Sweet Subterfuge

Chapter 976

CChapter 976
Allen lunged toward them, wanting to grab the keys, but the officer held him back.
The officer put a hand on the pistol around his waist and threatened him. “Don’t move!”
Allen eyed the pistol and paused.
With practiced motions, the officer cuffed his hands behind his back.
At lightning speed. Lewis opened the door to the attic and squirmed in.
The faint light illuminated a small patch of the floor.
Lewis‘ eyes weren’t used to the sudden change of light. He called out in the darkness, “Larissa?”
He was standing in a bright spot. Larissa saw him very easily.
“I’m here. Lewis!”
With his senses, he fumbled around and went to her side.
When he saw her face, he hugged her at once.
“Larissa!”
“Lewis!” Larissa’s tears flowed down again.
The officer’s voice rang out. “Have you found her?”
Lewis answered. “Yes, she’s here!”
The police officer looked at Allen grimly. “What do you have to say?”
Allen insisted. “I was just arguing with my wife. What’s that got to do with you?”
“I can’t control your relationship, but domestic abuse is illegal” the officer said.

“I wasn’t abusing her! I didn’t hit her” Allen became agitated. “You’ll know that I’m telling the truth when you check her for
wounds!”
“He didn’t hit me.” Larissa took a deep breath. “However,” she said, moving her chained leg a little.
Lewis heard the metal clanging on the floor clearly.
“He kept me up here like a slave and refused to let me leave. This is an abduction.”
It was then that Lewis noticed the chain on the floor.
He tugged at it, but he couldn’t pull it off her leg.
Larissa said, “It’s locked. You need to have the key.”
Lewis got up and went downstairs quickly. He looked down at Allen and said, “Where is the key to the chain?”
Allen refused to reply.
“Where is it?” Lewis raised his voice.
Larissa could tell that he was about to fly into a rage.
“Why don’t you find it yourselt, since you’re so powerful?” Allen grinned.
Lewis rushed toward him and grabbed him by his collar. His lists were up to Allen’s lace.
“Im going to ask you one last time. Where is the key?” he said, enunciating each word clearly.
Allen lifted his chin and looked at him in disdain.
“There is no key”
“Stop!” The officer immediately tried to control the situation.
Allen retorted. “He hit me, officer! I want to sue him!”
Larissa was worried that Allen would sue Lewis, and she ran out in a panic.

However, the steel chain prevented her from doing so. Before she could
or the door, she was pulled back.
“Don’t hit him, Lewis! Don’t get arrested because of a monster like him!” she cried out.
Lewis took a deep breath, clearing his mind.
He put down his fists and stepped back, smoothing out his ruffled clothes.
