The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon (Raine & Amari)

The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon Chapter 85

Chapter 85

AMARIS

This has gone too far. I have reached the limit of my patience.

Ross came back into the cave. “No sign of her. And the darkness has gone too. Definitely the work of witches.”

Joanna shook her head. “No, no. Not witches. The shadow dragons.” She began coughing badly and I met Rhona’s pleading

stare.

“Ross, take Joanna back to Healer Gwyneth.” She must survive. I needed her help to find Raine. “Hurry.”

“What do we do now, Your Majesty?” Vincent asked me when I crawled out of the cave. The moon had defeated the darkness like Ross said and from its pale light I saw more disturbing sights. The surrounding area were scattered with bits of flesh and bone. What the hell happened there?

“Do you still want to be a part of this pack?” I wanted to do the ritual as soon as possible. As I looked at their individual faces, they all nodded in agreement. “Good. I need loyal fighters. There’s going to be a bloodbath.”

Returning to the castle I found Lord Greyson with a grim expression on his face. I fought the urge to groan. What could possibly have gone wrong now?

“The prince and his mate are gone, Sire.”

“What do you mean they’re gone? Gone where?”

“Disappeared into thin air! We’ve searched everywhere. The guards patrolling their wing were found dead.”

‘The council!’ Rage roared at me. “They’re trying to save him from us.’

“The council took Raine as well. Follow me.” I went to the stone circle to pick up my sword and the golden chalice. “We’ll celebrate your joining after we get the queen back.” I sliced open my palm and let the blood flow into the chalice swear loyalty to me, your king and Alpha.”

One by one they passed the cup between them and swore their oath. Soon after I felt the connection to them s place.

“What is your plan, Sire? We can’t just storm in there and demand they release them, and we cannot leave the castle unprotected.” Lord Greyson was a strategist whereas I was more of a doer.

“If you have a plan, Greyson, better be quick about it. I’m done playing to the council’s tunes. They’re demanding I step down or they will kill Raine.” Neither of the two was an option for me.

There was no time to rest. After a quick shower and grabbing something to eat on the way I hurried to Healer Gwyneth’s clinic. Rhona remained at her mother’s bedside where she was being closely monitored hooked up to machines to help her breathe and pushing fluids into her. I was surprised to see Rhona’s father present.

“How is she?” I asked Gwyneth.

“She’s holding on. We’re doing what we can, Your Majesty.” She patted Rhona’s back. “We’ll just have to wait.”

Rhona’s father approached me. I didn’t know him personally, but he tended the castle gardens beautifully. He bowed

respectfully. “I appreciate what you are trying to do, Your Majesty. Joanna and I have been carrying our secret for years. Now we can finally be together. I only hope it’s not too late for us.”

“Yes, we can only hope. Rhona, a moment please.” There still a lot of explanations I needed.

“I’ll call you if there’s any change.” Gwyneth reassured her and she followed me out.

“Mother told me they took her. The council, I mean. But I didn’t see anything.” Rhona talked while we walked through the

and clinic gardens. “She was screaming for Milady to run and then there was this force, like some giant hand picked me up threw me against the rocks. When I came to my senses my mother lay there looking like a broken doll.” The tears streamed down her face, “And Her Majesty was gone.”

“It’s alright, Rhona.” I put my arm around her shoulders, and she leaned into me, sobs racking her body.

“I promise you; we’ll get her back.” That still didn’t help me much. “What happened before that? I saw a lot of blood and guts everywhere spattered over the rocks and the trees.”

Rhona sniffled, wiping her nose with her sleeve. “We were attacked by rogues. Her Majesty killed all of them. It was terrifying. She almost killed us in the process, but Mother helped her to stop.”

“How? How did Raine manage to do that?”

“She made them explode.”

The guards I sent to watch over her were ripped to pieces. I was convinced vampires did that but now I had second thoughts.

Lord Greyson had advised me to speak to the council before I did anything rash. I decided to humor him this once.

“Ross, organize a conference call with the council.” I burst into my office where Ross was busy reading through my emails.

“What? No charging into their building? Lord Greyson is already planning a siege as we speak.” He was being ironic. I didn’t appreciate his dry humor.

“I’ll get right on it, Your Majesty. What do you want to achieve by this? Do you think they will hand her over just like that?”

“No, I don’t. I want to reply to their message, Ross. They think they can manipulate me. I am not my brother.”

“Going through.” He moved out of my seat, and I waited for the heads of council to appear on my laptop.

“Well, well, look who it is. Miss something?” Athan’s grinning face came into view. It had to be him.

I fought the urge to smash my fist into the screen.

“Where is she? Show her to me.” I clutched the desk so hard my fingers left imprints into the wood.

“Would if I could, Amaris. But sadly, no. She is busy at the moment.” He swiped a finger over his lips. “I can s

He was trying to goad me. “You’re a liar!” Goddess help me, he needs to die!

“Don’t forget, Amaris. You owe me and you know my conditions” He sat back to grin at me.

“You have no claim over her, Bloodsucker. Let me make this clear to you, I am coming for you and this time I will end y I snarled at his ugly mug.

“I see you

received our message, King Amaris.” Finn Pendragon’s haughty face filled the screen. “We’ll only deliver her when your brother is crowned.” The king of dragons’ steepled his fingers together and peered at me over it.

“If you have her, I demand to speak to her.”

Queen Elif, the queen of the Fae interjected. “You are by no means in a position to demand anything, Amaris. Appear here at the council and we will discuss the terms of your surrender.”

How arrogant was she? “The terms of my…” I snorted out a laugh “Where is my brother?”

“In a safe place.” Pendragon answered. “You have no other choice but to surrender. This isn’t a fight you will win, Amaris.”

“Do not be so sure of yourself, Finn. I know you have that spineless brat hiding under your robes. Give him a message for me. I am coming for him.”

I snapped the laptop shut to end the call.

“Send word out to all the packs. Those who are with me must report by first light tomorrow. We march.”
