The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon (Raine & Amari)

The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon Chapter 82

Chapter 82

RAINE

“We will protect you, Your Majesty! Get into the cave.” Bart shouted right before he shifted into wolf form.

The rogues were everywhere, peeling out behind the rocks and bushes, their foul smell polluting the fresh mountain air. Their coats were mangy, crazed eyes fixed on us as they stalked nearer, snarling threateningly.

Rhona did the same as Bart, letting her wolf rip through her clothes. ‘Get in the cave, Milady!’ I heard her panicked voice in my head.

There were so many of them! The four of us were no match for them. My heart galloped like a wild horse in my chest, fear rooted me to the ground. Amaris… If only I could link him, but we were too far away.

“Joanna?!” She could help us, she had to. Hiding in the cave was not an option. We would be trapped.

‘Use your power!’ Tasha screamed at me, ‘That is our only choice!’

But how? I couldn’t just use it at will. That wasn’t how it worked.

I jumped around to plead with Joanna for help, but she just stood there, calmly watching with her arms folded under her breasts. What the hell was her deal? We were about to get massacred!

“Do something!” I screamed at her.

“Come on Raine. Use the force of nature.” Joanna said. “Believe in yourself. Use it, wield it like a weapon!”

Believe in myself?! The rogues were attacking! They were all over Rhona and Bart. The two of them were fighting them off, but they kept on coming. The mountains echoed with the sounds of snarling, yipping and yowling.

I couldn’t bear to see my friends being slaughtered.

Then I felt it, like a coiled rope being slowly unwound, it began low in my stomach, rising, rising until…

A huge rogue managed to slam Rhona down and launched himself at me. Instinctively I lifted my hands to ward off the attack. It was as if time stood still. The rogue froze in mid-air and just as I did with the whirlwind, I wished it to go away. Only this time, this time the wolf didn’t disappear. He exploded! Blood and guts and pieces of bone rained down on us, covering me in gore.

But I couldn’t make it stop. I was out of control, a powerful force flowed through my hands, growing and as it grew, the rogues were lifted into the air and exploded one by one until there was none left. And still, I couldn’t stop. Rhona and Bart lay whimpering on the ground, digging their claws into the rocks to try and get away from me.

“Help me!” I pleaded with Joanna. “I can’t hold it…”

She rushed forward to grab hold of me, whipping me around to face her. “It’s over. The danger’s over.” She held onto my arms firmly pressing them down to my sides. “Breathe, slow your heartrate.”

“I killed them. I killed them.” I repeated those words over and over like a mantra, hyperventilating. The air felt like soup in my lungs. Gradually the pulsating feeling receded until there was nothing left but a slight tingling in my fingertips.

“You did what you had to do to protect yourself.” Joanna said, folding me into her arms.

“I don’t want this, Joanna. Why is this happening to me?” I sobbed into her shoulder.

“Your Majesty, are you alright?” Bart and Rhona had changed back into their human forms. “What the hell happened?”

“I almost killed you!” I couldn’t stop shaking. This power was too dangerous. “Amaris should have let me go with Joyce. I am going to get all of you killed.”

“But you didn’t, Milady. You didn’t. You saved us all of us.” Rhona hugged me from the side. “We can’t let them take you.”

“Rhona is right. They all have their own agenda. Amaris was right to let you stay. You can do this, Raine. We believe in you.” She stroked my blood and gore-soaked hair out of my face.

“Joanna, but I didn’t have control over it. I wanted to destroy everything.” I was crying and shaking like a leaf. I felt the same way I did when I wanted to kill Sorin. A part of me felt joy in the destruction and it horrified me.

“It’s alright. This power is connected to your emotions. Learn to control your emotions and you’ll be able to bend that power to your will.” She sounded so sure of herself.

Easy for her to say. Learn to control my emotions? It could be because of the pregnancy that all my emotions were heightened.

I noticed Bart stared at me as if I had grown horns or an extra head. That was why I didn’t want him or any of the guards there.

“You should go back to the castle. Amaris needs to know about the rogues.” I gave him a reason to leave.

“Yes, yes, Your Majesty.” He turned and ran down the path the way we came, eager to get away from the witch queen.

“Anyone else starving? I’m going to start the fire.” Joanna released me to wipe her hands on her denim clad legs.

How she could think of food at this time was beyond me.

“Rhona, take Raine to the stream nearby to get clean. There’s extra clothing in my bag. But be alert.”

Rhona held her hand for me to take, smiling. “Let’s go Milady.”

The night was clear, and the moon gave adequate light for us to make our way through the rocks. I heard the gurgling of water nearby to my relief, couldn’t wait to rid myself of the sticky mess that had started to congeal on my body.

We had just reached the silver stream when I felt the fine hairs at my nape stand to attention. There was a change in the atmosphere and both Rhona and I felt it.

“What’s going on? Why is it so dark?” Rhona said and we looked up in time to see the moon disappearing behind a dark shadow. “This isn’t right. There wasn’t supposed to be an eclipse tonight.”

I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were being watched. “Rhona, I don’t think we’re alone.”

Then we heard a bone-chilling scream pierce the darkness.
