Chapter Thirty three.
" We are not going anywhere. We fight together." Bryan said.
" If the war is near then so be it. We will fight until the very end.
***
Iris's POV.
" Don't be foolish." I sighed.
" We know what we were getting into when we accepted to be guardians. And we are ready to fight." Irene said.
" Iris you took us from wannabes fighters to warriors. If you were able to do that, then you'll be able to train us for the war." Russell stated.
" I can't. You don't understand that there's not enough time."
" Then we'll make due with what we have." Kirk said.
" No matter what, whatever it takes." Faye piped in.
" We are going to be fighting an entire army of magicians-"
" And they'll also be fighting our army." Basil said cutting in.
" What army?" I asked incredulously.
" We are the strongest and powerful supernaturals in our army and we are not ready. The magicians will chew them up and spit them out!"
" Nothing you're going to say will discourage us. We are fighting by your side."
Jim said.
" It is an honour to have been chosen to fight alongside the Elysian and we are not going to back out halfway." Rose said.
" If there's anyone who can train us, it's you." Tiara said.
" You can do this Iris. We all believe in you. You just have to believe in yourself." Shirley said and I gulped.
" I, Cole Hernandez," Cole started placing his right hand on his chest.
" Pledge my allegiance to the Elysian to serve and protect her with my life." He ended and bowed as he got down on one knee.
" I, Rose Mortez, pledge my allegiance to the Elysian to serve and protect her with my life." Rose said following Cole's lead.
" I, Sebastien Romero…"
" I, Shirley Romero…"
" I, Bryan Makanjuola…"
" I, Tiaraoluwanimi Makanjuola…"
" I, Jim Lee…"
One by one they all pledged their allegiance to me and got down on one knee till there were only two people left standing.
" Ara no, you're too young to be-"
" I, Ara Moon, pledge my allegiance to the Elysian to serve and protect her with my life." Ara said as she got down on one knee joining the rest.
" We pledge our allegiance to the Elysian and we vow to protect her with our lives." They all said and I took in a shaky breath.
I stared at the people kneeling in front of me and blinked back tears.
I was extremely touched by their determination.
They had so much faith in me to the point of pledging their allegiance to me.
" Rise." I croaked out and they did.
" We're are going to give it all we've got. We might die, but we are definitely not going down without a fight." I said and they all grinned.
" I guess you all know what this means." Seb said and they nodded.
" No slacking. We are going to train till every single part of our body aches and till we can't move."
" We're ready for anything you throw at us." Bryan assured and I smiled.
" Bring it in." I said and they all gathered around to hug me.
***
" You guys ready?" I asked and they nodded.
" Today's training we'll be focusing on fears." Seb said.
" There are special called The Metus. Physically, they are the weakest magicians. But they are ranked the 2 most powerful magicians." Shirley said.
" This is because the Metus use their victim's worst fear against them." I said.
" They create an illusion and make their victims face their fears. Then they feed on their fears killing them off slowly or, they leave their victims to be finished off by the combat magicians." Seb continued.
" The illusions might appear life-like, but none of it is real. It's just a magic trick." Shirley piped in.
" Once you can conquer your fears in the illusions, you conquer them. They are very weak and they know no other form of magic other than Metus magic. One strike, and their dead." I said.
" The Metus are most likely to be at the rear end of the battle due to their lack of experience in fighting but some of them are brave enough to enter the battle so you have to watch out." Seb warned.
" Your fears might have something to do with your powers. For example, a fire elementist might be afraid of drowning, a lion shifter might be afraid of Hyenas." Shirley said.
" I'm going to cast the spell on you and while you're fighting your fears, Seb, Shirley and I will be monitoring. Is that clear?"
They nodded and I smiled.
" Formido Alucinatio!"
They began fighting their worst fears while we monitored. I was particularly interested in Ara's fears.
She seemed to have just one fear, rejection.
" You're a loser!" A child said.
" You're pathetic!" Another cried.
" You don't belong here slum girl!"
" She doesn't even have powers, she's a mortal. She belongs with our trash." A girl who appeared to be their leader said.
Ara was backed up against a wall looking down at her feet and her gulped. She took in a deep breath and looked at them.
" I am not trash. I am way better than any of you."
" And FYI, I have my powers. And unlike you guys, I don't control Water, Fire, Air or Earth. I control Spirit."
The children looked at her shocked by the fact that she spoke back to them.
" Yeah, that's right. I control the rarest element ever. Spirit. And unlike your elements where there are thousands of you, there are only two known Spirit users in the entire world. The Elysian and I!"
" T-th-the Elysian?"
" Yes Christine, the Elysian. She's my teacher and also my roommate and she thinks I'm awesome. So you can take your opinions and stick it up your butt!" She yelled and the spell was broken.
" Nice." I said giving her a fist bump.
" Although I don't remember saying you're awesome."
She turned red and I laughed ruffling her hair.
Unlike Ara, my guardians couldn't break their spells so I had to break it myself. They were all sweaty. Some of them were crying and Tiara was vomiting the contents of her stomach onto the floor.
" You all have a lot to learn." Seb stated.
" Elysian! Elysian! Elysian!" A student yelled as she ran into the arena.
" What is it?"
" You have to see this."
