Chapter Thirty nine.
" We don't have much time." I sighed and Malika smiled.
" Three weeks is already gone!"
" I understand."
" How are we supposed to raise an army?, A trained army before then?, I don't know what to do Malika."
She held me and I rest my head on her shoulders even though I was slightly taller than her.
" There's an ancient spell book." She said and I raised my head abruptly.
" What?"
" There's an ancient spell book that is said to be the most powerful spell book ever. Magicians lore says it contains spells that are as old as time itself."
" Where is it?, Maybe there's something in there that can help us?"
" According to legends, the book is in a massive library called the Colossal Library and it is guarded by the Saevus. They are brutal and ruthless magicians. They are ferocious and savage fighters. The only way to win is by killing them, they never surrender."
I gulped hard.
" If you think the Coratians are deadly, wait to you see a Saevus fight. With them it's either kill or be killed."
" How come no one has ever found the spell book?, Has no one ever beaten them?"
" I don't know Iris. Only few people have survived their attack. The Saevus are primarily the opposite of the Metus. The Metus are strong mentally, but weak physically."
" So the Saevus are strong physically but weak mentally."
" Exactly. If you want to win, you play mind games. They get confused quite easily."
" Great!" I exclaimed sarcastically.
" I have to play mind games with magicians that are probably stronger than me and won't rest till I'm dead."
She chuckled in response.
" How do you know so much about them?, Have you ever fought one before?" I asked curiously.
" I didn't, but the man who raised me did. Hermanos, that was his name. He was a great magician. He had this horrendous scar across the left side of his face. He had gotten it from fighting a Saevus."
" Everything I know about magic and the different types of magicians come from him. He told me about the coordinates that were needed to get to the Colossal Library, he even gave them to me."
" Can I see them?"
She reached into the pocket of an old jacket she always wore and gave me a small piece of paper. The paper was thin and fragile and was probably older than me. On the side s were scribbles and drawing but boldly written in the middle were the coordinates Malika was telling me about.
" I believe I possessed this for a reason. It's like fate led me to Hermanos, and it led me to you. So you can go to the Colossal Library."
" But the Saevus, how will I defeat them?"
" I?, You forget that you are not in this alone Sophia."
I still don't understand why she won't call me Iris like everyone else.
" You have the guardians and Seb. Even Carmen and my fighters can accompany you."
" But Malika, I can't just take them to fight the Saevus without any training."
" Sometimes life just throws you into the battle, it doesn't give you time to prepare." She mused and I rolled my eyes.
" You gather your fighters and I'll gather some of mine. Well meet in the conference room."
She walked out of the arena leaving me alone with my thoughts. I took a deep breath and exhaled through my mouth.
" Rose." I called.
" What?" She asked in my head.
" Gather the rest of the guardians, the Elders Mr T, Emily, Seb, Shirley and Ara. We have a meeting in the conference room now."
" We'll be there."

" Is it a risk you are willing to take?" Elder Emlyn asked.
" I don't know what to do that's why I called you all here." I stated massaging my temples.
" What do we have to lose by going?" Rose asked.
" Lives. That's what. I will not only be risking my life but your lives as well."
" It changes nothing. We are risking our lives by being guardians. It's kind of in our job description." Cole stated. I had to fight back a grin.
" Why don't you take half of them with you, like you did the last time." Elder Yvonne reasoned.
" The entire group will not be enough to fight them." Malika said.
" That's why I'm asking Carmen and a few other magicians to join them."
" Think you can keep up?" I asked Carmen and he grinned.
" We'll try our best."
" Alright then. Suit up."
I brought out a small drawstring bag from my pocket and tossed it to Rose.
" Show 'em how it's done."
" Gladly." Rose replied.
" Ara." I called and she looked at me with her full attention.
" You did amazing well on the last mission."
She grinned and I smiled.
" I want you to do the same thing for this mission. Think you can handle that?"
" Heck yeah!"
" That's my girl." I gave her a fist bump and turned to Emily.
" I know what to do." She replied smiling whilst rubbing her stomach unconsciously.
My eyes drifted down to her protruding stomach. She was about 5 months into the pregnancy.
" Okay team, let's roll."
My suit came on and I cracked my knuckles.
" Be careful!" Mr T yelled and I smiled.
" Always."
I passed the paper that held the coordinates to Seb and Carmen so they could see it. The three of us would be doing the teleporting because I would be too drained if I did it alone.
" Listen up!" I said and they all turned their gazes towards me. There were 30 people standing on front of me with determined looks on their faces.
" So, we are going up against the Saevus. They are fierce, vicious and brutal. This time there's no space for surrendering. Kill. I don't like it either but we don't have a choice. A couple weeks ago we trained on fighting against the Metus (I'm sure the magicians among you are already familiar with the teaching). The Saevus are the opposite. They are strong physically but weak mentally. So this battle is going to be all about mind games."
" You have to be witty and cunning in your approach. They get easily confused so use that to your advantage. Am I clear?"
" Yes Iris!" They echoed.
" Oh and most importantly…try not to die."
