TEMPTED SOUL

Chapter 3

As I stood on the roadside looking at the guy who was coming towards me, fear flooded inside my heart like a thousand demons. Hence, the rain kept dripping on my body. I was shivering immediately after he approached me. He was wearing a black jacket, the one meant for cold weather. However, he was about to walk past me when he stopped a half foot and turned to look at my face.

I was sure he wasn’t here for me. He was probably heading somewhere. “Hey, beautiful angel, why are you standing in the rain? Are you not feeling the cold?” He cooed. From the way he spoke, he seemed to be a nice guy and not the bad guy I thought he was. Though he didn’t notice I was the one standing there.

So I purposely ignored his question and looked away, holding my bag tight to my chest, and he walked close to me and looked at my face.

“Oh! You again?” he sniggered.

“Yes, it’s me again. What did I do to you? Why are you just following me around like a devil? Why can’t you just let me be?” I implored. Then, he started smiling and leaned close to me, placing his right arm on my shoulder.

“Please, don’t say that. You were the one that made me look like a devil. I am a nice dude. I can’t hurt you. Trust me. he said. I looked at his face and waved his arm off of my shoulder.

“I don’t trust you. Please leave me alone and let me be. I don’t want trouble.” I fired, yet he kept smiling. Seeing him smile made my anger grow more ferocious, and I felt like slapping him. Because I didn’t know why he was smiling, I noticed the dimples on his cheeks and thought he looked very handsome with his gap teeth.

“I’m sure you’re feeling cold inside,” he said as he gently removed his jacket and stretched it toward my face. “Please, use this to cover up your body in order to prevent the cold from affecting your health. Your health is important to me,” he said.

In fact, at this moment I feel loved. I feel so special because the guy seemed to be nicer and fun to be with. But, I didn’t know the reason why he would be nice and kind to me just like that.

“I did not complain to you that I was feeling cold. I don’t need your jacket either. I am okay!” I muttered and walked away from the spot while he followed me like a puppy dog.

“Please, don’t walk away from me. This is not who you think I am. I am a very different guy. Okay, I know I offended you earlier in the day. Forgive me, I am begging.” I was surprised when he went on his knees begging for forgiveness.

One thing about me is that I don’t like seeing people kneeling or bowing down for me. I am not that hard of a person. I forgive easily, so seeing him on his knees pissed me off. It pulled off my legs and weakened my bones.

“Please, stand up. I’ve forgiven you, and promise me that you’ve also forgiven me,” I said, while I helped him to stand on his feet. “Of course, I’ve forgiven you too. Thank you for finding a place in your heart to forgive me. I am now a happy person,” he whispered.

“My name is Alfonso,” he said in an attempt to start a conversation. “It means noble and ready. What’s yours?

“Nkem,” I replied, a faint smile etched on my lips. “It means my own.”

“That’s a lovely name, Nkem. I trust you’re now my own from today henceforth.” Alfonso grinned, trying to make a joke. I chuckled.

“That’s not funny. Why would I become yours?” I asked.

“No, no, I’m not. You’re my own. You belong to me and I like you already.” A broad smile spread on his lips as he said that, making me blush. Then, he handed me the jacket. I took it and wore it on top of my red polo. I was feeling the cold deep inside of me. The roadside was empty; only a few people were walking on the road. There was no sign of a motorcycle.

Then, Alfonso took me to his one-bedroom apartment. It was a nice room, painted in a nice colour. Inside the room, there was a blue carpet spread on the tiled floor, but no chair to sit on. Only the bed was inside the room and other house properties, though the room was lit and scented nicely as I sat on the bed.

Since the rain had stopped and begun again, this time around it was very serious and I doubt I wouldn’t see any vehicle on the road. Even when I tried to reach out to my elder brother, I was unable to because the network seemed too poor. “Do you mind if I do anything, like can I get a drink for you or prepare a supper for you?” Alfonso inquired while I nodded my head and indicated no.

Then, he came and sat close to me, holding me tight to himself. I was wondering how I’ve literally given myself to him. In fact, it looks as if the both of us have known each other for ages. I was okay being with him, and I felt safe in his arm when he wrapped me into his large chest.

“Are you feeling cold?” he asked, and I told him yes. I wasn’t thinking anything negative. I don’t know if he has something else ticking inside his mind. Alfonso held me very softly. I could feel his warm hand messaging and romanced my shoulder and neck roughly. I was feeling the sensation down my spine. He was about to move his hand gently to my orange breast.
