The Alpha’s Little Rogue (Alessia)

Chapter 149

Chapter 149

Daphne's POV My hands are filled with the baskets of cupcakes that I baked throughout the night. Sadly, baking up a storm did nothing for my sullen mood. For the first time, baking didn't provide an outlet like it has always had.

At least, I now have enough cupcakes to share at the pack house without them tripping over the other to get their hand on it.

Hustling with all these loads, I managed to get to the pack house without falling for the cupcakes. I drop the baskets down beside the door and turn the knob, pushing the door open. I reach for the baskets that I placed on the floor and take them inside.

I shut the door behind me with my feet but stop short when my eyes land on the face of the person who has been radio silent for a week.

Raphael is sprawling on the couch and his eyes clash with mine as soon as I walk into the pack house.

Dropping the baskets back on the floor, I start inching closer to him.

He flees.

Raphael abruptly stands up from his seat and quickly heads to the door. Pushing the door open, he leaves me standing there like an idiot.

That's it. This ends today.

Rushing over to the door, I follow him out and run after him. A feat that isn't exactly child's play when he's covering up a lot of distances with his long strides.

But I manage to catch up with him and I grip his arm. He flinches and pulls his arm out of my touch. The gesture has me feeling so much emotion that I can't decipher.

"What do you want, Daphne?" He asks dryly, looking down at me with a disinterested expression on his face. But the set of his jaw and his clenched fists gives him away.

"I'm sorry if I made you believe something was going on between us. I should have been specific and I accept that I'm the one at fault here," I say all in one breath and let out a hump of breath once I'm done. Then I look up at him expectantly, waiting for his response. The look on his face still hasn't changed. "Ok." Then he turns around and starts walking.

For a moment, I'm baffled and I just stand there with my mouth agape in shock. I said that monologue and all he had to say was 'ok.' My feet start moving before I even realize what I'm doing and then I'm gripping Raphael's arm again to stop him. "Is that all you're going to say?"

Inwardly, I'm screaming at myself to let him go. I've apologized and said my part, it's his choice if he chooses to accept my apology. Besides, if we should really look at it, it isn't exactly my fault -I never told him that what happened yesterday was anything more than it actually was. He just assumed it all on his own. But putting that aside, I decided to be the bigger person and apologize and all he has to say to that is 'ok'?

"What more do you want me to say?" He asks evenly, still wearing that inscrutable facade. "I asked you if you were sure. I asked you if you were going to regret it and-" A crack appears in his facade before it's sealed up again. He shakes his head and lets out a humorless laugh. "It doesn't even matter."

"Raphael..." I trail off as his hard eyes lock on mine. "I didn't regret what we did. It was.." My blasted cheeks heat up and my gaze falls to the ground, unable to keep holding his. "It was wonderful and I wouldn't mind if it happened again." "Are you propositioning me?" He asks, his amusement clear as day.

My face grows hotter. "No!" I rush out. "I was just stating that it wasn't bad," I stutter, wondering if it will be possible for the ground to open up and plunge me into an abyss. Raphael chuckles, his eyes twinkling as he watches me make a fool out of myself. It's reassuring to know that my state of humiliation is what got him to show some emotions.

"Fuck you," I murmur without heat while also cracking a smile of my own. This is so stupid.

Raphael lets out another laugh before turning serious. "I admit that I shouldn't have assumed without clarifying it with you." A sigh. "It was foolish of me. I mistook your willingness as a yes to my pursuit of you." I give him a tiny smile. "It's ok."

"I had a taste of you and it rendered me stupid." Raphael's gaze falls to my lips.

I blush and unconsciously start worrying my bottom lip between my teeth. Raphael's gaze zeros in on that movement and he lets out a pained groan. "Daphne," he growls and his eyes turn a darker shade of brown.

In the next second, his lips are over

mine and we're having a full-blown make-out session in front of the

pack house. Somehow, even with

knowing the high risks of someone discovering us, I still find myself glued to Raphael, unable to move away from the comfort of being held in his arms.

Apparently, between the two of us, Raphael has more willpower because he's the one who puts an end to the kiss. "Fuck. I'm sorry but I just had to do that, he says with his forehead still pressed to mine with our lips mere inches away

"It's ok," I breathe out. My hands are still curled around his neck and I use that as leverage to pull his head down to mine.

Raphael pulls away from the kiss again and I let us a tiny whine.

"No, it isn't ok, he whispers against

my lips. He gives me what feels like a final kiss before pulling away. "I

don't want to have a few stolen

kisses and touches. I want the whole

package and I don't want to settle

for less."

I stare at him, speechless and unable to utter a word. My inside is a turmoil of emotion that I can't decipher but there's one that I understand. Disappointment.

"Oh," I say dumbly, going back to worrying my lips between my teeth.

"Please, don't do that," Raphael begs with a pained moan.

I quickly pull my lip out from between my teeth.

"It was nice talking to you, but I really need to head back to my pack," Raphael says and gives me a tiny smile. "Goodbye." He turns around before I can utter a word and starts heading towards the woods. Why does it feel like he's saying a final goodbye?
