Supernaturals: Legends of Iris.

Chapter Fourteen

* Warning this chapter contains extreme violence. Read at your own risk.*

Cole's POV.

Today was the day.

Iris was going to present herself before the council.

The meeting was slated to take place at Athena Academy so we were travelling there.

Meetings like this were huge deals because Shifters and Elementists travel from all around the world to witness it.

By the time we got there, the hall was packed.

" I'm here!" Iris announced walking in.

" So you're the potential Elysian?!, I thought you were declared missing?" Carl spat and Iris smiled.

" I was, but now I have been found." She turned to face the council and waved.

" Hello!"

" Travis John is here to present one of his students as the Elysian." The head of the council said.

" If it is later revealed that she is not the Elysian, you and your school will face dire consequences for wasting our time."

" So!, How am I supposed to prove it?" Iris asked.

One of the councilman was about to speak when Carl cut in.

" The 24 warrior challenge."

The crowd gasped and they started buzzing.

" Order!, Order!" The head councilman yelled.

" Mr Richardson you are not permitted to speak while the council is in session unless you are called upon. Miss Gonzalez you are permitted to decline the-"

" I accept." Iris said and the crowd started buzzing again.

" Iris are you crazy?!" Mr T exclaimed.

The 24 warrior challenge was a no mercy match. The contender had to do fight against 24 of the best shifters and elementists. Which includes all kinds of shifters and elementists.

The last person who had attempted the challenge died in the arena so it was not a child's play.

" Miss Gonzalez are you sure?"

" Yes. Yes I am."

" Iris no!, The last person who took the challenge died in the arena." Rose reasoned but she ignored her.

The head councilman proceeded to read the names of the warriors and I was surprised to hear my name. Rose and I were the only warriors selected from Crest Hill High.

Nobody knew how the warriors were selected but I was proud to be among the 24 best fighters in my fraction.

" I really don't want to fight my best friend." Rose muttered picking her weapon which was a whip. It was no ordinary whip, it was laced with tiny blades of metal that could hook onto the skin before slashing it.

It was a really nasty weapon.

" Yeah and I don't want to fight my mate but we have no choice. It was her decision."

We were led to the arena where we lined up each one of us suited in our armour and with our weapons.

Iris entered still dressed in her jeans and tee and she smiled at us.

" Cute!, Armour!"

Her eyes flashed a brilliant white and she was instantly clothed with her armour. She snapped her fingers and her weapons appeared by her feet. She picked up the quiver and strapped it across her shoulder and strapped the satchel near her waist.

Her bow had been redesigned to feature two metal spikes at the end of the arc.

There was a buzzer sound and the challenge began.

Two fighters ran towards her and she shot both of them of in several places with her arrows. Another fighter ran forward and she drugged him with a tranquilizer.

An earth elementist stepped forward next sending a mini earthquake in her direction. She jumped up right on time and sent a blaze of fire towards him. The smell of burnt flesh filled the air and I winced.

Two elementist sent a blast of water towards her but she turned it towards them using the water to freeze them.

Another elementist attacked this time using fire and she countered with water. She caught his arm as he was about to throw a punch and twisted it so bad I heard his bone pop out of his socket.

She turned towards the rest of us as if asking,' Who's next?'

The next attackers were shifters, one was a Jaguar while the other was a Griffin. She shifted into a tiger and roared. It seemed to have paralyzed the Jaguar and I swear I saw Iris smirk in her animal form. She pounced on him slashing his skin several times before snapping his neck.

The Griffin managed to scratch her which was the first successful hit on her since the challenge had begun. And she was not happy about that.

She shifted back into her humans form and shot arrows at it's head which was the most vulnerable place in a Griffin's body.

An arrow embedded itself into it's neck and blood spurted out as it fell.

The next group of four attackers didn't even get close as she cast a spell rendering them motionless.

One by one she took out the rest of the warriors until there were only three of us left. Carl, Rose and I.

Carl charged towards Iris with his Katana blades and Iris laughed. She levitated him and shifted into a dragon then used her wings to hit him. He hit his head on the wall of the arena and fell on the floor limp.

"She shoots!, she scores!" Iris exclaimed as she shifted back to her human form.

" Idiot!" I heard Rose mutter.

" Here goes nothing." I said and we charged towards her.

Rose shifted halfway and pounced on her cutting two jagged lines on her cheeks. Iris pushed her off and rendered her motionless.

She turned to me blood running down her cheeks from the cut Rose had given her. and I silently prayed that she would go easy on me like she had done with Rose.

Shifting would be a stupid move as she would have defeated me and I would have ended up like the others so I chose to fight her in my human form.

She dropped her quiver, bow and satchel and got into a fighting stance with her dagger in her hand.

I knew that even though I had the advantage with the sword, she would still have managed to beat me somehow.

Blades clashed against each other as we fought. I had managed to land some cuts on her and I was kind of proud of myself.

She knocked my sword of of my hand sending it flying far away from me. I resulted into hand combat throwing a punch. She did a windmill kick and knocked me down before stabbing me in the gut. The dagger felt hot as it pierced through my armour and into my skin. I stumbled back before falling.

' It must have been laced with magic.' I thought. Because that was the only reasonable explanation as to how it was able to pierce through my armour.

" Sorry Cole, no mercy." She said breathing heavily.

Even though she still beat me, I was still proud of myself for landing some cuts on her and for also having the longest fighting time.

She stood victoriously in the middle of the arena covered in sweat and blood breathing heavily.

" All hail the Elysian!" I heard someone cry out before I passed out from the blood loss.

***

I sat on the bed has one of the healers was cleaning my wounds. I was thankful for Alpha bloodline which made me heal faster than a regular shifter.

If any mortal had experienced any of the injuries Iris had inflicted, he would have been dead. But thankfully, supernaturals were much more stronger even in their human forms.

Irish walked into the infirmary and everywhere went quiet. One of the healers offered to heal her wounds but she declined asking for a water bottle instead. She poured some water onto her wounds before healing them with magic.

The council and the principals of all the schools walked in to see the degree of injuries Iris had caused but stopped talking when they saw her.

" Step aside." She told the healers and the obeyed. Nobody wanted to annoy her after seeing what she could do to them.

She said some words which I'm guessing is a spell in an ancient language then started levitating.

Groans filled the room as she began working on the injured warriors. The pain was intense but I had to bare with it because I could see the cut closing up.

I heard bones popping back into place and the painful howls and I winced. The sound seemed to die down after awhile and I ran over to catch Iris as she fell.

" Is she okay?" The head councilman asked.

" Yes, she just needs to rest." I replied laying her down on a bed.
