Chapter 97
Chapter 97
Figin squinted his eyes and stopped the butler.
“Mr. Ramirez, the butler arrived in a hot mess, panting heavily, “It’s bad, Mrs. Ramirez is bleeding heavily, her condition is critical, she’s just been rushed to emergency!”
She’s bleeding out too?”
“Yeah, Mrs. Ramirez was still conscious in the ambulance, but passed out the moment we got to the hospital. She kept mumbling about the child….”
The butler sighed heavily, shaking his head repeatedly.
Mark was shocked at first, then joy crept in.
Shela was quite the trickster, smart as a whip. Not only did she manage to miscarry on her own, but she also dragged Letitia’s kid down with her! How awesome was that!
But on the outside, he didn’t show it.
He said furiously, “She had it coming! Instant karma, that’s what it is came back to bite her fast. She wanted to kill Shela’s baby, and look, she ended up screwing herself over!
The butler quickly tried to defend, “Sir, what exactly happened here is still unclear, it’s not right for you to say such things.”
“What’s right or wrong? Mr. Ramirez himself said it, it was Letitia who made Shela lose the baby!”
“Mr. Ramirez
Elgin had already started striding away, moving like the wind towards the neighboring operating room.
He was going to see Letitia. This time, she’s made her own bed, and he sure as hell wasn’t going to lie in it!
She had thrown herself into the lake before, and he’d been soft once, but there wouldn’t be a second time!
“Mr. Ramirez, Mr. Ramirez, you can’t just barge into the operating room-Mr. Ramirez…”
The nurses couldn’t stop Elgin, he just waved his hand to part the crowd and walked into the operating room.
The doctor was prepping for surgery
Letitia lay on the operating table, surrounded by a cacophony of noises, so loud.
With the last bit of strength she had, she opened her eyes. And there was Elgin.
Is this reality, or just a dream? Letitia couldn’t tell.
E… Elgin…
“It’s me,” he stood beside the operating table, “Letitia, are you lucid? Do you know what just happened?”
“The baby.” she answered weakly, “Save my baby…
Letitia tried to tug at his sleeve, to plead with him, but she had no strength.
She couldn’t even lift her hand.
“I saved him once, I won’t do it again Elgin’s gaze was cold and merciless, “Letitia, this time you’ve dug your own grave! You killed your
own child!”
She shook her head in denial, “No, that’s not it…”
“Right now, I don’t have to lift a finger, saves me a world of trouble.” He snorted, “Don’t you go fantasizing about miracles happening!”
Letitia’s eyes widened in horror, “Elgin, what… what are you going to do…
He leaned in, his lips almost touching hers as he spoke, “I’m not going to save this child, and I won’t let you have the surgery.”
Her pupils shrunk, her face a picture of pure despair!
Her bleeding wasn’t as severe as Shela’s. In the ambulance, she had asked the doctor, who didn’t promise anything but said it wasn’t too bad, there was still a glimmer of hope.
That tiny glimmer had given Letitia something to cling to, a reason to hope.
But now. Elgin was about to snuff out that last bit of hope himself!
“Eigin you can’t do this,” Letitia said. “The child is innocent. Our feud shouldn’t involve the baby!”
You know your child is innocent, but what about Shela’s baby, huh?”
Chapter
Elgm’s eyes cut like knives, as he lifted her chin slightly, “Shela’s baby is gone, the doctor said it himself. So, Letitia, why should your child get to live, safe and sound?”
His fingertips were colder than the operating table, sending a chill down Letitia’s spine.
“Her baby’s gone, but that’s got nothing to do with me…” Letitia’s eyes were brimming with tears. “I never intended to harm her, I did nothing, it was her… she did it to herself…
“You’re trying to say she killed her own kid. Huh?”
Letitia’s mind went blank. She didn’t know what Shela was up to… the baby was a bargaining chip, something Shela should have been protecting. But in the moment of the fall, Shela could have just stood by, kept her distance, not touch her, yet Shela chose to reach out to her
Was Shela that kind-hearted? Impossible!
The clues were too many and too tangled, a mess in her mind that she couldn’t clear.
“I didn’t mean that. I don’t know what she wanted, but,” Letitia said, “I never thought of killing her child, never.”
“But her child is gone, and it’s because of you!”
“I fell too, Elgin, would I would I really risk such danger, disregard my own child’s safety, just to harm Shela?”
Elgin scoffed repeatedly
The kid you were carrying was a bastard, not worth a dime. Trading your mongrel’s life for my child, sounds like a fair deal to you! You could totally do that!
Letitia kept shaking her head, “You’ve got me all wrong, that’s not it, I’ve never been that cruel…”
Elgin straightened up.
He loomed over Letitia lying on the operating table, a bloodthirsty smile on his lips.
“Too late, there’s no use talking anymore.” He said, “Letitia, we’ll settle our scores slowly. For now, this moment, don’t you even think about saving your child!”
Before Letitia could say anything, he turned to the doctor, “Get out! There won’t be any surgery!”
Everyone in the operating room froze.
It took the lead surgeon a moment to come to his senses, and he said, “Mr. Ramirez, from my experience, the chances of saving the child are still quite high! If we don’t operate, the child will 100%…”
“Save the child?” Elgin’s lips curled, “What if I ask you to turn this operation into an abortion, would you do it?”
The lead surgeon was utterly dumbfounded.
Letitia bit her lip hard, breaking skin and bleeding. Only this pain kept her barely conscious.
Every word from Elgin was a knife, stabbing her already battered heart.
“You’re cruel, you’re ruthless, she croaked, her voice rough and dry, “Elgin, you actually want to kill my baby…”
“That’s right, just lay here, take your sweet time feeling the baby slip away. It’s a much more torturous ride than just getting the procedure done.”
Man, Elgin is brutal. His methods of torment, each more deadly than the last!
“Enjoy. Elgin said with a sinister sneer as he lightly touched her lower belly before leaving. “You’ve got all the time in the world to say your goodbyes.”
Letitia closed her eyes, tears slowly trailing down from the corners of her eyes.
What should she do now..
