The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon Chapter 102
Chapter 102
AMARIS
The last of the dragon shifters took to the sky before the blood red sun had set behind the black mountain. Wolves and fae watched them leave, their triumphant howls and shouts echoing through the valleys. The enemy was gone, but we had suffered severe losses.
With the adrenaline of the fight fading fast, I leaned on Ross‘ shoulder to support myself. I was bleeding profusely and growing weaker by the second. My wound wasn’t healing. I looked down in astonishment at the gaping wound on my side. Why the hell is this happening?
‘Rage, why aren’t you healing me?”
He wasn’t responding. I staggered and held on firmly to Ross.
Ross embraced me in his excitement. “Amaris, you devil! For a moment there I thought you….” a cry of alarm left him when I sagged against him, my legs no longer supporting me.
It
grew silent around us.
“Amaris! You’re still bleeding!” He grabbed me underneath my armpits. “Lord Greyson, help!”
I was vaguely aware of being carried somewhere before I blacked out.
“Why isn’t he healing?” I heard Ross‘ panicked voice cry out.
Warm hands on my body. Healer Gwyneth’s face appeared before me through a haze. I groaned as her hands probed the site of my injury. The slightest touch left me writhing in agony. It felt as if I was burning with icy fire.
“The dragon poisoned us, idiot Human!‘ I heard Rage snarl at me. “Thanks to your arrogance, we’re dying.’
I didn’t have the strength to argue with him. Gwyneth bandaged my wound, but still the blood seeped through. I caught a whiff of my blood, and it had a strange, foreign odor to it.
“Dragon venom.” I heard Gwyneth reply to Ross. “I have no cure for that.”
“Well, you’d better find one, Healer! You can’t let him die!” Ross snarled at her.
“Beta Ross, I’ll do what I can to alleviate his pain.” Gwyneth’s voice sounded like it was coming from
far away, then suddenly closer, then far away again.
Ross bent over me. “Amaris, can you hear me?” his face swam before me.
I grabbed his shirt to stop him from fading away.

Chapter 102
“Raine… I need Raine…” I groaned out. “Get. Her. back.” My only thought was of her. She was the only cure I needed.
“I’ll do my best. Rest.” He pressed me down onto the narrow bed.
I kept calling out for her. Searching. I thought I saw her walking in a meadow, looking over her shoulder at me. I ran after her, but as soon as I reached out, she was further away. Why wouldn’t she stop?
“Stop, don’t go!” I shouted for her to wait for me. Laughing, she shook her head. Honey hair floating on the breeze and danced away over the meadow. Trying to run after her, but she kept just out of reach, and I was tired. So tired.
“I need you, Raine. Don’t leave me.” I sank to the ground, unable to go any further. The earth. moved underneath me. I was sinking into it, drowning in the mud.
Athan appeared with Raine and my pup in his arms. I flailed my arms, trying to break free from the mud that was dragging me under, screaming at the vampire to let them go. But he only laughed at my desperate attempts to get at them.
“They were never yours, werewolf.” He laughed at me and held her tighter against him. She smiled. at him. The baby in his arms turned its head to hiss at me.
No! They were mine!
“Raine…” I held my hands out to her, but she just looked at me coldly.
“I’ve rejected you, Amaris. Accept it.” She said and walked away with Athan.
“No! No!” I would never accept it. Then the earth swallowed me.
“He keeps calling out for her.” I heard Gwyneth’s voice. “Didn’t she reject him?”
I tried to speak, to tell them no, Raine still loves me. Our bond was unbreakable. They weren’t listening.
Too many voices in head. All of them sounded disappointed and angry.
my
“The king is dying. Sorin will come and take over.”
“He’s the king we need.”
“No one wants you, Amaris. Not even Raine.”
I wanted to scream, stop them from talking. They just kept on, on and on. Telling me how useless 1 was. How cowardly to leave Raine with the Magus. Even my wolf spewed hatred at me.

Chapter 102
“You should have let me take over. I would have taken her. Now we’re dying, Human!‘
I looked at him, and before my eyes, he slowly turned to dust. No, this can’t be happening!
“Amaris, drink this.” Someone held a glass to my lips, propping my head up. “It will relieve your fever.” A pungent liquid forced its way into my mouth. It tasted worse than shit, but I swallowed it anyway. I was dying of thirst and shivering. Cold. Never have I felt cold like this.
I opened my eyes to look into Joanna’s emerald–green ones. “What’s happening to me? Where is
Ross?”
“You’re running a high fever because of the dragon venom.” She gently stroked my hair back from my brow. “I gave you a potion I brewed to help bring the fever down. But it won’t stop the spread of the venom. We’re still searching for a cure.”
“Am I going to die?” I saw the reality on her face. “I am.” I fell back onto the pillows.
“Don’t say that.” Rhona kneeled next to the bed, holding my hand. “You must fight it, Your Majesty.”
“What’s the use?” I turned my head away. “My brother has won. I don’t have my queen or my pup. There is nothing left to live for.” I closed my eyes.
Joanna placed a cool cloth on my burning forehead. Why is she even bothering? I couldn’t even feel my wolf. Was he dead already?
“You shouldn’t lose hope, Amaris. The kingdom needs you, and Ross is determined to bring Raine to you.”
I groaned, “It’s no use. She has no choice but to stay with her father.” I have failed her, and I have failed the kingdom..
“If she knew you were injured, there would be no stopping her, Amaris.” Joanna smiled gently.
“How would she know? No, I have to accept that I will never see her again.”
But my heart yearned for her, called out to her. I would happily die if I could only hold her in my arms for one last time. Just one last time, Moon Goddess.
