At the hospital....!

I sat on a chair in the waiting area and Andre sat next to me... Right now, Olivia is in the ICU.

Nurses running in and out which makes me panic more.

So, this is Olivia's dad.. my mother's husband. I guess this elderly woman must be Olivia's grandma then.

Mr Knight nudge her. "This is not the right time to talk about that"

"I don't care, all I care about is Debby" she retort and turns to me. "Dear, are you alright?"

Olivia's grandma clears her throat.

"You are fine but what about my granddaughter?!"

"Grandma, we are waiting for the doctor's report!" Andre replies her.

She glares pointedly at me.

"How come she had an accident? My granddaughter has always been careful, she wouldn't get in an accident so easily... who was driving?!" There's silence.

"I said who was driving?!"

I clear my throat... I caused this, I should be responsible.

"I.. I.. d-did" I stutter out.

"You did?" Just then I see her hand raised preparing to land on my face.

I wanted to dodge it but Andre pulls me out of the way and hide me behind him.

Mrs Knight catches her hand.

"Mrs Chesterfield.. my daughter in-law is also a victim like your granddaughter!"

Oh? She's already calling me her daughter-in-law?

"A victim? But she's standing here alright!"

Andre's grandmother steps forward and removes Mrs Chesterfield hand from Mrs Knight's grip.

I can't let him take responsibility for my actions, I tugged his shirt but he doesn't listen to me.

45 minutes later.....!

The doctor finally comes out and we all rushed towards him.

"Doctor! Doctor! How is my daughter?" Mr Thompson asked anxiously.

We are all anxious.

"The patient was badly wounded but thankfully she was brought here in time.. we've managed to stabilize her!"

I hear series of sigh.

"But due to the impact on her legs, she won't be able to walk for a very long time!"

Everyone tensed...

"She won't be able to use her legs?!" Mrs Chesterfield asks slowly.

"I'm afraid that's the case for now.. but she can recover quickly with lots of care and attention from you. We did a scan, the results will be out tomorrow!" "Thank you doctor!" Mr Thompson said.

Mrs chesterfield rushes forward and ask the doctor.

"Can we see her?"

"Yes, but after she's transferred to a ward!" The doctor replies.

Just then, some nurses push Olivia out in a stretcher... Mrs Chesterfield said Andre's grandmother rushes after them.

"Mr Thompson, please come by my office later to sign some papers!"

"Ok, doc!" They shook hands and the doctor excused himself.

Mr Thompson turns to us.

"I should go check on my daughter!"

"We'll come with you!" Mr Knight said.

Andre nods in agreement. He snakes his arm around my waist and leads me along with them.

After walking past different wards, we arrived at Olivia's ward. Mrs Chesterfield leans on her bed crying and muttering coherently to herself.

"Grandma.. I'm fine" I hear Olivia say very weakly.

"No, you're not fine and it's all because of that Debby!"

Olivia released a weak gasp.

"Grandma, Debby.. somebody should.. save.. her!" She panic.

"Stop worrying about her and worry about yourself... My good granddaughter!"

Mr Thompson pulls Mrs Chesterfield away gently and squats next to Olivia.

"Don't worry, honey. Debby is fine, she's here with Andre!"

Olivia look towards us and smiles. She signals me with her eyes to come over and I did... She stretches her hands but winces and quickly drops her right hand. She pulls me in for a hug with her left hand... Mr Thompson got up and give way for me.

"I'm sorry, Olivia... I didn't know something like this would happen" I apologise.

She shakes her head.

"It's fine... you're not to be blamed!"

"I'm really, really sorry..."

I wish I'm the one laying on this bed instead of her... Now her daughter will just be waiting for her.

"Debby, I want to ask you a favor!" She whispers in my ear... very soft that only me would hear her.

"What? Ask anything!" I whisper back.

"Don't tell Andre about our daughter... I want to tell him myself!"

"Ok!" I whisper.

"Thank you and this is not your fault!"

I nod. I pull away from the hug and Andre pulls me close.

"When did you two became friends?" He asked in a whisper.

I didn't reply.. I mean, I have promised Olivia I won't tell him about their daughter.

Mrs Knight claps her hands and gets everyone's attention.. but Andre's eyes lingers on me, as if he's waiting for my explanation.

"Well, now that Olivia is alright, can we go home?" She asked.

"Right, you can go.. I'll stay here with her" Mr Thompson said.

Olivia look at Mr Thompson as if she wants to reject his offer... well, it's not right for him to watch her.. like he can't attend to her properly.

I should stay with her since I caused this. But before I could open my mouth, Olivia speak.

"I want Andre to stay with me!"

Everyone looked at her with eyes wide open. She turns her gaze at me and look me directly in the eye... a weak smile playing on her lips.

"I hope you wouldn't mind, Debby?"

Leave Andre with her?

Though it's fine by me, but what if she wanna use the toilet? He can't help her.

"No! I'm going home with Debby!" Andre states.

Mr Thompson steps forward and squats in front of her.

"Honey.. I can stay with you, let Andre...."

"No, dad.. I want Andre to stay with me!" She said adamantly.

"Olivia, Andre and Debby just got engaged... Let them enjoy themselves, it's not their fault this accident happened"

"You said you're gonna take responsibility for whatever happens.... just do this for me, take it as you're taking responsibility for my actions" "But...."

He clenched his jaw and balled his fist beside him.

"Fine!" He turns away from me. "I'll stay!" He grits out.

I take a glance at Olivia, she's smiling, she mouths a thank you to me. Mrs Knight comes to my side.

"What's wrong with you, Debby? Why did you tell Andre to stay?" She asked.

Mrs Chesterfield claps her hands and made me swallow my words.

"It's settled, Andre will stay and the rest of us should leave!"

"I'll drop you off at the mansion"

I shake my head. "I'll board a cab"

"A cab?" He frowns. "No! I must drop you off!"

"I'll be fine on my own!"

He closes his eyes and sighed.

"Ok, let mom and dad give you a ride.. then I'll be rest assured"

I shake my head in disagreement again.

"Don't worry, I want to be alone"
