” He followed her orders. “I wanted to thank you for giving me the information… it was very useful.” He laughed and enveloped her in a quick hug.

“I must warn you of other threats that King Nicholas has told me, but I shall do that at a later time. Shall I take my men to the city?” He asked her.

“Yes, she will be waiting for you and your men. I will want to talk with you tomorrow.” He bowed again and instructed his men to rise. The twenty men, who had been under Charlotte’s directions and influence left. Charlotte turned towards Sarah and gave her a well-deserved hug.

“I missed you so much,” Charlotte told her best friend. Charlotte and Sarah had been through a lot together; they were basically sisters. Charlotte felt the heat from Sarah’s soulmate mark.

“He’s here, oh my god. I have waited so long.” Sarah told Charlotte. Charlotte looked at Sarah’s mark and smiled to herself.

“Johnathan, come here!” The man sauntered over towards his queen. He stopped behind his queen and acknowledge the pain on his left arm. “Sarah this is Johnathan, your soul mate.” Charlotte stepped aside. Johnathan’s whole world had stopped; she was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. Sarah smaller than him, but looked just as strong. Her blonde hair was messy but up and out of her face showing off her big blue eye.

“Hi,” she said sheepishly; something that she was not. Johnathan stepped towards his soulmate and wrapped his arms around her.

“You are mine,” he whispered in her ears. This caused a shiver to run down Sarah’s spine.

Charlotte was happy for her best friend. She watched their interaction with a small pang of jealousy. Trevor walked over to his queen and wrapped his arm around her waist. He kissed the top of her head and pulled her into him as close as he could.

“So what do we do know?” Trevor asked his queen.

“We go back to the palace and eat.” She said aloud.

“Will you cook for us, Charlotte?” Jeremy asked.

“No, but assure you it will be good food.” She told him. Jeremy walked over to his captain and bowed his head down. “Jeremy this is King Trevor. My king, this is my first lieutenant.” Jeremy bowed his head again and shook the king's hand. Three others walked over to the King and future Queen.

“Katie, Roxy, and Ethan, this King Trevor, my soul mate.” They followed Jeremy’s actions and bowed their heads.

“It is nice to meet you guys. Please come and join me at my palace, there will be places for you to stay.” They all mumbled a quick ‘thank you’ and walked back into the house. Jeremy came back holding a box.

“How the fuck did you get that?” Charlotte asked. Jeremy’s face lit up.

“You know I am the best at sneaking around.” She raised her eyebrow. “I got it when you were placed into the dungeon. We were planning on coming to get you, but you were… being tortured.” He winced at his words.

“Don’t worry Jeremy, everything is okay now. Thank you for getting that box.” She took the box from him and placed her hand on the top. It lit up and opened.

“Those are the plans?” Trevor asked his queen.

“Yes, we will destroy them if that is what you wish to do.”

“We can discuss that later.” Trevor’s whispered in her ear. She closed the box and signaled for her team to follow them.

She looked back to see that Johnathan had his arm wrapped around Katie. Johnathan beamed at the future queen. He had found his soulmate too. They piled into the two cars that they brought. Trevor wrapped his arm around Charlotte. Johnathan revved up the car and sped away. During the two-hour ride home, Charlotte fell asleep on Trevor’s shoulder. Conversations took place between Trevor and Johnathan, mostly about problems the kingdom has been facing, small problems that is. When they arrived back, Charlotte woke up but was still tired. She got out of the car and walked towards the apartment.
