Chapter Two
It's been two days since the whole supernatural reveal and my parents and I were still not on talking terms. I had just a day until I leave for school and Austin and I have been trying to make the best of our time left together.
Although Chris and Savannah have tried to talk to me, I ignored them cause they'd hurt me. Austin and I were currently in my room watching TV. The door creaked open and mum poked her head in.
" Hey, uuhhm, can we talk?" She asked.
Austin and I made eye contact and he raised his eyebrows asking if we should agree, I nodded and he paused the movie and we walked out of my room and into the living room where dad was already seated. The first few minutes were spent in an awkward silence until I broke it.
" What do you wanna talk about?" I asked.
" We're sorry for not telling you about the whole supernatural thing. We thought not telling you would be the best way but clearly, it wasn't." Mum said.
" The fraction of Supernaturals we're under are in a war against one of the most powerful Supernaturals ever and we just wanted to protect you." Dad explained.
" We understand the fact that you were trying to protect us but you don't hide something that big from your children. What if we had gotten our powers in school or something?, What would we have done?"
" Austin's right, what would we have done?"
" We didn't actually think of about all that."Dad replied sheepishly.
" Well you should have. All this while we thought you were out on business trips while you were out saving the world.
You guys told never even told us where you worked, do you know how hard it is not knowing where your parents are most of the time?, You don't, you put us through a lot of things that we can't even start explaining." I said.
" We know, and we're sorry." Mum said.
" Now do you mind explaining everything about the whole 'supernatural' stuff to us?" Austin asked.
" Gladly, Supernaturals are people with unexplainable powers who can do unexplainable things. There are different types of Supernaturals, we have Vampires, Werewolves, Monsters, Elementists, Shape-shifters and so on. Each type of Supernaturals belongs to a faction like Vampires and Werewolves, Demigods and Monsters etc. We all lived in harmony until the rebellion happened.
The Magicians are one of the most powerful Supernaturals ever and they belong to our faction. The Magicians started attacking mortals but we found a way to prevent such attacks by wiping their memories which worked until now. The Magicians keep on attacking mortals and now, they've started attacks on Supernaturals in our faction. We found a way of protecting the mortals not only from physical damage, but also from mental breakdown. We created a device called The Mist." Mum explained
" I'm sorry the what now?" Austin asked.
" The Mist is like a curtain between heaven and earth that sort of filters the visual images a mortal can see. It basically just prevents them from seeing the Supernatural activities going on around them. For example, I could shape-shift into a dragon and all they would see is a regular dog." Dad replied explaining further.
" So that explains all the weird stuff I've been seeing!" I exclaimed.
" You've been seeing weird stuff?,why didn't you tell us?" Mum asked.
" Cause I thought I was just seeing things. I mean sometimes I'd just walk down the street and I'd see an animal like a lion and when I look around no one else would seem to react so I just thought I was going crazy."
" Well, you're not crazy those are actually Supernaturals." Dad answered.
" I have a question?" Austin asked
" What is it honey?"
" The books we read about Supernaturals like Twilight and Vampire Academy, did they actually happen?"
" Well to some extent,yeah."
" But you erased all the memories mortals have of Supernaturals or are the writers Supernaturals?"
" Well there are some special people who were born with the memory of the past, they don't remember every specific detail but they have the memory and the skills to write about it." Dad said.
" Wait so you're telling me that Twilight is real !!!" Austin exclaimed.
" Of course not. Yes there are vampires but the writers write their own versions of events." Mum explained.
" Before we continue the whole question and answer session I just want you to know that everything we did and are still doing is for your own safety. The magicians are out there and they are not sparing anyone. They are vicious and they are showing no mercy. We kept it from you cause we didn't want you worrying or being paranoid." Dad said.
" It's alright. I will go to Crest Hill High-
" You don't have to go I'll just call and tell them you're not coming." Mum said.
" No Mum, I want to go. I need to learn more about my heritage and how to defeat the magicians." I said.
" That's my girl." Dad said and I grinned.
" So what animal are you?" Austin asked.
" I'm a leopard while your Dad's a dragon." Mum replied.
" That explains why you're so obsessed with leopard prints!"I exclaimed and mum smiled sheepishly.
" So does that mean I'm gonna be a dragon?" Austin asked.
" No it doesn't. It just means you have a higher chance of being a dragon. But, if fate has it you can be an elementist."
" Oh, okay. So what else do we need to know?"
***Hei!
This was kind of a filler chapter so it's kind of short but I promise the next chapter will be longer.
