The Alpha King's Series

Chapter CHAPTER 15

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

BRINLEY.

I cut all the sandwiches into bite sizes. I woke early to get all the preparation done for Katie's party. I baked pies and made a cake. Her cake is red velvet (Katies Favorite). I covered it with butter creme icing and decorated it with red roses.

I made a chicken salad sandwich, Egg salad sandwich, and tuna salad sandwich. I also made some hot wings, veggies, and ranch dip.

I wanted to make Katie's party memorable because this was important to her, and I wanted to help make that perfect. She deserves to make these memories something that will last a lifetime.

"I'm going to start placing the food and drinks. Do you need any help?" Julia asks. I shake my head. "I'm almost done. I'll help set the food up in just a minute," Julia nods, grabbing the tray of hot wings and walking out of the door. As I placed the last sandwich on the tray, I smiled with satisfaction at how great everything was

"Thanks, Brinley. Everything looks perfect,” Katie says, wrapping her arms around me.

"Hi sweetheart, It's good to see you again,” Katie's dad Russel says. I nod, "It's good to see you too. I hope you and Betty are well?" He nods, "We're both fine. Do you like living in the palace?” He says, trying to make conversation. I didn't want to be rude and tell him I wasn't supposed to interact with anyone only to do my job. "I do." I nod, "It's a beautiful place,” I tell him. He nodded. "That it is," He pursed his lips, “I'm not sure I should even tell you this. As you know, I am the Shadow Packs Dr," I nod, "Yes, sir."

"Well, sweetheart. Your father came in for a routine check-up. But unfortunately, his results weren't good." The smile that was on my face fell, and my brows furrowed.

My father hates me. I'm not sure why Russel is even bringing it up. I'd be the last person my father would want to know anything about his health. In his eyes, being a half-breed never measured up to Kelsy.

"Russel, My father hates me. Why are you telling me this?"

Pity flashed in his eyes which he masked quickly. "He's dying, sweetheart. And I thought you should know," He says, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. I nod, fighting back the tears.

Even though I knew my father's feelings towards me didn't mean I didn't care about him because he's my dad. And I love him, and deep down, all I've ever wanted was his love in return.

"Thanks for telling me. But I need to get back now,"

"Of course, I am truly sorry," I purse my lips, “I know, and thank you." I smiled at Russel and walked back towards the kitchen.

"Ugh, my feet are swollen,” Julia whines as she sits down on the chair in the kitchen. I laughed slightly at her rolling my eyes. "I'll take the last few trays of food. Then, I'll come back for the cake. Rest your feet a while,” I tell her, and she gives me an appreciating smile.

I grabbed two trays and headed to the sunroom where Katie's party was hosted. I sat the two trays down and was about to head back for the cake when I heard a voice that made me stop in my tracks.

"Hello, Brinley,"

I turned around quickly.

"Delores? You came to Katie's party?” She nodded. I smiled and was about to hug her when I noticed she was holding a five or six-month baby.

"Her name is Rose. Kelsy and Ryder's daughter.” I smiled, "She's beautiful. Is Kelsy here too?" Delores nods, "She is in the powder room. I thought you might like to meet your niece,” I narrow my eyes, "Kelsy wouldn't want me to meet her," Delores waves it off.

"Brinley, I know Kelsy listened to father more than I did. But sooner or later, she will acknowledge how wrong she's been, and you are her sister.”

I shake my head but say nothing. Delores took steps closer to me and embraced me. "I miss you so much, Brinley,"

"I miss you too,"

Delores and I broke apart, and she placed baby Rose in my arms. Her chubby cheeks were chubby like the rest of her was. Her smile was beautiful, even with only two teeth. Her bright blue eyes wrinkled as she laughed. Her hands covered my face as she cooed.

"Peek- A- Boo," I tell her, and her laugh fills the room. I noticed that Katie was smiling as I played with my niece from the corner of my eye. I ignored her and tried to enjoy what little time I had to play with her. I never mentioned what Russell told me about my dad. If Delores wanted me to know, she would say to me.

"How are things back home?" Delores sighs, "Good. I miss my coffee drinking partner, though,” She smiled. I chuckled. "I miss us drinking coffee together. But here I get Starbucks,” I shrugged. Delores gaped. "Iced white Chocolate mocha?" I nodded.

"I have it almost all the time," I tell her.

"It's my favorite,” I purse my lips, "I know."

Delores was filling me in on what she was doing with the house and how Ryder and Kelsy moved next door to them, and It was nice to hear how happy they all were.

"What the hell are you doing holding my baby?" Kelsy shouts and rips baby Rose from my arms. Baby Rose started crying, reaching for me, I tried to hold her again, but Kelsy swatted my hands away from her.

"Kelsy, she's your sister. She has every right to hold her niece,” Delores tells her. Kelsy shakes her head. "That half- breed omega is not my sister,” She spats.

"How can you say that?" Delores asks, shaking her head, "You are truly your father's child,” Delores adds.

"Oh yeah? Wait till dad finds out you're talking to the half-breed." Delores's eyes go wide, and she bows her head.

My dad used to beat Delores up for being good to me. When I was younger, I finally had to tell her to stop. She didn't like treating me like the others, but what choice did she have? I couldn't let my dad hit her as he had done me.

"Kelsy, it's not her fault,” I sighed. " I forced her to talk to me and to let me hold baby Rose,” I say, pursing my lips, "Don't tell dad she didn’t want to,"

"Mom, is that true?" Kelsy asked. Delores eyed me, and I pleaded with her through my eyes to follow along with my plan. Delores sighs, "Yes. It's true,"

Kelsy hands baby Rose to Delores and walks toward me.

"You had no right talking to my mother. And you damn sure had no rights to touch my baby," She yells and slaps my cheek hard, so hard that my head moves with it. I instantly grabbed my cheek and glared at her. She had a smirk on her face that I'd like to slap right off, but I couldn't; I had to protect Delores.

"What in hell is going on here?" A deep voice growled, and everyone went silent.

"Not now, Thomas. This has nothing to do with you,” I said. Everyone gasped, and I furrowed my brows and looked around, and everyone was bowing their heads to him.

"508, You're supposed to bow to the Alpha King," Kyle's voice whispered. My eyes widened as I stared at Thomas, shaking my head.
