Chapter 642
Chapter 642
As the wedding was almost about to start, the quests began arriving one after another, Kevan and Dylan got busy attending to
them.
Many guests recognized Kevan and wanted to establish rapport with him for future business opportunities. They offered him
cigarettes and asked for photos together. Some even tried to set him up with someone.
Initially, Kevan was willing to entertain them. He wanted to show courtesy for Cylan and the Davis family’s sake. However, he
was known for his patience. Every quest from ether side treated him like a sightseeing spot to lick all their list. He reached his
limit. He excused himsell to get some fresh air.
The ballroom was sp acious. He easily found an unoccupied comer with an open window. The cold breeze that drilled in brought
some clarity to his thoughts.
He glanced at his phone. There were no messages. His grip on the phone lightened as his heart also seemed to lighten. It had
been lour days since his return from Aldovia and Larissa had not reached out to him even once, Had she not seen the items he
entrusted to Lewis?
As much as he wanted to ask her, he hesitated. What it she had seen them and now held a grudge against him?
With a sch sigh, he decided to wait until all the affairs here were settled before flying back to Aldonia to personally apologize to
her.
Engrossed in his inner struggle, he suddenly caught a subtle hint of smoke, prompting him in furrow his brows.
A few years back, the city of Bartham implemented a comprehensive ban on irccor smoking. So, a venue like this one had even
stricter regulations. He disliked people who didn’t follow rules, but he wasn’t sell-righteous enough to go out of his way to remind
or correct them.
He put his phone back in his pocket. He stood upright and smoothed out the wrinkles on his sull jacket hem, preparing to leave.
Suddenly, he heard a lam liar voice-someone sounding nervous, with a mix of anger and unease.
“Are you unable to get the money from your end?
“Da mn it! I knew I couldn’t trust them. They’d completely screwed me over! I lost milions! Now, those old f arts from the board
are constantly giving me a hard time, itching to push me out!
“Kevan might be a wealthy guy, but he won’t lift a finger to help me! We’ve always had a sour relationship, he did otter
assistance, I’d even suspect it was all a tran!
“Alright, alright. Spare me your useless advice! There’s no one reliable to tum to! I need to figure out a way to get the money.
Otherwise, those old larts wil have me thrown into jail I don’t want to end up like my father, wasting the rest of my life there!”
Kevan leaned back against the wall once more. He fell an odd sense of satisfaction as he istened to Cody’s frustrated and
desperate voice. Blue Star Shipping’s vessel had arrived in Dartham before he did. Although he didn’t witness it firsthand, he
could imagine the depths of Cody’s despair upon discovering his cargo had been completely switched.
Cody had put all his hopes on that shipment. With it gone, he lost his last chance at a comeback, and his future looked bleak.
Kevan had heard that Cody had been desperatey trying to borrow money from banks, credit companies, friends, and business
partners. However, the funds he managed to secure were just a drop in the bucket compared to what he had embezzled.
“Damn it!’ Cody hung up the phone and cursed again. “Kevan!” He grilled his teeth and spat out Kevan’s name in hatred.
