Chapter 41 She Was Lucky
He held the phone and shook it in front of her. She didn't see it clearly, but knew that it was playing a video.
"Lillian, now I have the evidence in hand, you can't act in a slick way." Archibald proudly shook the phone in his hand.
How could Lillian stand his provocation, so she rushed to grab the phone, "Asshole! Delete it."
Archibald raised his arm to dodge and refused to give it to her. Lillian, who was eager to seize the phone, had no time to concern
about how close they were at the moment. She was half kneeling, holding on his shoulder with one hand and grabbing the phone
with her other hand. She yelled, "Delete it."
Somehow, Archibald fell, she naturally fell along, and now she was up and he was down, she was still struggling to reach for the
phone. Damn, his arms were so long.
She didn't know that the man's shirt she was wearing was too big for her. As soon as she leaned over, he saw what were there
completely.
Archibald's black eyes squinted for a moment, and when the woman was still trying to snatch the phone, she rubbed her soft
chest against his. He was swallowing and his Adam's apple went up and down, and he took a deep breath. The woman really
didn't know what she was doing.
Lillian successfully snatched the phone from Archibald, who was distracted. She looked for the video urgently in the phone, but
did not realize that she was straddling on his legs.
When she went through his album one by one, there was no video at all. She knew that she had been tricked, and stared at
Archibald angrily, "You lie to me."
Archibald held one hand behind his head, his gaze was as deep as the sea, "Lillian, how long will you sit like this?"
Lillian was startled, and looked down unconsciously, and found that she was straddling on his crotch.
As soon as she looked up, she saw desire in Archibald's flashing eyes, and her heart beat fast.
Why didn't she feel it just now? Now she wanted to hit her head on the wall out of shame. It didn’t matter if he lied to her. She put
down the phone, jumped out of the bed, turned around and ran to the bathroom, closing the door tightly.
With her hands on the washstand, she looked at herself in the mirror with an unsteady breath. Her face was unusually red. It was
Archibald’s fault when he tricked her.
Something crossed her mind, Lillian took off her shirt anxiously, and checked back and forth in the mirror several times.
Fortunately, there were no traces of last night, except for her headache.
Archibald stared at the closed bathroom door, thinking she was lucky to run away.
He drove Lillian to the hospital in his Spyker C8 with full speed. A sports car should be at this speed. Lillian thought that he was
not satisfied early in the morning and he needed to let off. She sat tight, and looked out the window and didn't want to respond to
him.
Archibald glanced at her, but didn't notice any discomfort. He cocked his lips and continued to drive the car at top speed. He was
really depressed this morning.
"Lillian, why don't you buy a house near the hospital? It's also convenient to visit Zoe." When they were about to arrive at the
hospital, Archibald asked.
"I wanted too, but it's not that easy." The housing prices near the hospital were high. Besides, Zoe now needed a lot of money for
treatment. She didn’t have extra money for a house.
Archibald glanced at Lillian, who showed a faint worried expression, and drove the car into the hospital without speaking.
Lillian walked into the ward but didn't find Zoe. She found the nurse and asked anxiously to find out that Zoe came on this
morning and she suffered from cardiac arrest and she was still in the emergency room.
She almost fell to the ground when she heard Zoe had cardiac arrest. Fortunately, Archibald was sharp-sighted and held her.
"Why didn't you notify me?" She queried raucously with red eyes.
"Stephen told us not to notify you for now." The nurse was in a pickle.
Lillian exhaled, flicked away Archibald, turned and ran to the operating room, she was occupied by panic. Fear extended to her
whole body.
Archibald frowned and followed her closely.
The lights in the operating room were on and the operation was not over yet. Lillian stared at the door of the operating room
unblinkingly. At this moment, she couldn't even feel her heartbeat, and kept thinking about Zoe.
Archibald asked Kieran to check Zoe’s condition last time, and he knew it was congenital heart disease. He didn’t expect that it
was this severe.
He stood next to Lillian, put his arms around her shoulders and let her lean in his arms, He was painful to see her like this, who
seemed to cannot withstand a single blow. He whispered to comfort, "It's okay, don't worry."
Lillian leaned in his arms in a daze. After all these years, it was only at this moment that she felt that she was no longer alone.
The lights in the operating room dimmed, Zoe, whose operation was successful, was pushed out on the bed. Stephen who
looked tired walked beside her. His forehead was full of cold sweat. The skilled Stephen was worried this time.
Lillian walked up quickly and looked at Zoe anxiously. She fell asleep with a bloodless face, and her tiny face was withered under
the torment of illness. Lillian felt sad.
"Lillian, Zoe is all right, let her take a good rest." Stephen took off the mask, held her hand, and signaled her to let the nurse send
Zoe into the nursing room.
Lillian saw Stephen’s warm smile. She pressed her lips, and then she suddenly broke off his hands. She couldn’t help asking,
“Why didn’t you notify me when this happened? Do you know how scared I am when I heard the nurse said that Zoe's heartbeat
stopped? What if she..."
She was unable to finish her sentence. She clenched her fists until they turned white and her eyes were covered with tears, but
she insisted on not crying out loud.
"I'm sorry, I acted on my own." Stephen felt sorry, he knew that Lillian's mood would be ups and downs if she heard this news.
He only considered that she should not be overly excited, but he didn't expect that if something went wrong with Zoe, and Lillian
couldn’t see her for the last time, she would collapse.
Lillian lowered her head, buried her face in her hands, and exhaled deeply. She needed to be calm.
She lowered her head, wiped the tears from her eyes, sniffed her nose, and looked up at Stephen, "I'm sorry, I lost my mind.
Thank you, thank you for saving Zoe again." She really did. She was too scared; she was afraid to see people around her
leaving again.
The hospital was quiet in the middle of the night, and the corridors on each floor were brightly lit.
Lillian stayed by Zoe's side in the care unit, checking her condition from time to time.
Stephen visited the patient in the hospital last night. He was going back to rest this morning. Zoe suddenly came on. He went in
the operating room again. Today, he was still in the hospital to check Zoe’s postoperative response, so Lillian urged him to take a
good rest.
Archibald was still with her now.
"Archibald, you should go back, you have to go to work tomorrow." Lillian tucked Zoe in, and whispered to him who was sitting
next to her.
"It doesn't matter, I have nothing urgent to deal with tomorrow. If you are tired, you can rest for a while, and I will help you take
care of her." Archibald still sat there.
Lillian looked at him, "The night watch is already a routine thing for me, I'm afraid you can't make it."
"Lillian, don’t look down on me." Archibald sighed softly, "Do I look like I am a rich boy of ill health?"
"Stay up late has nothing to do with your wealth." Lillian replied lightly.
His big palm covered the back of her head, he turned her head towards him, and narrowed his eyes, "Don’t you trust me?"
