Sweet Love

Chapter 17: I Will Stay Tonight Then…

Macy arrives at the villa and the servant leads her to the study.

Macy holds her hand up and knocks on the door. She pushes the door and enters. She doesn't look very well.

Macy has no idea how Yusef knows everything about what she does. It's not a good feeling when you know what you've done and said are exposed to another person. Yusef puts his long leg on the other and scrolls his pad on the sofa casually. Upon hearing the sound, he looks up, puts his pad aside and stares at Macy with a cunning smile. "Macy Downey, how does it feel when you get full rejections from 4 banks in a row?"

Macy looks even gloomier upon hearing Yusef's words, "Mr. Penn, are you calling me over to humiliate me?"

Macy stresses "Mr. Penn" on purpose as Yusef's words are on purpose.

Yusef's eyes darken. He understands all the emotions of this lady. He pats on his side of the sofa and orders softly, "Come over."

Macy hesitates for a moment but still can't fight the invisible pressure this man gives her unconsciously. She steps forwards and sits down at the position a seat away from Yusef.

"I won't bite." Yusef raises his eyebrow, "Come over!"

Macy has no choice but to do so. She stares at Yusef seriously and speaks word for word, "I think we need to get two things straight. We did make a deal but it doesn't mean that I have completely lost my freedom and the thing such as monitoring is unbearable for me."

Yusef then laughs, "Macy, do you think I have that time to spy on you? How will it benefit me if I do so?"

"Well then, how do you know..."

"I don't want to know actually. But the bank manager called. I don't have a choice."

Macy heard and doesn't say anything anymore, but her frown doesn't ease a bit.

Yusef leans on the sofa and says, "Do you know why I ask you to come here?" Macy doesn't say a word.

"Our deal has already started. You can come to me if you need money."

Yusef didn't explain, but Macy knows what he means. Indeed, as long as she can make Yusef like her, money won't be a problem.

But she is not that kind of woman, and she is not able to switch her condition to that mode. She is very shy to ingratiate herself with him.

Facing the gaze of this man, Macy's throat feels a bit dry and she takes a deep breath to cheer herself up. She slightly leans her upper body on Yusef, "I will...stay tonight then."

She blushes immediately after the words come out of her mouth. She is not a lady with all sorts of romantic experiences, so a sentence is enough to make her blush.

Yusef looks down and stares at her. He is staring at her pink ear and can't help smiling.

He grabs her waist with his hand towards himself. The loving emotion and lust are gushing out from his eyes, and he smiles very subtly, "Why bother waiting until tonight?" While he is speaking, he turns over and puts himself on top of Macy.

After over an hour, Macy takes a shower. When she comes out of the bathroom, she sees Yusef staring at her opened bags, where a book about business is inside. She forgot to zip her bag and an opening shows what's in her bag.

Yusef seems to be very interested and skims through it. He looks at her, feeling intrigued, "Yours?"

Macy doesn't respond, which can be interpreted as an admission.

Since that day when she knew from Yusef that her dad said she didn't have any talents for business, she has felt beaten. Even if the Downeys makes its reputation through doing business, Macy, as the only child of the family, was exposed more to arts and etiquette. She studied language in college, which is nowhere near business or finance. Since her dad was arrested, all the burden has been lain on her shoulders. It was until then that she finally realized that how inadequate business knowledge she has.

With a hatred of falling behind, she wants to fill the knowledge gap in the first place. She went to her dad's study and looks for several books. She reckoned this book fitted her, so she then put it in the bag. It is unexpected that Yusef sees it.

Macy feels a little embarrassed and takes the books from Yusef's hand and squeezes it into her bag. "I just read it for leisure."

Yusef smiles gently, "You can come and learn from me. It's more effective than reading one hundred books."

Macy looks up at him quite surprisingly. She is very aware of the status of Yusef in the business field but this is the first time that she heard Yusef commented on himself so confidently and arrogantly. Yusef notices her startle and says softly, "Let's eat."

Macy gets back her composure and follows him.

The dinner is rich and delicate but Macy finds all the dishes are lightly seasoned and more on the sweet side. Macy takes a spoonful of porridge and is surprised to find out that it's sweet.

Does Yusef like the sweet taste?

Macy doesn't ask but she buries it in her mind.

After the super, Macy takes a look at the time and notices that it has been late. There are several missed calls from her mum and she assumes that she called to ask when she will come back home. Macy thinks for a while and reckons that everything have been done between Yusef and her tonight so she doesn't have to sleep over.

"Yusef Penn... I will come home then." Macy stands up and looks at Yusef who is replying the message on the phone.

Yusef looks up, "Go home?"

"Yeah, I..."

Before she finishes, Yusef says, "What if I want you to stay?"

Macy is shocked and looks at his deep and bright black eyes. She is about to say something but doesn't know what to say.

She certainly has no reasons to turn him down. She thinks for a while, "I will stay then."

Yusef's expression becomes more serious after hearing Macy's words. He straightens his upper body and stares at Macy for quite a while.

His gaze freezes Macy and she asks, "Why?"

"Macy Downey. You have to know how to refuse, even to me." Yusef's voice is calm and cold, and he says assertively, "Even though we have made a deal, it doesn't mean that you have to compromise all the time. It applies in life and especially in the business world."

Macy feels an unnamed feeling being aroused. She looks at the deep eyes of Yusef's and nods, "I understand."

After she comes out of the villa, Macy is still thinking what happened just now. That Yusef Penn who made that statement is definitely charming.

Yes. She shouldn't consider their deal a filthy deed and she can never give up her standpoint. Since that day she met Yusef Penn in front of his villa, he has been passing on Macy an idea of keeping her faith no matter how much failure she faced before.

At that moment, Macy feels grateful that she met Yusef because in such short several days' time, she has learnt so much and the most important of all is that she learnt about giving up and keeping on. Something is bound to be given up, and something is bound to be held on to.

At the moment she is so absorbed in her own thought, Sunny calls.

"Miss Downey, we have received the money! Where did you finance the severance pay? The money makes up exactly how much we need to pay for our workers' severance!"

Macy is holding the phone and lost in her thought for a while. She turns back and looks at the villa which is not far from her and she is lost in her thought again.

She has already known where the money is from.000
