That Forever: A Small Town, Friends-to-Lovers Romance (That Boy® (Chase & Devaney) Book 3)

That Forever: Chapter 19

We’ve been back from break for a few days, and Chase said he had a great time. Said he and Damon hung out with the dads and spent a couple of days on a private boat, cruising the harbor. And apparently, it only takes, like, a couple of hours to go down to the Bahamas from Miami, and I guess they did that, too. On some sort of yacht thing. When we got back, Chase was super excited and happy to see me. We basically spent the weekend in bed, but he’s been acting a little weird.

He says he’s just stressed over starting spring practice again. Afraid he didn’t get in enough workouts, afraid he had one too many beers when he should have been loading up on water. And that all makes sense.

Or maybe it’s the fact that he’s been—how do I put this?—acting sort of sneaky. Like he’ll be texting, see me, then suddenly act like he’s not.

I know I should just come out and ask him who he is texting, but there’s a part of me that is afraid to know.

Could he have met someone on break? Could they be texting?

My head tells me that I’m being silly. Chase was with my brother and my father. I highly doubt he’d pick up women in front of them. But considering his stupid obsession with his phone, my heart and my intuition tell me that I should be worried.
