I tried to sit up, but the pressure on my head was too much. What the hell is happening? Am I being kidnapped?

"Drive faster!" I heard a man order.

My blood ran cold, and I started to struggle more.

"Stop moving around, will ya?" He said to me.

"Th-then let me go." I stuttered.

"Nope. You belong with me." He said.

The man gripped the back of my hair, and pulled me to sit up. I looked out the window to see that we were heading out of town already. My supposed sister is in the front seat driving.

I looked at the man. He has black hair and deep blue eyes. He looks just like the girl who said she was my sister, only much older. I knew exactly who he was the moment our eyes connected.

"I don't belong with you," I stated angrily.

"Of course you do!" He replied cheerfully. "A girl needs her father after all. Isn't that right Darby?" He asked.

"Yes Daddy." Darby replied from the front seat.

I looked up and caught her eyes in the rearview mirror. Darby looked away immediately. It's almost like she feels guilty.

"Give me your hands." My 'father' ordered.

I moved my hands away from him. He gave me a death glare. Then, without warning, he slapped me across the face. Hard.

Then he took my hands, and wrapped something around them. I didn't even fight this time. That slap hurt really badly. I can still hear the ringing in my ears.

He duct taped my wrists together, and then moved to tape my ankles together too.

"W-what are you doing?" I asked.

"Making sure you don't get any ideas." He replied casually.

After he was done tying me up, he leaned back against the seat and blew out a breath.

"Do you even know how hard it was to get you alone?" He asked me. "We've been watching you for weeks. That boy never lets you go anywhere alone." He complained. "He your boyfriend or something?" The man stared at me. Does he really want an answer?

"It's sad that he won't see you ever again." He stated when I didn't answer.

Tears welled up in my eyes.

"W-what are you going to d-do with me?" I asked.

"You're my daughter. We've missed so much time together. We're going to make up for all of that lost time." He told me.

All of it?

"W-where are we going?" I asked.

"Somewhere far, far away," he replied. "So get comfortable sweetheart."

*******

We drove for several hours before Darby finally pulled into the parking lot of a motel. I made sure to stay awake the entire time and alert. We drove north, and passed through seven towns before we finally stopped. "We'll rest here tonight, and get going early in the morning," the man said.

"W-what am I supposed to call you?" I asked, trying to stall for time.

"What the hell do you mean?" He asked.

"Y-your name?" I asked.

"No. You're my daughter. That means you call me Daddy." He stated.

Fact fu.cking chance of that happening. No way in hell am I calling this man daddy. He's lost his mind. Still, I need to play my cards right.

"A-are we still going north?" I asked.

The man opened his door, but paused to look at me.

"W-what? I-it's not like I-I can tell anybody," I said.

The man smirked.

"That's right. You can't." He agreed. "Yes, we are going to keep going north."

He must be trying to get us to Canada then. When we get to the border, I can ask for help. He won't be able to take me over the-

"We're going to Canada. Someone will meet us near the border with new IDs and passports." He told me.

"W-what..?" I asked.

How was he even able to do that?

"That's right. I got help this time. That stupid old man thinks that he's doing what's best for his son and grandson. Ha!" He laughed.

What is he talking about?

Wait.. his son and grandson? Is.. that who Maverick has been hiding from me? His grandfather is behind this? Why though? Why would he have been keeping us apart before?

Does that mean... that Maverick's grandfather is behind all of this too, then?

The man had Darby go get us a room. When she came out, he looked around to make sure no one could see us. Then he cut off the tape around my ankles, and forced me into the room. He locked the door behind him, and looked out the window. "W-what's going to happen when we get to Canada?" I asked.

I'm desperately trying to play it cool.

"We're going to do what I always did. What I've been doing since I've been out." He replied.

"Which is?" I asked.

I noticed out of the corner of my eye that Darby flinched.

The man turned to me. A creepy smile spread across his face. A knot formed in my stomach.

"You and your sister here, are going to help me kidnap women," he stated.

My eyes widened in horror.

"Don't worry, it's not too difficult. Right Darby?" He asked.

"Yes Daddy." Darby replied meekly.

"And if I refuse?" I asked.

The man chuckled.

"If you refuse.. Well, I know how to break women like you dear. Go ahead and try to defy me." He said.

Then he walked passed Darby to the bathroom.

"Just ask your big sis," he said with a laugh.

The man went into the bathroom, and closed the door. I stood up, but before I could even take a step, Darby stopped me.

"Don't. He'll just run after you. Trust me, he'll get you before you find help. Then things will get worse." She told me. "Worse?" I asked. "How can things get worse?"

Darby averted her eyes.

"Our.. father.. He doesn't care who he rapes Kapri. Keep that in mind before you do something stupid." She told me.

I stared at her as tears filled my eyes. He.. raped her? His own daughter? Just to keep her in line?

My fear suddenly grew. I sat back down on the bed as the gravity of my situation sank in. I'm fu.cked.

If I don't do something.. This will be my life. Not only my life.. My baby's too.

I can't let that happen.

************

We've been at the motel for a couple of hours. It's now dark outside. The man had been watching TV and drinking beer. He brought a three-foot long chain from the car, and attached it to my ankle. It's been.. scary.

I've been trying to think of ways to get away long enough to call for help. I doubt the person running this place gives a sh,it what goes on here. That means I'll have to wait until we're somewhere more public.

I won't be able to get away from either of them in this state though. I need to convince them that they scared me into joining their side. I just.. have no idea how to do that.

From what I've gathered so far, the man has totally lost his mind. The longer I watch him, the more clear it becomes. He's scared. I'm not sure if it's because of Maverick's grandfather, or the fact that he's technically on the run. Whatever it is, he's scared, and when people are scared, they make mistakes.

Not to mention that he's wasted. Now that I think about it, I can smell the alcohol on him when they first kidnapped me. Maybe if I could convince Darby to go to the store, we could spike his beer, and escape together.

"Ah sh.it!" The man grumbled as he tossed his beer can at the TV.

Darby stiffened, and I jumped. The man walked to the door. He opened it, and turned to us.

"Leave this fu.cking room.. And I'll do more than just show you a good time, my precious daughters." He warned us.

Then he was gone.

Darby physically relaxed. She's sitting on the floor with her back against the wall. She leaned her head back, and closed her eyes.

"Why don't you run?" I asked her.

"You heard what he said." She replied without opening her eyes.

"But.. you're not tied up," I said.

Darby opened her eyes, and looked at me.

"What am I supposed to do? Where do I go? I have no one out there looking for me. No one cares about me." She told me.

I held her gaze.

"I do." I said softly.

Darby scoffed.

"I helped kidnap you. I'm the whole reason you're here." She said.

I shook my head.

"You were forced to do that. Clearly, you're terrified of him. But if you run now-"

"I-I can't. He'd find me." She interrupted me.

I guess begging her won't work either.

"How did he find you to begin with?" I asked.

"What?" Darby asked me.

"He's been in prison for the last, how many ever years. How did he find you?" I asked.

Darby stood up, and walked to the window. She peered out of it. For a moment, I didn't think she was going to answer me.

"He had me in his care when he was arrested. The woman that was my mother.. he had kidnapped her. He was going to get rid of her, but he couldn't because she was pregnant with me. That was why he was going out and raping random women. That wasn't how he usually did things." She told me.

Oh my god.. He's a serial killer and rapist.

"I was eight when he was arrested. They kept me out of the media's eye, so no one knew about me. He had killed my mother when I was only four. Then he used me to trap women when he felt like it. He would hit me, use me, do whatever he wanted." She continued. "I was so happy when he was arrested. It was like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. I was pushed into foster care, and the rest..." She trailed off.

He had Darby for her entire life..

"He found me easily when he got out. He was a much worse man. I tried to run away, thinking that I was all grown up now." She said as tears filled her eyes. "He said 'you look all grown up now. Not half bad at all." She said with a scoff. "I thought I was finally free." "You're never going to be free if you keep living in fear," I said.

"I already told you-"

"I'm not asking you to run anymore. I understand why you're afraid." I said, interrupting her. "I'm asking you to help me save us both."
