Chapter 20
Chapter 20
Upon recalling the mysterious phone call, Howard’s only unease was regarding the person who had provided the lavish dress for Zoey.
“I wonder who has taken such an interest in Zoey to make such a grand gesture.”
Displaying a degree of insight, Mabel analyzed, “It must be someone of tremendous influence. Is it necessary to be so mysterious? They could simply eliminate that useless Cyrus and take Zoey themselves. We wouldn’t have much to fear if it were an ordinary wealthy person.”
“Could it be the Lynch family?”
“Do you think the Lynch family is blind? Zoey isn’t even that pure anymore.”
Howard found his sister’s analysis reasonable and suggested. “During the gift presentation later, let’s embarrass them in front of everyone.”
“Cyrus can go up, but with Zoey in that dress, it might overshadow Phoebe,” Mabel expressed concern
“Sean just informed me that he’ll be greeting Cyrus and his family himself. Now, let’s dampen that useless guy’s spirits. Do you really think they can afford that evening gown?” Howard grinned cunningly.
Mabel’s face lit up with excitement. “That’s about right. Let’s see how miserable they’ll look later.
As was widely known, in the past, Cyrus was nothing more than an eager yesman in front of Sean and his father.
During their conversation, Rachel, holding a brimming glass of red wine, walked alluringly with Sean and loudly commented, “Well, you’re dressed in such expensive clothes, yet still looking like a beggar.”
She was afraid the nearby guests might not hear what she said.
Sensing they had bad intentions, Zoey quickly tightened her grip on the evening gown, feeling quite afraid.
If this pure white gown got stained, it wouldn’t be a matter of a simple wash.
It was worth over 30 million dollars, and their current income would take them a lifetime to repay.
Cyrus put down his cutleries, coldly staring at the two.
Even Mira sensed their ill intentions and stood up, saying, “Are you trying to soll my mom’s clothes? You’ll have to pay for it.”
“Brat, you’re ignorant and arrogant. Even your useless dad doesn’t dare talk to me like that,” Sean cursed. “My dad is not useless.”
Mira, unafraid and standing in front of Zoey, opened her arms like a little adult, keeping the two at a distance.
For the past three years, every time Sean harassed Zoey, brave Mira had dragged her frail body and stood in front of her mom, protecting her from harm.
Sean wished he could just kick her to death.
“Get lost, or I’ll slap you to death,” Sean angrily threatened.
“You can slap me to death, but don’t think about bullying my mom.”
Cyrus stood up, walked to Mira, held her tiny hand, stared at Sean, and coldly said, “You may try.”
“So what if I do? How dare you challenge me, you bastard.”
As Sean’s hand moved to slap Mira’s little face, she quivered in her dad’s arms, but his palm remained suspended in the air.
Cyrus’s two fingers, like iron clamps, held Sean’s wrist, rendering him motionless.
Terrified, Sean shouted, “You damn bastard, let go of me! Kneel and apologize to me right now.”
A sharp glint flashed in Cyrus’s eyes.
He asked, “Three months ago, did you use this hand to slap my daughter?”
“So what if I did? Let go. I’ll count from three, if you don’t, you’ll be sorry. Three… Two…”
Cyrus didn’t say anything more.
He gently shook his fingers, and the sound cracking joints echoed in the hall, sending shivers down
everyone’s spine.
Just a moment later, the arrogant Sean was kneeling before Cyrus, clutching his right hand, howling like a
slaughtered pig.
Rachel, standing nearby, couldn’t even catch how Cyrus had made his move.
She hastily put down her wine glass and checked on Sean’s injuries.
Upon closer inspection….
She involuntarily gasped sharply..
Just in that brief moment, Sean’s right hand, shoulder joint, elbow joint, wrist joint, and all five fingers–17 joints in total–were unexpectedly dislocated.
Once strong and muscular, his arm now resembled a giant caterpillar as it lay limp on the ground, horrifyingly contorted.
