The Lycan Princess Chapter 10
Diana looked on in annoyance as Jamie carried the second cot into Aiden’s room.
“This feels a bit over the top…” She said as Jamie grinned up at her.
He scoffed as he saw the confusion in her eyes. “It’s a slumber party for crying out loud! I thought girls like this stuff, you know? A special night of secrets and gossip, where they can talk about boys without consequence. ‘Oh, just look at him. He’s so hot! I wish Jamie would glance my way just once!’” He snickered in an exaggerated falsetto.
Diana shrugged her shoulders with a faint smile and shook her head. “I never did anything like that.”
“It’s okay, Deeders, I never did either.” Kurt walked over towards the bed as something collided into his side.
“Dam.nit Jamie, get off of me.” Kurt growled as Jamie laughed, pinning him on the bed.
“We will have our own version of one…” Jamie grinned, holding Kurt down.
“How is this a girls slumber party?” Kurt snorted.
“You know… the real secret behind a girls’ slumber party.” Jamie cleared his throat as his strong grip tightened around Kurt. “You know what I like? Rough play turned into something much dirtier,” Jamie growled, leaning near Kurt’s ear. “Let me touch them,” Jamie demanded, moving his hand around Kurt’s front. “They’re bigger than mine.” Before Kurt could protest, Jamie’s hands were all over him, groping him inappropriately. “Mmm, you like it don’t you, Tonya? How about when I pinch those pink buds mmm… oooff!” Jamie gasped for air as Kurt forcefully elbowed him in the stomach.
“Dude! You are getting off on your imagination. Quit acting like an animal in front of Dee Dee.” Kurt looked up at Diana embarrassed, shaking his head apologetically.
“Oh, you like to play rough, huh?” Jamie straightened himself up and arched his brow at Kurt.
“You break something in here and Aiden will have your head mounted on the wall.” Kurt warned, as he prepared for the attack.
“Is that really what girl parties are like?” Diana bit her bottom l*p as Kurt turned to look at her.
“Don’t listen to him. He lets his imagination run wild.” A pillow came crashing into the side of his face, sending him stumbling several feet back. Kurt rubbed his cheek and reached out, grabbing another pillow. “Now you are in big trouble.”
“Be gentle with me, daddy.” Jamie batted his eyelashes at him as a smirk rose over his lips. “Or be rough…” he said, arching his butt out towards Kurt.
“Oh, you are going to feel my wrath!” Kurt warned as he launched the pillow towards Jamie. Jamie swung his arm, blocking the pillow, as Kurt pounced on him. The two laughed as Kurt pinned him to the ground.
“Pull my hair!” Jamie yelled, bending his head back.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Kurt laughed as he shoved his head to the floor.
“Tie me up and make a mess of me, Kurty.” Jamie winked at him with a broad grin. “Be my big bad wolf,” he said, puckering his lips up. “What? No kissy kissy?”
“Is this what you want YOUR sleepovers to be like?” Kurt laughed as he held Jamie down with his knee wedged in his back.
“Alright, that’s enough you two. Get up. I have to talk to you about something.” A deep voice cut through the room, causing both men to stop. Diana felt a hand land on her shoulder, and she turned her head to look at Lycaon.
“Ike, what was it? Who sent it? Is everything alright?” Diana asked as he smiled down at her.
“Everything is okay, Diana. Once Aiden returns… I’m going to have to leave you for a bit. There is something I need to take care of.” He watched as her eyes flashed with concern. “It’s my problem. I’ll handle it.” He then looked up at Jamie and Kurt. “Don’t allow anyone you don’t know near Diana. Don’t bring her any packages or gifts either. They need to all be checked out.”
Kurt straightened up and walked towards him. “What type of risk are we looking at?”
“Someone who is crazy and has nothing to lose…” Lycaon sighed as he stared at Diana’s sweet gray eyes. “I’m going to take care of it. I’m going to end them. This isn’t something for you to worry about. And while I am away, I will have a… friend… watching over you from a distance.”
“What friend?” Diana’s eyes darted to Kurt, who shrugged, not understanding either.
“Trust me.” He gave her a comforting smile, wanting to reassure her.
“I do trust you. I just want to know what’s going on.” She said, giving a small smile.
Lycaon felt a warmth spread across his chest. She had no idea how those simple words made him feel. He knew she wouldn’t like the name he was about to say, but he also wanted her to know what was going on. “I don’t want you to worry or get upset but… I’m going after Eris.”
The name made her b***d freeze in her veins. Eris… the woman who Shaun betrayed her with. The woman who was responsible for the death of her family. The reason she was stuck frozen for one hundred years.
“You’re going after her?” She breathed, her stomach tensing up.
“She has been hiding from me, but I have a way to find her now. I need to finally close this chapter. Eris retaliated against me, and she won’t stop. In the past, she had a half-brother. A demigod… who used to hunt my lycans for sport. I killed him for it and what happened…” He pursed his lips together and shook his head. “It’s my fault, I didn’t see it coming.”
“She killed Diana’s family in retaliation,” Jamie said and Kurt snorted.
“She killed the lycans in retaliation. It isn’t about Diana… it is about all lycans. None of them are safe… including Aiden.” Kurt watched as Lycaon slowly nodded his head.
“Diana has had enough pain in her life. I will do everything I can to make sure she doesn’t endure anymore.” Lycaon then looked over the room and his brows knitted in confusion. “What is with the cots?”
“We will sleep better at night if we are all in the same room,” Jamie said as he eyed Lycaon. “We want to make sure Diana gets restful nights of sleep.” He watched as Lycaon’s eyes narrowed at him.
“I can assure you any lack of sleep would be of Diana’s will.”
“Okay, I feel like this conversation has a hidden meaning?” Diana said as she watched the men turn to look at her. Kurt and Lycaon had blank expressions on their faces, while Jamie had a crooked grin.
“Just humor us, Dee.” Jamie winked as Diana sighed in agitation. How was she supposed to sleep peacefully with three other people?
“Fine, but you guys better not snore!” She growled as she marched over to the bathroom. “I’m taking a shower. Are the three of you joining me there as well?”
“If you are offering—” Jamie started as Kurt’s fist collided with his shoulder. “Dude, it was a joke.”
“One that Aiden wouldn’t appreciate.” Kurt glared at him as a sheepish smile spread over his lips.
“Ain’t that the truth.”
“As always Diana, leave the door open a crack.” Lycaon said as Kurt snapped his head in his direction.
“Wait… what?!” Kurt growled and Lycaon shook his head.
“It’s not a free peep show. I am here to keep her safe. Do you think Erebus cares if she is in the shower? It only takes a second… one second that I won’t allow.”
“What about when you left earlier?” Jamie asked pointedly.
“I didn’t exactly leave. I had just moved to another plane… but I would have sensed Erebus immediately. This way is easier. I can talk with Diana… it is safer.” Lycaon nodded his head to Diana, who shook her head as she stepped into the bathroom. The water turned on and then the sound of the shower door opening and closing.
Kurt moved closer to Lycaon, and he looked at him directly. In a breath that was only meant for his ears, he asked, “You want her for yourself?” He watched as the deity’s eyes moved to his.
“Careful… pup.” Lycaon snarled quietly, letting the P pop at the end.
“We can see it,” Jamie breathed out as he moved closer. “Somehow, she is still oblivious.”
“I’m here to protect her… no matter what. I care about her… maybe more than I should, but her happiness is my priority.”
` Kurt frowned and then glanced towards the shower. “It must be hard on you…” He listened as Lycaon snorted.
“Let’s drop this conversation. Her future is already written… and it isn’t with me,” Lycaon said in a choked whisper. Kurt was someone that he was beginning to feel comfortable with. Even still, he was shocked about how much he admitted to him.
Kurt stood there quietly and then closed his eyes. “I feel something when I am near her.” He admitted and Jamie looked at him in shock while Lycaon stared at him blankly. “I don’t know what it is… but there is a strange familiar tingling. Some warmth that—” He stared at his hand.
“I see…” Lycaon whispered quietly.
“I would never… you know… I don’t even feel like that with her… I mean… Ugh it’s complicated but—”
“I understand, Kurt.” Lycaon pursed his lips together and nodded his head. “You feel protective of her.”
“Yes.”
“Well… that’s good. You should. You are the Beta, after all.” Lycaon could see Kurt’s unsure face and he smiled at him. “It’s okay, Kurt. There is nothing wrong with protecting someone.” The sound of the shower turned off, and that ended the conversation. Though Lycaon’s mind was racing, he kept a cool composure as he stared at Kurt. This was something he needed to discuss with others. Someone who knew more about these things…
As the bathroom door opened fully, Diana emerged with a towel wrapped around her body, steam billowing out behind her. Lycaon’s eyes lingered on her, his heart clenching at the sight of her wet hair and the droplets of water running down her skin. He quickly shook his head, clearing his thoughts, and walked towards her.
“Sorry…” she muttered as Jamie and Kurt abruptly turned in the other direction. “In my haste, I forgot to grab my clothes.”
“Here you go Diana.” Lycaon’s voice was gentle as he handed her a fresh set of clothes. He watched as she smiled at him in appreciation before she quickly stepped back into the bathroom to change. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, settling his thoughts. She belonged to another man, and that was the end of it. It hurt like hell, but he wouldn’t move on with his feelings.
There was a heavy silence in the room as they all sat on their respective cots, lost in their own thoughts. When Diana walked back out, Jamie stood up and clapped his hands together.
“Alright!” Jamie said loudly. “Let’s kick off our first slumber party with a pizza and video games.”
“No pineapple, Jamie!” Kurt growled in a playful warning.
“None for you, but I am ordering one with pineapple for me. You don’t know what you are missing.” Jamie shrugged as he pulled his phone out.
“Time to break Deeders into the family.” Kurt grinned as he walked over to the entertainment stand. “Sorry Dee, I know you are new, but I don’t go easy on anyone. It’s the best way to learn.” He said as he waved some cartridges in his hands. “Do you know how to play?” He turned to Lycaon and watched as his lips twitched up.
“I think I can handle a game,” Lycaon said as he flopped on the couch.
The name Eris didn’t bring any good feelings, but she didn’t want to think about it. Thinking about her, reminded her of her family. She would put her faith in Lycaon. It would be weird for him to leave though. She was getting used to having him around. She was beginning to depend on him. Lycaon, Kurt, and Jamie were now important people in her life.
Diana watched as Kurt began to explain the controls and concept of the game. He talked about it animatedly, and his excitement was contagious. Even Lycaon seemed to be eager to play. For a moment, even without Aiden, she felt a contentment inside of her. Slowly, but surely, she could feel it… the feeling of having a family.
