The Alpha Wants Everything Book 2 The Devil's Baker

Chapter 10: Church Bell Crush A Whore!

“Be careful of the histories you read Elijah, they don’t always tell the whole backstory. Before I became The Devil, I was just a boy. I got pushed too far” Adonis looked at Elijah,

“Clearly sir!” Elijah answered, that gave him a bit to think about.

“They better get back here with food soon. I’m not sure how much more I can take.” Adonis grumbled, his stomach growling just as loudly. Lets go over and see her, clearly she’s home! Odin grumbled, he was hungry too, and it was making him grumpy.

“Just think, you’ll be smelling everything she cooks” Elijah stated, a slight smirk on his face.

“Thanks for reminding me….asshole!” Adonis got up from his seat, and started going back through the boxes. He had to do something to take his mind off the aromas coming from next door, he wasn’t ready to let her know that he owned the house beside hers.

After wandering around the grocery store, Jackson and Tyler were slightly disappointed they couldn’t go to the bakery. A sign on the door said it would be closed till Friday.

“Why you think the bakery close?” Tyler asked, they heard a few whispers of different stories being told but paid no attention.

“Don’t know! Suck though, ain’t no bread at the grocery store” Jackson replied,

“The fuck that bout? The fuck kinda grocery store don’t has a bakery?” Tyler huffed.

“One that rely on the bakery bein open” Jackson replied,

“Maybe it got somein to do wit all the whispers we hearin?” Tyler guessed,

“Maybe, they whisperin bout her, so her close the bakery. That be a lesson, don’t piss the baker off.” Jackson said, Tyler nodded. They walked into the diner, Patrick looked up at them arching an eyebrow.

“We won’t start nuttin in the diner, we promise, we take it outside” Jackson said looking back at him. Patrick nodded his head, moving towards the counter, he looked over at Maggie with a slight grin on his face.

“What will you boys have?” He asked,

“Eight burgers wit the works please” Jackson replied, again Patrick nodded.

“Wait here!” Jackson and Tyler nodded, taking seats on the stools at the counter.

“The name of the baker again? Kenzi, right?” Tyler asked in a hush tone.

“Yeah, Lil Kenzi Cakes why?” Jackson replied,

“Them fellas at the other end talkin bout her” Tyler answered,

“What they sayin?” Jackson asked, looking at the two guys sitting at the other end of the counter, locked in a hushed conversation.

“They sayin her a….a….a I don’t like sayin that word, that’s what they callin her though” Tyler said, stealing a glance in their direction.

“That not right, they shouldn’t be callin her that. Her a sweetheart, a good girl. Her good people, shouldn’t be callin good people that.” Jackson didn’t like that, Kenzi was the first real person he met here and he liked her, she was nice.

“Yeah, they sayin someone wrote it all over her car in spray paint an flatten her tires.” Tyler continued,

“The fuck someone do that?” Jackson asked,

“Sayin her took someone’s man or somein” Tyler replied,

“Nah! Lil Kenzi Cakes wouldn’t do that, her good people. That why the bakery close, they din’t piss her off, they make her cry. That not right, not right at all, the fuck the lady sayin?” Jackson asked as he watched the older lady behind the counter move over to talk to them.

“Tellin ’em to knock it off” Tyler answered,

“Yeah, they not listenin!” Tyler said after a bit.

HEY!” Jackson yelled, catching the attention of the whole diner. “Y’all shouldn’t be talkin bout Lil Kenzi Cakes like that. Her a nice girl, you shouldn’t be callin her that.” Jackson said to them, his jaw was set and his fists clenched, if he hadn’t made his promise he would take care of it right now.

“What’s it to you?” One called back.

“Her my friend, you keep talkin bout her like that, I’ma come over there an we gonna take the conversation outside.” Jackson warned. The guys eyes widened and he put his head down looking away from Jackson. The commotion caught the attention of both Maggie and Patrick. Giving each other a look, Maggie moved closer towards them.

“You keep an ear on that conversation Tyler” Jackson said,

“Yeah!” Tyler agreed. They both sat there waiting for their order to be ready, Tyler faced the other side of the counter while Jackson kept his back to the men listening to the other conversations in the diner.

“They still talkin bout her” Tyler informed him, Jackson nodded

“So the others,” Jackson replied.

“Whatcha wanna do?” Tyler asked,

“Teach a lesson. Wait for the food Tyler, I be back” Jackson answered, getting up from his seat.

Jackson walked towards the two men and stopped right in front of them.

“Can we help you?” One of them asked,

“Maybe! I got a problem, you talkin shit bout my friend even though I ask you to stop. Callin her a slut, I ain’t over there callin you momma, or sister a slut. For all I know yur girlfriend a slut an I ain’t callin her that either. So my problem is this, you ever talk to my friend before.” The man shook his head,

“The fuck you know that what her is? Kenzi a good girl, an don’t deserve that. Her a real sweetheart, an it piss me off when stupid people say shit like that bout good people.” Jackson leaned on the counter, the man swallowed hard.

“I’m sorry!” He replied,

“You sorry! Nah, you not, if you was sorry you wouldn’t has kept callin her that, if you was sorry you wouldn’t has call her that in the firs place. Now you an I gonna finish this conversation outside.” The other man shook his head. Jackson laughed and looked at his brother.

“I think he under the impression he get a choice an you’s askin” Tyler said, starting to laugh,

“I think you might be right brother.” Turning back to the man, “Cept’ you don’t has a choice cause I ain’t askin. Now get up before I pull yur bitch ass off that stool” Jackson said the laughter dying in his eyes as he stood to his full height. His muscles rippled across his chest. The man continued to shake his head at him then tried to back away. Losing his patience Jackson just grabbed him and dragged him out of the diner.

“Stupids always try to run,” Tyler muttered, laughing.

“You boys aren’t from around here.” Maggie said as she stood in front of Tyler.

“No ma’am, we jus move here the other day from Ottawa” Tyler replied,

“Ottawa! I would have figured Alberta” Maggie commented,

“We originally from there, then move to Ottawa then move here.” Tyler replied.

“So you met Kenzi?” She asked,

“No, I din’t, but my brother did this mornin. He say her a sweetheart, an if he say her good people, then her good people. He a good judge of character, gotta a real sense bout it. That guy a asshole, shouldn’t call girls that, even if they are, you shouldn’t call ’em that. Whores fine but not that.” Tyler said,

“Maggie Wendall” Maggie introduced herself.

“Nice to meet you Maggie Wendall, Tyler Monroe, you can call me Tyler. The big guy was my older brother Jackass.” Tyler said, standing up and accepting her hand. “How you know Kenzi?” Tyler asked, retaking his seat.

“I work with her at the bakery” Maggie replied,

“We try to go to the bakery, but it close. That kinda suck, but it ok. Prolly somein to do wit what they was talkin bout?” Tyler more asked then stated the last part. Maggie just nodded,

“Mess up her car pretty good huh? Yeah, that not right, that not right at all.” Tyler shook his head.

“There’s a rumour going around that Kenzi tried to steal someone else’s man” Maggie explained, looking at him curiously,

“We heard the whispers in the grocery store, paid no attention to ’em. Prefer to make our own opinions of people. It usually more accurate then somein a bunch of stupids say.” Tyler replied, nodding. Maggie smiled and nodded.

“The girl that spread the rumour, she’s…. Well let’s just say she’s not very nice. Think she had her eyes on someone else that just moved here from Ottawa.” Maggie said she was fishing for information.

“Ain’t that interestin!” Tyler replied, smiling at her,

“Isn’t it though,” Maggie said, smiling back.

“My friend move here from Ottawa, he the reason my brother an I move, say we has to come down. It a nice town. He ain’t lyin. It a nice town, stupid people, but nice town. I tell you somein though, my friend, ain’t interest in whores.” Tyler stated matter of factly looking at her.

“Good to know” was all Maggie had a chance to say, before they heard a loud crash from outside followed by another one and something that sounded like a dumpster being slammed shut. Tyler started laughing hysterically and Maggie flashed him a questioning look.

Jackson walked back into the diner looking towards the other man sitting at the end of the counter, his eyes widened as Jackson moved in his direction. The whole diner fell silent as he walked towards him.

“Hey, Jackass, this Maggie Wendall, her work wit Lil Kenzi Cakes at the bakery” Jackson looked over at the woman, and flashed her a big smile.

“Nice to meet you Maggie Wendall, Jackson Monroe. If you’ll excuse me I has more conversin to do, I be right back” Jackson shook her hand briefly before he continued to where he was headed.

“I never said she was that” Were the first words out of the man’s mouth.

“No, you jus sat there like a big stupid an let you friend call her that though, Kenzi a good girl” Jackson replied,

“Yeah Kenzi’s great, I like Kenzi, she’s a nice girl” The man nodded his head. Jackson’s gaze was intense as he stared at the man.

“Her a sweetheart, an don’t deserve that” Jackson said,

“No, no she doesn’t” the man agreed shaking his head,

“You know her doesn’t, why din’t you say somein then?” His increase in breathing and the fear coming off of him had Jackson fighting back the smile that threatened to cross his face. Ko liked the fear the man was giving off, shifting in Jackson’s head intensified his gaze at the man.

“Her a good girl an you like her, why din’t you say nuttin? Why you continue to sit there like a big stupid?” Jackson repeated,

“I….I….I….” the man couldn’t form words as Jackson continued to stare at him.

“Yeah, that what I thought. I don’t wanna hear her call that ever again. I don’t wanna hear no more shit bout that girl.” Though Jackson’s sole focus was the man sitting at the end of the counter, the message was being conveyed to the rest of the patrons in the diner as well. “Now pay for your shit an get the fuck out. Or you an I can take this conversation outside an you can join yur friend” Jackson said. The man nodded, reaching into his wallet pulling out some money and putting it on the counter. He quickly walked by Jackson without saying another word.

“Anybody else? I can converse all day” Jackson asked the others in the diner. All their heads snapped to their food, no one had anything to say.

“Yeah, he a real yappy gabbo,” Tyler commented, referring to his brother. Maggie snickered a bit, as she watched Jackson move back towards the counter.

“Litter bug, litter bug” Tyler said to Jackson laughing,

“Nu uh! I put the trash where it belong” He replied back grinning at his brother.

“Aside from a select few of us, you were the second person who has said something to defend Kenzi.” Maggie said,

“Her a sweet girl, I like her. That not right, it bullshit an her don’t deserve it,” Jackson replied. He would kick everyone’s ass in this town twice if he had too, Lil Kenzi Cakes deserved better.

“She is a sweet girl, and she doesn’t deserve what this town puts her through.” Maggie agreed.

Speaking for a bit longer, their food was finally ready. Patrick handed over the two bags of burgers and fries with a questioning look.

“I took it outside” Jackson stated with a grin, causing both Maggie and Tyler to start laughing.

“Yeah!” Was all he could say. Tyler grabbed the food while Jackson paid.

“It was nice meeting you boys” Maggie exclaimed still laughing,

“You too! Thanks for the burgers!” Jackson replied,

“You’re welcome, thanks for taking it outside” Patrick said,

“Welcome, might want to fish him out the dumpster though” Tyler started laughing all over again.

“Twice?” He asked, between breaths

“Always!” Jackson replied,

“Twice? You beat him twice, before you threw him in the dumpster?” Patrick asked,

“Once is a lesson, twice gonna hurt more. Help you member it!” Jackson replied with a wink as he and Tyler moved towards the door.

“You folks have a good night now!” Tyler and Jackson waved goodbye as they walked out of the diner still laughing.

“Leave them be Patrick. They’re good boys. Besides there’s a few people in this town that could use being told a few things….twice” Maggie chimed in patting his shoulder.

“Very true my darling” Patrick kissed the side of her head. Maybe these boys were exactly what this town needed.

“The fuck the name of the Alpha kid….Carly, Karen, Carmen….somein stupid like that?” Tyler asked,

“Cory, Corine, Kara, Kiara, yeah Kiara, why?” Jackson asked back,

“Maggie say her the one spreadin the rumour that Lil Kenzi Cakes is a…..call her that.” Tyler replied,

“Is that so? The fuck her wanna go do a stupid thin like that?” Jackson asked, they were heading back towards the truck but slowed their walk when they were passing the bakery. They could hear the displeased comments from some of the townsfolk that the bakery wasn’t open and wouldn’t be open for a few days.

“Serve ’em right. Her say it was cause the whore claim Adonis an Kenzi stole him” Tyler replied,

“How you claim somein that don’t belong to you? How you steal somein that do? Church bell should crush that whore” Jackson huffed hearing this.

“That be funny, church bell crush a whore. That be ironic!” Tyler said laughing all over again, he could hear Bal laughing in his head as well.

“Funny, yeah, but I don’t think that ironic.” Jackson said laughing as well,

“You sure? Soun ironic to me!” Tyler asked,

“Don’t know, but don’t think so!” Jackson replied,

“The fuck ironic?” Jackson shrugged,

“Bet Eli would know he know all them big fancy words” Jackson said,

“Yeah, call Eli!” Tyler said getting in the driver seat,

“The fuck I has to call?” Jackson asked,

“I drivin!” Tyler replied,

“Make sense!” Jackson nodded, pulling out his phone.

Elijah was going through more boxes, when his phone started ringing. Looking at the ID, he saw Jackson’s name, releasing a sigh, he picked up.

“What can I do for you Jackson?” He asked,

“I ask you somein?”

“Do I have a choice?” Elijah could hear Adonis laughing at him. No one had a choice when Jackson asked a question.

“Not really, I ask anyway”

“Then go ahead” he released another sigh.

“Is a church bell crushin a whore ironic?”

“What?” He couldn’t have possibly heard that right. Adonis looked at him with a quizzical look. Putting the phone on speaker so Adonis could hear the question as well.

“Is a church bell crushin a whore ironic?”

“No, that’s not ironic!” Elijah answered,

“Eli say that not ironic, funny as fuck but not ironic”

“I never said that, I never said that” Elijah looked at Adonis

They could hear Tyler say something but couldn’t make out what it was.

“Tyler wanna know what ironic is?”

“Something that happens in the opposite way as to be expected. A fire station burning down would be ironic” Elijah tried to explain,

“Eli say it’s somein happenin the opposite what you expect. A fire station burnin down would be ironic,”

They could hear Tyler now as he started laughing.

“Yeah that be funny a fire station burnin, cause they posed to stop fires”

“Police station gettin robbed”

“Ambulance runnin you over on its way to help you”

“That be a way to go though”

“They’re utterly insane” Elijah muttered as he listened to them laugh at being run over by an ambulance on its way to help you.

“They come by the title demon brothers for a reason” Adonis said quietly.

“Bet a church bell fallin on a pastor is ironic”

“Ha ha! No no, a pastor gettin nailed wit the cross”

“Oh, oh, decapitated by it”

“Ha! That be funny. I go to church if that happen. Sittin in the pew, pastor sayin his piece then BAM! Head be rollin, people be screamin. That be funny!”

“What a church bell crushin a whore then?”

They heard silence on the other end. It was a morbid curiosity to hear what they had to say about that.

“Karmic justice!” Jackson finally said,

“What?”

“Yeah, Karmic justice. Karma come collect yur debt, bite yur ass!”

“Yeah, karmic justice. Maybe we should avoid churches?”

“Nah, we be fine. See told you Eli know all them big fancy words”

“Yeah, he really smart”

“I think they forgot you’re on the phone” Adonis said, still laughing

“I think so!” Elijah agreed.

“Maybe we shouldn’t bug him so much, I like Eli, don’t wanna has to break in a new one”

“Yeah, what if we don’t like the new one?”

“Should I be concerned?” Elijah looked at Adonis, who was just as shocked by that comment as Elijah was.

“Maybe we should learn how to pronounce his name”

“Wait what? You big stupid, it Eli” Tyler spoke,

“No, I call him Eli cause I can’t pronounce his name”

“Eli not his name?”

“No, it’s Elijuh, or Elijah or somein like that. Could never pronounce it an I din’t want to offend him by callin him the wrong name so I call him Eli”

“They have no idea how ironic this conversation actually is” Elijah commented, pinching the bridge of his nose.

“No, they don’t.” Adonis replied,

“Why din’t you jus ask him?”

“I forgot! Then the years went by an I din’t wanna look stupid”

“That makes sense, what does Adon call him?”

“Asshole in the fancy suit”

“Oh, he call everbody asshole though. Sometime I don’t think he like us”

“He like us. He call us assholes cause he like us, he smiles when he says it. When he call us idiot, he mad at us. Fuckin idiot he big time mad at us. Fuckin idiot while pinchin his nose, you better run you bout to get hit. But he like us, if he din’t, you wouldn’t be Delta an I wouldn’t be Beta.”

“I don’t think Eli like us though” Jackson spoke again after another pause.

“We been callin him by the wrong name for eight years”

“Yeah, we should really learn his name,” Jackson agreed.

“Nex time someone say it we pay attention. Hey, it’s Adonis right, not Adoniz?”

“Yeah Adonis. I call him Adoni for two months once he hit me evertime I say it”

“Why you keep callin him that then?”

“I thought it grow on him”

“Guessin it din’t?”

“Nope, din’t like it”

“Church bell crush a whore still funny though”

“Ha! Ko howlin, he like the decapitated pastor wit a cross too.”

“Yeah, Bal thought that was pretty funny too. Hey, you think this town got a church?”

“I’m sure it does”

“Oh dear Goddess, are they going to go to church just to see if the cross will decapitate the pastor?” Elijah looked at Adonis,

“I would be more worried if those two assholes tried to decapitate the pastor with it,” Adonis replied, smiling. Might need to go to church!

“I stand by my previous remark, those two are utterly insane” Elijah said,

“Well you can either hang up, or keep listening to their utterly insane conversation….Eli” Adonis laughed and walked away.

Pulling into the driveway, Jackson and Tyler grabbed the food and what groceries they bought and headed towards the house.

“The fuck that?” Tyler asked, motioning towards a basket sitting on the front step. It was piled high with fresh baked goods, Jackson’s mouth started watering at the smell of it. That basket could have only come from one person.

“Look like a welcome basket. Told ya, her a sweetheart” A big grin spread across his face as he looked to the house next door. Grabbing the basket they walked into the house.

“Did you buy out the bakery while you were in town?” Elijah asked when he saw the basket.

“Nah, the bakery close till Friday. This sittin on the front step” Jackson replied, putting the food they purchased from the diner down.

“The bakery was closed?” Adonis asked,

“Yeah, somein bout a rumour, her bein call a slut an her car” Jackson replied,

“Yeah, Jackass dumpster somebody” Tyler added,

“He wouldn’t stop callin her that so I made him stop” Jackson claimed, he didn’t feel he needed to defend himself. He had every right to do what he did. Kenzi was a good girl and she was going to be his Luna, it was his honour to defend her.

“Mrs. Wendall say the whore start the rumour cause Kenzi stole you from her” Tyler offered as he put the basket on the table next to the food.

“I wanna know the fuck in the basket,” Jackson stated, eyeing the basket closely. Grabbing all the food they headed towards the kitchen. Handing out the burgers and fries they ate those first, before they started pulling things out of the basket. Jackson and Tyler also stopped by the liquor store as well, they handed out beer to wash down the burgers.

Polishing off their second burgers they finally dug into the welcome basket. They pulled out cookies, muffins, cupcakes, brownies, danish bars. So much more stuff.

“The fuck her get it all in there?” Tyler asked as they kept pulling items out. Before he could hear an answer his phone went off, and he left the kitchen to check it.

“The fuck her have time to make it all?” Jackson asked. All items were labelled and there was a short and simple note.

Welcome to the naybordhood Home!

“That nice!” Jackson commented,

“She is very talented!” Elijah remarked as they finished pulling the last of the items from the basket. How she managed to get all of that in the basket and baked in one morning baffled them. It did however explain the mouth watering aromas that were coming over from her house. Tyler walked back into the kitchen, his expression was a mix of anger and concern.

“The fuck on the phone?” Jackson asked, seeing the look on his brother’s face.

“Noone. I got the record unseal for Adam Walsh. Um….” Tyler scratched the back of his head, he wasn’t entirely sure how to say the next part. He could feel Bal raging in his head at what he found out, and knew this would set Jackson off, but worse it would set Adonis off.

“What?” Sensing his apprehension, Adonis demanded he tell what he found out.

“Um….he has….had five assault charges lay agains him, by ex-girlfriends. Four of em drop the charges after his daddy pay em off, but the fifth one couldn’t be bought, an she um….disappear an they had to drop the charges agains him” Tyler stated. The room fell into a deadly silence, at the words Tyler just spoke. They could see him fighting to keep control of Bal, his eyes would flash with Bal pushing to come forward. Though he has yet to meet Kenzi he already felt the connection to her, his job as Delta was to protect her.

“That explain the bruises!” Jackson said. They all turned to look at him, liquid gold swirled in his eyes and no matter how many times he blinked, Ko refused to be pushed back.

What?” Adonis growled out,

“Her got bruises on her face an neck, like someone grab her. Her say it a accident, an it wasn’t his fault, but Ko went nuts in my head, took everthin I had to keep him in check. Her also gotta deep gash on her forehead, say it happen after her head smack off the cupboard from a fall” Jackson could feel Ko getting more and more angry at what he was told. HE DIES! Odin howled his fury, Adonis spun on his heel and stormed out the back door, he needed to release his anger before he did something he was pretty sure he wouldn’t regret.

….grrrRRRrrrRrRRRrRrrrRRRrrrr….

He walked deep into the woods behind his house and released a loud menacing growl. It ripped through the air, his body shook with rage. Plan B just came into effect! We will rip him apart! We will not go easy on him! Feeling slightly calmer he walked back to the house. They would busy themselves until the anger completely subsided.
