Chapter 670
Chapter 670
“Milly?” After ending the call, Larissa raised her voice and called. The bedroom door was only hall closed.
Milly stuck her head inside and heard Larissa ask, “Is there anyone outside?
The person outside-
Milly turned carefully to see-
Kevan was looking at her too. He expressionlessly shook his head, and Milly got the message at once. “It’s just me.”
“Oh.” Larissa slumped into the head of the bed at once. Her grip tightened around her phone, and her thumb kept rubbing
unconsciously
at the screen.
The phone’s screen also kept lighting up and blacking out because of that. The camera happened to be pointed at her face, and
the phone unlocked automatically. Larissa’s thumb accidentally tapped on WhatsApp, and Keyan’s chat was right there.
After she went abroad to recover, the number of people who looked for her lessened a lot. Because of that, even though the last
time she spoke to Kevan was more than half a month ago, his chat was still the first on the list.
Larissa stared at Kevan’s profile picture, which had a smiling Aster in it. She stared at it for quite a while as thoughts raced
through her head. Her fingers curled up, and one finger seemingly touched Kevan’s name. The screen changed at once, and it
became Larissa’s chat
window with Kevan.
“I think you look better than when I just came in to give you your injection.” Milly had been “frozen” by Kevan when she was
outside. She did not dare to say a word during the few minutes that they were together. The moment Milly was next to Larissa,
though, she became a ” chatterbox” at once, chatting away with Larissa to no end.
To not let Milly feel left out. Larissa tossed her phone aside and ignored all the complicated thoughts in her mind temporarily.
“Yeah.”
“I guess so too.”
Larissa maintained a weak but sincere smile. Although her responses were short, Milly never thought that Larissa was being
half–hearted.
They chatted for a while, and they somehow ended up talking about the morgue guy who got fired.
“It’s honestly so sad for that guy! Milly sighed. “His family background isn’t so great, and his father passed away early on. His
mother has a serious illness too, and her medicine costs several thousand dollars.
“His hospital job could barely just cover the costs, and both his and mother’s expenses combined means that he doesn’t have a
lot of money left. Now that he has lost his job, his mother’s medication money is gone. I heard that he ran to the director’s office
to beg for mercy! A grown man like him was crying like mad... It didn’t matter who tried to persuade him to stop, he just refused
to!
“We’re discussing in our group chat whether or not we should each spare some money for him so that his mother can have
medicine for the next month,” Milly sighed heavily. “It’s too sad. It’s way too sad!”
“It is sad indeed.” Larissa agreed.
After all the IV drips had been administered, Milly packed up and lell. When she said goodbye to Larissa, she found it somewhat
regretful
then Milly left, the room was quiet again, Larissa was still sitting against the head of the bed, her eyes staring blankly at nothing.
After a long moment of thought, she made a decision. She picked up her phone and called Kevan. But he never picked up at all.
Larissa was wondering about the reason Kevan did not answer when a WhatsApp message popped up. “What?” It was from
Kevan.
Larissa’s heart began to race. She wondered what words she should use before beginning to type out her message. She
carefully pleced her message together and ended up with: “Does the hospital morgue employee getting tired have anything to do
with me?”
and he was doing it for her sake–the end result still troubled her a lol.
The word ‘typing
kept appearing and disappearing under his name. His silent struggle caused Larissa to be certain that he was the one who got
the guy fired, and the reason for that was because of her. Sighing softly, Larissa said to him, “Spare him. I’m not mad.”
