Chapter 117 I Can't Help But Think She Set You Up
It's not every day you come across an opportunity that's almost too good to pass up.
But knowing Luna and her dubious character, Nancy was anything but convinced that Luna had anything good in store.
"Luna, I'm sorry, but I can't agree to this."
In the past, such a rejection would have been enough to rouse Luna's anger. Surprisingly though, Luna responded with a friendly smile.
"Why the rush to say no, Nancy?"
Luna said, lightly patting Nancy's hand. "I promise that if you can cover for Vivi for just one week, I'll do everything I can to help you with your father's issue."
Nancy's gaze snapped up to meet Luna's. "You mean..."
Luna nodded with a sly smirk. "You know as well as I do that every time you bring up your father. Vivi finds some excuse to avoid the topic. If you agree to my request. I promise to follow through." Nancy fell silent.
Regarding Day's matter, Vivi has indeed gone too far over the past three years.
In addition, the written promise that Nancy had obtained from Vivi and Lily had been ruined by heavy rain, the words blurred beyond recognition. If Vivi reneged on her promise this time, Nancy would have no way to hold her accountable. With these thoughts in mind, Nancy exhaled heavily. "Okay, I'll agree. But Luna, you better keep your word."
"Of course."
With a smile, Luna patted Nancy's shoulder and sent a glance towards Charlie, who was standing nearby. "Enjoy your evening," she said with a hint of ambiguity. Afterwards, she stepped into the open elevator and waved cheerfully at Charlie and Nancy before the doors closed. Her heavily made-up face was all smiles.
As soon as the elevator doors slid shut, Charlie approached Nancy. "What did she say to you?"
Nancy shrugged nonchalantly. "Nothing much. Just wished me a pleasant evening."
Charlie's eyes narrowed. "That's it?"
Confused, Nancy looked at him. "What else?"
Charlie chuckled. "With that smile on Luna's face, I can't help but think she set you up."
Set up?
Perhaps not quite.
Rather, Nancy was once again stepping in for Vivian.
Exhaling in frustration, Nancy asked, "So, where's your room? I want to see just how extravagant Young Master Firth's accommodations are. Let's blind me with luxury!"
Charlie laughed softly and led her towards his room at the end of the hall.
He took out his keycard and with a "beep", the door swung open. Nancy gasped at the sight of the room. "Wow! Young Master Firth, you're really something else. This room is
enormous and so luxur
Charlie pulled her into the room, his arm circling her neck.
"Enough with the theatrics. You're so over the top, even Director Grant would keel over."
Nancy broke free from Charlie's grip and continued to look around, her tongue clicking in amazement. "It's not an exaggeration. After seeing your room, mine feels like a doghouse. Young Master Firth, you really do live differently."
"Why are you calling me Young Master Firth?"
Charlie walked over to her, his hands naturally finding their way to her waist. He dipped his head slightly,
his warm breath falling onto Nancy's face. "Sweetheart, call me 'darling'."
