The Alpha King's Series

Chapter CHAPTER 42

CHAPTER-FORTY-TWO

BRINLEY.

I'm not sure how to answer him. The truth is, I have no idea why I put myself in danger. I just knew in my bones that I had to try my best to protect the Kingdom and my family.

"Xander, there's no trace of Hael. It's like he disappeared,” Kyle tells him

Xander shook his head.

"Keep looking,"

Kyle nods.

"Here, these are for you, Brinley," Jerry says, handing me leggings in a shirt.

"Thanks," I mutter and walk behind a tree to put them on while Xander talks with Kyle and the guys. I can feel the fabric of the leggings stick to blood from the bite that Azel gave me.

I ignore the pain and walk to Xander's side.

"If he didn't exit the Kingdom, he must still be here,” Xander tells Kyle.

"But where?"

Xander sighs.

"I don't know,"

"He wants to make you suffer. If he couldn't do it with me,” I pause.

"Oh, no. The house the kids. Dominic," I said with a nausea feeling swirling in the pit of my stomach as I took off running towards the house.

Xander and Kyle are much faster than me. Even on foot, they blew past me in the direction of the palace.

Xander and Kyle ran into the house after the kids and Carol. I stopped to catch my breath when I was knocked over.

My head hit the ground, and I hissed in pain.

Hael dug his leg into my sore one, which made me whimper.

"I knew he would leave you unprotected to save his heir."

I was thrashing my body to try and move Hael off me; not only was he strong but heavy too.

“Let me go,"

He shook his head.

"The only way I'm letting you go is when your eyes roll to the back of your head, and your body lies lifeless underneath me."

"You're sick," I spit in his face.

His eyes turned black, and Hael's jaw ticked.

"You shouldn't have done that,” He says and slaps me. The whole right side of my face was numb. I'm not going to let this sick bastard see me cry.

I repeated this repeatedly as he landed another blow to my face.

It took all the strength I could muster to hit him as hard as possible with my head since Hael had both my hands trapped beneath his.

My head contacted his nose, and the crunch sound nearly made me vomit.

Blood poured from his nose, downfall? I have a splitting headache.

"Bitch," He grits out, grabbing my throat and cutting off my air supply.

My eyes go wide, and I try to suck in oxygen, but I can't his hold too strong.

Black dots form my vision, and I'm trying to hold on, but it's hard when my lungs need air. "You're paying for his mistakes,"

My hand gripping his forearm around my neck loosens and falls.

Xander.

When Brinley's eyes closed and her limbs fell limp, I could see red.

I ran over to her and kicked Hael off her body.

'Kyle get Brinley,’ I linked him and dropped myself on top of Hael.

I drew my fist back and punched his face repeatedly, and when he was limp, I still didn't stop; I kept going.

He dared to touch my mate, and he will pay with his fucking life

I grabbed Hael's head between my hands and snapped his neck to ensure he was dead and couldn't come after Brinley.

I stood up, wiping his blood on my jeans before going after my mate.

When I came through the front door, Brinley was lying flat on her back while Kyle was doing CPR. That moment when my heart sank, and I fell to my knees.

My heart and mind were at war.

My heart wanted to stay, hoping he would bring her back. While my mind wanted to go fucking kill Hael all over again.

"Come on, Brinley," Kyle says, still pushing on her chest.

He stops, lifts her head tilting back, plugs her nose, and breathes air into her lungs.

He does this once, twice, and a third time before he continues chest compressions

Brinley finally sucks in air, and Kyle sighs with relief, and I crawl over to her and scoop her into my lap.

"Little mate, you're alive," I say, stroking her cheek softly.

"I thought I'd lost you,”

She places her over mine and whispers.

"You ain't getting rid of me that easy,”

I chuckle.

She's back.

She's not dead.

She's here with me.

"I love you, little mate,”

"I love you too, Xander,"

I look over at Kyle.

"Thank you. For Saving her,"

"She's my queen and friend. I couldn't let her die,”

Brinley looks over at Kyle and smiles.

"Thank you,” She whispers and closes her eyes.

I shake her, and she opens them.

"I'm so tired. Let me sleep,” She mutters, closing her eyes again.

"Get Dr. Jacob's. I'll take her to our room. Send him when he gets here,”

Kyle nods and turns to leave.

Brinley.

Everything has gone back to normal since the attack a couple of weeks ago. Xander showed me how many children got adopted that night, and I was amazed; fourteen kids found homes. Sister Mary Danvers has managed to bring in more nuns and children, with more kids coming soon. She says it's all thanks to me.

Kelsy and Ryder moved to the Kingdom along with Delores and Kevin. Gabriel and Amanda even moved her when their pack got attacked last week, and nothing was left. So most of their pack members joined other packs while very few came here.

Gabriel is no longer an Alpha. I thought he'd be upset about it, but he wasn't. However, his father wasn't pleased he wanted Gabriel to rebuild, but Xander offered him a great job training the wolves and a great house for him and his family.

It turns out that Gabriel never really wanted to be an alpha, and he was forced to by his father. However, Gabriel's father plans to rebuild the shadow pack, but I doubt he gets any followers. He is a cruel man with bad intentions.

Kevin was offered a great teaching position at the high school; they were honored to have him giving his experience with the shadow pack middle school. Kevin can't wait to start Monday. Delores and Gabriella, and Eric are doing great and settling right in here. Delores says she's just glad to be near Kelsy and me.

Amanda is about to give birth, and she has decided to name him. Derek. Gabriel isn't fond of the name, but he said it was her choice.

He was just glad to carry a baby to term.

Kelsy and Ryder are doing great. Ryder and Gabriel are working together in the training fields, and Axel and Rose are doing fine. Axel starts school soon, and he is so excited.

Xander thought Ryder and Gabriel would be perfect for training because they were constantly competing.

As for Xander and I were doing great. I've even started looking at wedding stuff; though I haven't picked a date yet, it can't hurt to look. Right?

Dominic's heart is doing okay. The Dr said as long as the medication is working, there is no need to open him up. Also, the older he is, the better chance he will survive it.

Mija, I told you I could do the cooking. That's what I get paid for,"

"You can finish if you'd like?" I tell her to move away from the stove. She walks over and looks at the pots.

"But it's done," She frowns.

I chuckled.

"Yes. But you can make dessert. I have to talk with Xander,"

She nods.

"I'll make your favorite, cherry pie,”

"Mhm, that sounds great.”

Carol waves me on, and I wave at her before leaving the kitchen.

"Come in," Xander says from the other side of the door.

"Hey," I tell him as I walk in.

"Why did you knock?"

I shrug.

"I wasn't sure if you were busy,”

"I'm not," He says, folding his file down.

"Do you need anything?" He adds.

I shook my head.

"No. I made dinner, and Carol was upset, so I told her to make dessert. But if I had stayed, I would have made it. I'm just glad she's a better cook than the enslaved people, which I was glad when you let them go."

"You asked me to rid of the enslaved people and the law that if any female were unmated by seventeen, they had to come here,"

"It was the right thing to do. I stand by my choice,"

Xander raised his brow.

"You did it so you could be the one cooking all the time,” He chuckles.

"I love Carol though she's sweet,"

"Then let her do her job and cook.”

"But I love cooking,"

"Then share the kitchen with her and stop running away so she can do something,”

I sighed. He is right; I need to let Carol do the cooking sometimes.

"I'll go over a plan with her. And when I'm cooking, I'll give her another task to do,”

Xander nods.

"That's a good idea,"

"How was Dominic's appointment?”

"Dr. Jacobs says everything has stayed the same.”

"Good,"

I nod my head.

"Have you picked a date yet?"

“No,”

Xander gets up from his desk and walks toward taking me into his arms.

"Don't tell me you've changed your mind?"

"Of course not,"

I wrap my arms around his thick waist and grab his ass in my hands. I stand up on tip-toes and whisper in his ear.

"I have decided something,”

He groans at the contact of my tongue, licking his ear.

"What's that?" He asks.

I rub myself against his bulge.

"That I want you,"

Xander growls, lifting me and carrying me to his desk.

"Bend over,” He says, smirking

I do what I'm told and bend over his desk. The coldness from the wood makes my nipples hard. Xander smacks my ass.

"Repeat it," He says.

"Repeat what?"

SMACK.

I clench my thighs together. It still amazes me how he can cause a whirlpool between my legs with just a smack to my ass.

"That you want me,"

“l want you,"

SMACK.

"You're mine," He says, raising my dress and pulling my panties down. He runs a finger through my slick folds and groans.

"SO, fucking wet for me already,”

He places his cock at my entrance and rams into my core.

"Fuck," He mutters.

Xander rolls his hips, pulling his dick almost out before plunging it back.

A moan slips past my lips.

"Say you're mine," He says, thrusting his cock in and out, rough and rugged just like him.

“I'm yours,"

"You've outdone yourself with dinner tonight, Carol,” Kyle says, rubbing his belly.

Carol arches her brow.

"That's because I didn't make it; Luna Brinley did. So I should just quit,” She says and mumbles something in Spanish.

"Absolutely not," Xander tells her.

"You're a fantastic cook. I've talked to Brinley, and you two will be getting together to form up days one can cook, and the other can cook,"

Carol huffs, placing a hand on her hip.

"If it were up to her, she'd be cooking all the time," Carol says, walking back into the kitchen. "Dinner was delicious, Brin,” Kyle says.

"Thank you,"

"Brinley, do you have the dress for the gala tomorrow?" Katie asks.

Shit, I forgot all about the gala.

"No," I shook my head.

"I forgot," I admitted.

"Annabella has been wild, and I hadn't had time to go shopping. So we could make tomorrow a girl's day and go shopping?"

I nod.

"Perfect,"

"Xander, will you mind after Dominic?"

"Of course,"

"Thanks,"

Xander nods.

"It's a black-in-while gala. You can't possibly wear red,” Katie tells me.

Kelsy and Katie decided on white dresses, whereas Amanda went with black along with Delores and Julia.

I decided I was going to stand out. I wouldn't say I like black in white dresses when. This full-length red dress hugged my curses and split up the side to my hip, exposing some of my flesh. The V-neck line showed the perfect amount of cleavage, which I hardly have, and this dress still made them pop.

"I'm getting it,"

"I think it's a good idea, and she needs to stand out. She's the future queen," Julia tells Katie. Kelsy and Delores agreed with Julia.

Amanda just says that Xander will rip it off me before the gala starts because I look so hot into it. "That will be eight hundred and fifty-two dollars and sixty-eight cents,"

I hand the cashier my card.

My dress was cheaper than the others. They all spent over a thousand dollars, and mine was glittered bright red dress compared to their plain ones.

"Let's get food. I'm starving,” Amanda says.

The car stops in front of an Italian restaurant called.

BIANCHI'S

"This place has the best food," Katie says, turning off the engine as we pile out and walk into the restaurant.

"What can I get you all to drink?" the waiter says, holding a pen.

"I'll have a sweet tea,” Amanda says.

"Oh, that sounds good. Make that two," Katie says.

"Make that three,” Kelsy says, looking threw the menu.

"I'll have lemonade,” Delores tells him.

"So, Brinley, have you picked a date yet?" Katie asks.

Oh boy, and this lunch isn't close to over, and here they are bugging me with questions I don't know the answer to.

"I'll have a vodka on the rocks, please,” I tell him.

"Make that two," Julia says.

At least I'm not the only one-day drinking.

"I haven't set a date yet,"

"But why not?"

I shrug my shoulders.

"I haven't had the time. Dominic demands my attention all the time,"

"You can't let that stop you. Do you need help?" Kelsy offers.

I shake my head.

"I'm fine."

The waiter comes back and hands everyone their drinks. I down mine in one go.

"I'll have another," I tell him.

"Take it easy there, Brinley; you haven't eaten yet," Delores says with a raised brow.

"Oh, and I'll have the cook's best dish,” I smile up at the waiter. He nods and writes down the other's orders, and leaves.

"Brinley, you know Xander's office isn't soundproof, right? I heard you and Xander yesterday," Katie says, faking a disgusted shiver.

Where the fuck is the waiter with my drink?

I sigh. Today is going to be a long fucking day.
