Chapter 80 – The Alphas’ Porn Star Mate
"IT... IT WAS HIM!" James said. "THE-THE OTHER GUY! THE..... THE PORN KING."
Dez and I exchanged a look. "Mick?" I asked. "Mick would never give his woman's information out."
"No," James shook his head fervently. "Not....not him himself. The....the agency...he," James choked, then started coughing up blood. One of his lungs might be ruptured. We may not have long to get this information. "He.... he worked for-for an agency. They..... They had his previous address. Mister," he coughed again, more bubbling red spilling from his lips. "Mister.... Mister Smith. He had a.... a hunch she was with him. We took a shot in the dark."
"Did Billy find a listing of this address for Mick's documentation at his filming agencies?" I asked Dez.
"No," Dez crossed his arms, staring daggers at James. The pliers were still clenched in his fist. "I don't believe you. We checked their servers."
"IT WASN'T ON THE SERVERS!" James yelled, spewing blood everywhere. "It was his....his first gig. The forms were just paper forms."
"You came all the way here on a hunch and because of a piece of paper?" I asked.
The man grimaced. "We....we came for the money. A thirty million dollar hunch was all we had." He sputtered in more blood. "We.....we won't be the only ones."
"Thirty million dollars?!" I gasped. "You didn't tell me it was that much."
Dez gave me one of his looks. "You tempted?"
"Of course not! I'm just.... Surprised. That's a lot of freaking money, babe. No wonder they tried facing off with a pack of giant wolves."
"I'll.... I'll split it with you," James said with a greedy glint in his swelling eye. "Fifty, fifty."
I scoffed, looking on with disgust while Dez snarled and punched James right in the mouth, knocking out another one of his teeth. James groaned a guttural cry, choking on his blood and spit. Betraying our Luna is something we would never consider doing. Ever. We would sooner die than risk her life.
There was a knock at the door, and then Lenny came in with two of the other stripper rogues. Boyd and Alexi, I think, were their names. "Rodger gave me a serum to get him speaking if he hasn't yet," Lenny said. "It will also keep him whole until you're done with him." "Thanks," Dez took the small jar with a glowing yellow substance in it. He eyed it peculiarly. It smelled like sulfur and rotten eggs. "Did he say much more?" Alexi asked.
"Not a whole bunch," I replied, cringing as Dez force-fed the screaming human the nasty potion. "He did say how he found this place. I guess Mick wrote it down as a previous address on a job document before. The infamous Mister Smith had a hunch Chloe would be with Mick, so they came here."
"That's a long drive for a hunch," Alexi scoffed.
"I guess thirty million dollars was worth taking the risk," Dez scoffed.
"Thirty million?" Billy's eyes went wide. "Holy shit."
"What does Mr. Smith want with Chloe to pay thirty million for her?" Alexi asked.
"Personal sex slave?" I growled. "The man sounds crazy."
"He's crazy rich," Alexi muttered. "He paid outlandish amounts for the live shows with Chloe and Darren. I think he's some prince or oil tycoon in the Middle East, but there was no telling for sure."
"Thirty million is nothing for the uber rich. Nothing more than trunk change," Lenny said.
Billy was deep in thought, then whistled under his breath. "Damn, that's an insane amount to us normal folk though."
"That's why we're going to have to tighten security even more. I don't think this will be a lone incident," Dez said, throwing the pliers back on the table. He started to examine the knives, but then Lenny looked over his shoulder and picked up a single toothpick. It wasn't a tool for torture, but a discarded one from the lunch the omegas brought up earlier in the day.
"I'll get him to speak," Lenny said in a cold voice. "Everything will be spilling from his bloody lips before I'm done."
Dez stepped back, more than willing to pass the controls over. Alexi looked eager for the torture to start, a sinister grin on his face, but Boyd was still lost in thought, staring at the ground. For some reason, the look on his face made me feel unsettled.
Chloe POV
I love this movie. Pretty Woman is so iconic, and I always cry at the end when Richard Geer comes back for Julia Roberts in the limo, climbing her fire escape to get her.
Winnie was lying between Jamie and Beau on the couch, forcing them to rub his feet. Cindy was whispering and snickering with Riley, probably about how spoiled Winnie was. Taylor was sitting beside me on the floor, both of us giggling at the cheesy lines at the end of the movie. Mick and Miles were on a pair of recliners, and I know they were watching me more than the movie the entire time. Every time I giggled or moved I felt their eyes boring into me.
"What movie do we want next?" Winnie asked, popping up from his spot. "Dear John? The Notebook?"
"What if we stick with Julia and Richard, and watch Runaway Bride next?" Cindy offered.
"We're out," Jamie pushed his big body up off the ground. "I can't suffer through any more."
"Ah," Winnie pouted, tugging on the hem of Jamie's shirt. "Just one more."
"You just want your feet rubbed," Beau laughed.
Winnie didn't answer. He just jutted out his bottom lip. Jamie sighed and sat back down, giving in to Winnie's whining as usual. Winnie then snapped his fingers and made Beau change the movie, acting like the diva he was.
"I heard you got shot today?" Taylor asked as we waited for the movie to turn on.
I shrugged. "It was just a scratch. Nothing major."
"I'm glad you're alright," she smiled.
"Thanks. Hurt like a bitch for a while, but it healed right up," I lifted my sleeve and showed her my non-existent bruise.
"Oh, yeah," she laughed nervously. "I heard you guys can heal really fast."
"Yeah," I smiled gently. "It comes in handy sometimes."
"I bet," she gave me an awkward half-smile. She has been a bit awkward all night. I wondered if she was just tired, or if she was weirded out because she was in a room full of shifters. I think the awkwardness is aimed at me though. Maybe it's because Darren and Billy went off in the woods for their beasts to meet each other and Taylor was left behind. I might be reading into this too much. It might have nothing to do with me at all.
"Um, can I ask you something?" Taylor leaned over and whispered in my ear.
"Sure," I gave her a reassuring smile. "Anything."
"Um, it may be kind of awkward."
I chuckled at that word choice. "Shoot. I'm good with awkward."
"Well," she looked around to make sure no one else was looking and then cleared her throat. "I was, uh, hoping you could help me with something."
"With what?" I lifted my head curiously.
She nervously bit her lip. "It's.....about having two mates."
I grimaced, not sure where this was heading. I didn't accept Miles as my mate and still was on the fence if I was going to. Mick seemed to be more open with his brother now, and I don't want to ruin that. I also don't like the idea of being Luna again, even though I love this pack and the way it is run. "How do you, uh...." She looked around nervously again, and then leaned in closer when she saw no one was paying attention to us. "How do you take two men at the same time?"
