Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Dylan withdrew his gaze and asked Larissa curiously. "What he said just now- remember what I told you-what was that?"
"I-uhm-" Larissa was a bit hesitant. "That is...a secret for now."
"Tsk." Dylan teased. "You just met him, and you already have little secrets between you two."
No wonder Kevan had left with a sour face.
Kevan did not bring his car keys with him. Having arrived at the car earlier than the other two, he could only wait for them outside.
Dylan unlocked the car, and Kevan slid into the passenger seat without hesitation.
"Huh?" Dylan looked like he'd discovered something new. "I thought you only exclusively sat at the back."
Even if it was the two of them, Kevan had never offered to sit in front.
Dylan had criticized him countless times before because of this. "Do you really take me as your driver?"
Kevan had always remained indifferent to his complaints. Now, however, he looked straight ahead and said coldly, "It's dirty." Dylan chided, "Didn't you sit at the back when we came?"
Larissa boarded the car without a word.
It wasn't the car that was dirty. It was her.
Even though Kevan's words hurt, thinking about his extreme germaphobia, she could
somewhat understand his reservations.
She supposed, in this world, there were very few people whom Kevan wouldn't consider dirty.
"Ms. Seymour, where do you want to go?" Dylan started the engine.
"Home," she replied.
Dylan glanced at her from the rearview mirror. "You said you'd almost gotten hit by a car just now. What exactly happened?"
Larissa ran through her rehearsed speech internally before speaking. "I ran into my ex
father-in-law, ex-mother-in-law and that mistress of my ex-husband's when I came out of the hospital earlier. We had a little conflict, and someone pushed me onto the road. It was very chaotic at that time. I didn't exactly see who pushed me.
Fortunately, Mr. Hermes was able to stop his car in time. It was thanks to him that
I'm still alive now."
Recalling what had happened, she was still a bit shaky.
Neither Dylan nor Kevan spoke after hearing her words.
Larissa thought the temperature in the car seemed to have plunged significantly compared to earlier.
After dropping Larissa off at her house, Dylan and Kevan rushed back to the
company.
When Larissa had called Dylan earlier, they were both in the middle of a meeting. The sudden vibration of Dylan's phone had earned him a glare from Kevan.
He was about to ignore the incoming call and put his phone on silent when he caught sight of Larissa's name on the screen and immediately changed his mind. He waved his phone at Kevan. "I need to take this call outside."
Every senior executive in Microworks Corporation knew that Mr. Rogers despised any form of interruption during their meetings.
Dylan's bold actions and blatant violation of Kevan's personal rules had everyone else on the edge of their seats with anxiety for him.
And yet, to the surprise of everyone present, Mr. Rogers did not stop him. Instead, he said, "I'll go with you."
The pair did not return after that.
Dylan glanced sideways at the man who had switched to the back seat after Larissa had left and teased, "What? Is it not dirty now?"
Kevan looked out of the car window wordlessly.
"Tsk," Dylan scoffed. "With your personality, don't even think about getting a girl to like you!"
Kevan glared at the back of Dylan's head. "Do you ever stop talking?"
Dylan smiled gleefully and continued wheedling him. "Channeling our embarrassment into anger now, are we?"
Seeing as Kevan was about to lose his temper, Dylan immediately switched the topic. of conversation. "Today, Larissa almost lost her life because of them. Do you really plan on letting those people continue bullying her?"
Kevan's eyes darkened. His hands that were previously resting on his lap tightened. "Let's wait a little longer."
