Supernaturals: Legends of Iris.

Chapter Thirty.

Iris's POV.

" You ready for your first day of training with me?' I asked Ara and she gave me a nervous smile.

" I don't think anyone can ever be ready for their first day of training with the Elysian." She replied and I cracked a smile.

" Show me what you've got." I said folding my arms.

" Uhmm, okay." She said as she tried attacking the dummy I set up. She kicked it but it didn't budge so she tried punching it.

" Ouch!, What is in this thing?! Concrete?!"

I sighed and took her right fist in mine. I healed her broken thumb with magic and shook my head.

" You obviously have no form of experience. Didn't they teach you how to fight in the village?"

" They taught other children but I was excluded in most of the village's activities." She said quietly looking at her feet.

" I'm gonna have to tell the council to look into that. The more inexperienced fighters we have the less likely for us to win the war."

I took her hand and she looked up at me.

" The number one rule of punching is to never tuck your thumb in. If you do, it's easier to break it." I said as I showed her the proper way to form a fist.

" Now try punching it."

She tried again but this time it was better.

" Another thing you need to know is that you punch, you have to use your legs. They are your base, your foundation. So when you punch you have to bend to increase your punching power. Like this."

I demonstrated by punching the dummy. It toppled over and I brought it back up.

" I'm not expecting you to hit it as hard as I do but give it a try."

She tried it again and this time she managed to shake the dummy.

" I did it!" She said and I chuckled.

" We're not done yet. The final thing I'll tell you is to rotate your body that way when you bend it won't feel akward and it will be easier to counter a hit from your attacker."

I showed her how to do it and she tried it again using all the tricks I had taught her. She hit the dummy and although it didn't fall, it rocked violently.

" Good job." I said giving her a high five.

I taught her some other hand combat skills and she was a really fast learner.

" I don't know whether to be happy or worried about how fast you're catching on." I said and she shrugged smiling.

" Now to the weapons."

I took her to the table of weapons and her eyes glanced over every weapon until they landed on a crossbow.

" Ahh, the crossbow. Similar to my weapon, the bow and arrow. Good choice." I said. She moved to pick it but I stopped her.

" I have something better than that old thing. I was saving it as a spare for Irene, one of the guardians. But I don't think she'll mind you having it." I brought out simple black bands and clasped it on her wrist.

" What are these?" She asked clearly confused and I chuckled. I tapped the clasped twice and it expanded till they became chunky bracelets that stopped near the bend of her arm. It covered her fingers halfway like fingerless gloves.

" Those are the finest crossbows ever created. It's lighter and more discreet than those other ones. A perfect blend of human technology and supernatural technology."

" Woah!"

I took off one of the crossbows and wore it. I stood in front of a target and fired at it. The arrow, or in crossbow term the bolt hit the bullseye and I smiled.

Still got it.

" When will I be able to shoot like you?" She asked pouting and I chuckled.

" You need constant practice."

" But you didn't!, According to what I've heard you got yours on your first trial!"

" It's not my fault I'm a natural killing machine."

" Try firing at the target."

I showed her how to operate the crossbows and she fired. The bolt landed near the target.

" I stink."

" It's your first time. Don't beat yourself up about it. Plus you did really well. You have straight arms you just need to work on your accuracy and force."

" Try again."

Cole came in a while later startling Ara. She pointed the crossbow at him and he raised his hands.

" I come in peace." He said and Ara blushed.

" I'm sorry I didn't mean to point it at you."

" It's cool. Iris does it all the time. I'm kind of used to it."

I rolled my eyes at his statement and he grinned.

" Don't you have classes?" I asked smiling.

" Well I'm free right now and I thought you guys might want something to eat."

" Thank you Cole but I am not eating anything till I can finally hit the target." Ara said very determined. She turned and continued shooting.

Cole pulled me closer and I rest my head on his shoulder.

" She reminds you of him doesn't she?"

" She does. But she also reminds me of the me. The person I was before I was thrown into the supernatural world." I said and he squeezed my hands lightly.

***

" What is the most powerful element?" Ara suddenly asked as she placed her sandwich down. Cole had left since he had a class.

" Why'd you ask?"

" I'm just curious."

" What do you think is the most powerful element?"

" Fire." She replied without missing a beat.

" Why do you think fire is the most powerful element?"

" Well because it's very destructive. Some people say fire has a mind of its own."

" I think every element is powerful. Every element can be destructive. It just depends on how you use it." I said and she nodded slowly.

" I wish I had my powers." She said pouting.

" You'll get it soon."

" Every other kid my age in the village had already gotten their powers. They used to make fun of me."

" Trust me, I know how it feels." I said and she looked shocked.

" I'm sorry, people made fun of you?!"

" I wasn't always this confident or powerful." I said.

" I was a 17 year old girl who had been in a supernatural school for almost 4 months without shifting. People made fun of me all the time."

" I never knew that."

" Well now you know. Don't stress too much over your powers. It will come once you're ready."

***

I had been juggling my training, the guardians' training and Ara's training everyday for a week now. It was stressful but hopefully, it will be worth it.

I was training the guardians and Ara was seated watching carefully. She was a sweet girl with a loveable personality. Everyone of my warriors had taken a liking to her. I had been making her attend our training session to see if they'll trigger her powers.

I had given them a break a was speaking to Seb and Shirley when I had a feeling that something was wrong.

I looked around and saw Ara touching a dead plant that we had used in training. The plant came back to life and began sprouting and growing taller.

" What's happening?!" Ara asked frantically. Her hand was still on the ever growing plant.

Could it be?

" Ara calm down." I said and she nodded nervously.

" It's not working!" She cried.

" Iris we can't stop it I don't understand. We should be able to stop it. It's earth." Logan said and I took a deep breath.

Unless it isn't.

" Ara, sweetheart I want you to take a deep breath."

She did and I moved closer.

" Good now I want you to close your eyes and concentrate. Imagine the plant reducing." I said.

She followed my instructions and the plant gradually shrunk to its original size. She removed her hand from the tree and sighed in relief. I ran over to her and I saw her gulp.

" I'm sorry I didn't-"

" Sshhh!, Are you okay?" She nodded and I took her hands in mine.

" How did I do that?, Am I an earth elementist?" She asked biting her bottom lip.

" No. You have something way stronger."

" What?"

" Ara, you are-"
