Chapter Twenty
" Just because I'm focusing on elementists doesn't mean you shouldn't listen." Iris warned as Seb began his lecture.
" There are various aspects of magic. Healing magic, combat magic, fixing magic, dark magic and many more. Each magician specialises in one of these aspects but every magician is taught some basic spells from each of the aspects. Like Iris said, magicians wield elements too. The highest number of elements a magician can wield is two. And they are very rare cases. I wield fire and my sister wields water and air. But we can only control the elements in their basic forms."
" The one thing that all magicians have in common is the fact that the are almost impossible to catch off guard. Magicians are sensitive and observant. They are quick." Iris said.
Then Rose suddenly attacked Seb!
Seb automatically flipped her and she hit the ground.
Hard!
" Why did I even listen to you?!" Rose groaned.
" Rose! I am so sorry. I didn't know-"
" Stop fuzzing over her Seb, she'll be fine." Iris said and Rose glared.
" I'll be fine?!, did you not see how hard I hit the ground?!"
" Why did you attack Seb anyway?" Bryan asked as he helped her up.
" Because the she-witch asked me too!" Rose exclaimed brushing the dirt off.
" But Iris didn't say anything."
" Telepathy." Iris and Rose said simultaneously.
" Why did you tell her to attack me?" Seb asked.
" Because I wanted to prove my point. Seb wasn't expecting that attack yet he was able to handle it. Magicians are almost impossible to catch off guard. But the keyword there is, almost. There are moments in which they can be gotten off guard. And once you get those moments, you exploit it. You use it against them, to your own advantage."
" Your best bet is to distract them. And what better way to distract a person than through pain. This skill is something I like to call the glass bomb. As the name implies, it's a glass bomb. It's easy to make but it can be very lethal." Iris said smirking.
" The earth elementist brings up glass sand and creates a mould out of rocks. The fire elementist then heats it up. Once heated, it begins to take the shape of the mould. The water and air elementist cool it down and the rock mould is broken by the earth elementist. The water elementist then fills it up with water. The air elementist, then builds up pressure in the box until it explodes causing the glass to shatter at a very high speed. I'll demonstrate so you might want to move back for this."
We moved back and Seb created a shield around us. Iris brought out the punching dummies and then she started the procedure.
The glass box shattered and shards of glass went flying. Most of the dummies had shards of glass in them, some had lost their heads and padding.
" So now it's your turn. Once you get this, I'm going to train you on how to use individual elements as distractions." She said smiling cruelly at the elementists.
" Shifters start training with your weapons."
***
It was our turn to train yesterday and it was tiring. I was thankful that the elementists where the one training today again.
" Gather around." Iris said then she made a make shift table and set out a plan.
" We move by 3pm on Saturday and we get into position. By 4pm they will be marching through that path." She said pointing to a point on the plan.
" But they'll be sending their dogs first." Seb added.
" Dogs?" I questioned.
" Yeah. But this are not just any dogs, they have been trained to detect any form of supernatural present. But, they can't sense them if they are above 25 feet."
" So we're going to play it safe and stay 30 feet above the ground. Lucky for us, there are a lot of tall trees in that area." Iris said and Jenny gulped.
" We're going to be dividing you into groups and each group will have at least one elementist in it."
" A troop consists of 50 magicians and a troop leader. Making 51 people in total. So our formation is going to be such that we'll have them surrounded no matter where they are coming from. Iris and I will go down first and try to make peace with them. But if they refuse, we attack."
" But, only attack when we give you the signal. And never!, I repeat, never! attack a surrendered magician." Iris warned.
" Now, elementists, where were we?"
***
We were all sweaty and tired as we walked into school after our training session with Iris and Seb.
" I'm so tired I can barely stand!" Tiara cried leaning against the wall.
" And we still have to go for classes after being through the hell we call training." Rose added clearly tired.
" You guys look tired." Iris said walking up to us.
" Ya think?!" Rose retorted.
" You guys do know you don't have to go for classes if you're really tired right?"
" I'm sorry what?!" Bryan exclaimed doing a double take.
" Yes. I mean if as your teacher I think you should not be subjected to any further activity I can get Mr T to give you the rest of the day off."
" You could do that the entire time and you didn't?" Paige exclaimed and Iris shrugged.
" I didn't know you were that tired." She said and we all gave her a blank look.
" Just give me a sec." She said and she was gone.
A few minutes later the bell rang and students filed out of their classes. They were staring at us and whispering.
" Yes we're all sweaty. Deal with it!" Rose exclaimed.
The intercom in the hallway sounded and Mr T spoke,
" All warriors are to be excused from classes for the rest of the day."
" Yes." We exclaimed just as a student spoke,
" That is so not fair!"
" What Clarissa?, Would you please enlighten us on why you said Mr T's announcement is not fair."
" The rest of us are also working our butt off during training but we don't get the rest of the day off!" She said and a few students supported her.
" Oh please you guys aren't working half as hard as we are!" Daisy argued.
" I bet if we were training in the same conditions you are we'd be better." Clarissa challenged and some students echoed ' yeah.'
" Is that a challenge I hear?" Iris asked as she materialised out of thin air. A crowd had gathered during our short exchange with Clarissa.
" How about this, you guys, I mean the whole school come tomorrow to watch my fighters train. And if you think you can do half the things they do, I will train every student in this school for a month and you get to enjoy the same benefits as my fighters. Deal?"
" Deal."
" 11am tomorrow. Don't be late." Iris replied and vanished again.
***
The whole school had gathered to watch us train. Today was going to be our last training before the mission.
" Do you guys want them to win?" Iris asked and we shook our heads.
" Then show them what you got." She said smirking and we grinned.
" It's show time."
She raised the earth like a platform and stood above everyone else.
" Listen up!" She yelled and the arena went quiet.
" Yesterday I made a deal with some students that if they can do half of what my fighters do today, I'll train them for a month and they get to enjoy the same benefits as my fighters. But if they can't, then they'll have to deal with the special treatment my fighters get. Enjoy the show.
