The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon (Raine & Amari)

The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon Chapter 71

Chapter 71

RAINE

Amaris sat at the window watching the first rays of sun breaking through the golden clouds. Neither of us slept much. He was restless and I was afraid of what he might do. I laid my hands on his naked shoulders, kneading the tense muscles.

His head leaned back to rest against my chest, sighing. “You just know what I need, my little mate.

I want to please you, my Lord.” I dropped a  on the top of his head. How I wished I could make all the frown lines that etched his brow disappear.

He smiled briefly. “You please me just by your presence, Raine. Come here.” He patted his lap, and I went to straddle him, holding onto his shoulders. “There is no place I would rather be than right here with you.”

“What will happen to us, Amaris? What will happen if the council decides you should reject me?” I’ve wanted to ask him that earlier, but he was so worked up that I left it. It was no secret that a mating between a witch and a werewolf was forbidden. Although I wasn’t even sure I was a witch.

“Nothing will happen, Raine.” I wanted to believe that, needed to hear him say it. “I will never reject you.”

The  we shared was desperate, needy, and hungry. We clung to each other not wanting to part but Ross‘ voice sounded in our minds.

‘Sorry to disturb, Your Majesties, but the emissaries have arrived.”

” !” Amaris groaned, “At the crack of dawn… Well, I guess we need to get dressed, my sweet.” He lifted me off his lap and I linked Rhona and the others to help me get ready.

Ross met us halfway to the throne room. He hurried towards us. “They’re waiting in there. I’ve arranged for breakfast to be served to them there. Hope you don’t mind, Your Majesty.” He addressed me because I was supposed to

organize that

“Thank you, Beta Ross. They’ve arrived a lot earlier than expected.”

Ross grimaced. “Yes, well… There are three of them, but be careful with the Fae, Your Majesties.”

“I know how unpredictable they are, Ross. I have some experience.” Amaris. chuckled bitterly. “Who is their representative this time?”

“Tahlia Yinfir.” Ross said. “The second in command of the Elven Queen.”

Amaris grunted a non–committal reply. “Well, let’s get this over with.” He held out his hand for me to take and we entered the throne room. “Give us a few minutes before you send the elders in.”

“Tanwen Pendragon, Joyce Rowe and Tahlia Yinfir… May I present to you His Majesty Amaris Black and Queen Raine Black.” Ross introduced us to the three emissaries of the Supernatural Council who all bowed politely. The servants. had just come in to remove the remains of their breakfast.

“Welcome and please be seated.” Amaris greeted them as we took our place on the thrones. This time I sat on my own throne and felt a bit lost, missing our closeness.

I felt their scrutinizing eyes on me, sizing me up, and it made me feel uncomfortable. But I kept my pose and smiled politely back at them.

The tall man who was introduced as Tanwen Pendragon stood up to approach the podium. He seemed young, although it was difficult to judge a dragon shifter’s age, maybe not more than thirty years with cobalt blue eyes that glittered like gems, cold and hard. His dark hair was slicked back from his broad forehead.

“I am sure you want us to get to the point and not waste your time, King Amaris.” His tone was clipped and curt. “We were sent here to list our grievances to you from our respective kingdoms.” He rocked back and forth on his heels to wait for Amaris‘ reply.

Amaris watched him thoughtfully. Then he said, “Well then, as you so rightly said I don’t want you to waste my time. Proceed.”

“It has come to our attention that you have violated the peace treaty by setting the Vampire King’s castle on fire and destroying his coven.”

“Let me stop you right there, Pendragon. He got what he deserved. Actually, he is still alive which is much more than he deserved.” Amaris bristled with anger, clutching the armrest of the throne. Just the mention of Athan had his temper flaring. I prayed he would not become extremely angry.

“We’re well aware of what happened, Your Majesty. The problem is that you didn’t follow the protocol.” The elven woman stood up to speak. “You should. have contacted the council and we would have acted together.” She was captivating to look at with her silver hair and symmetrical features.

Amaris scoffed at her words. “Am I not allowed to solve my own problems?”

“In your own kingdom, of course. But you attacked the Vampire King, which leads us to have no guarantees that you won’t attack our kingdom for whatever random reason.” Tanwen Pendragon said.

“Random reason!” Amaris‘ voice rose to a disturbing level. “He kidnapped my queen, used my subjects as slaves and blood bags. Is that not reason enough?!”

The other woman also approached. “Your Majesty, his version is that he purchased those werewolves in good faith. His words, not mine.” She straightened her dress. “In essence, he says you stole them from him.”

“Oh, for goodness’s sake!” I couldn’t remain silent any longer. “He is a liar!”

Amaris shook his head. “Yes, he did buy them. But not from me.”

The double doors opened to admit the elders who bowed respectfully and then took their seats.

“So, you do admit that they were his rightful property?” Tahlia Yinfir asked, her slanted eyes narrowing even more as she fixed her gaze on Amaris.

Amaris growled low. “Not,rightful. Someone in my kingdom helped him. Someone close to me.”

The dragon emissary held up his hand. “We don’t usually meddle in your internal affairs. The point is they were his property regardless of who he paid.

for them.”

“This is insane! He did this because of the restrictions that the council agreed on. To get back at me for enforcing it! Now when it suits you, you don’t meddle in my internal affairs as you so eloquently put it!” Amaris stood up with his fists balled at his sides. Rage pushed for control making Amaris‘ eyes shine.

Elder Mattias sat on the edge of his seat I noticed the small movement out of my peripheral vision.

“Forgive me, but what would you want us to do about it? Give those poor werewolves back to Athan?” I asked Pendragon.

The latter smiled at me, indulgently. “He is asking for compensation. With certain conditions, Your Majesty. But that is not all, Queen Raine. He claims. that you are his mate and that he didn’t kidnap you. He is demanding you be returned to him.”
