Chapter 477
Chapter 477 Wedding Anniversary
Lucia was sturned for a while after she figured out what he was saying.
In the beginning, she agreed to marry Paul on the account of Janet and Timothy for she wanted to ensure them a happy childhood and a family with both mother and father. And they made a deal about their hands-off marriage-Lucia gave him the opportunity to win her heart while Paul played the role of father for Janet and Timothy and they both could take it slowly.
In a trice, they had been a false couple for five years though they didn't get laid at all. Paul was a wonderful father for her children and a perfect husband for her despite Lucia just taking Paul as a friend before. But now, she was trying to accept him as a real husband due to Paul's countless passion and patience toward her.
As for the wedding ceremony, it was a promise made by Lucia. She undertook to hold a wedding ceremony with Paul when she was genuinely ready for him.
However, Lucia didn't anticipate that Paul would ask for it at this point.
She took a deep breath to conceal her true feelings. "Paul, I think it's not a good time for us to... Lucia was in two minds about accepting his proposal.
"I know it's not a good time to have our wedding ceremony now, Paul looked down saying in a low tone. "But the fear of losing you almost drives me crazy. I'm so touched by you when you are rushing around all day trying to help me and Paula but at the same time, I'm badly uneasy. I'm afraid that there will be something standing between us. Lucia, I really can't bear the pain of losing you, could you just give me a substantial guarantee?"
His words were just like a punch in her heart, leaving her with a strong sense of guilt.
She knew that she owed a debt of gratitude to him all the time.
And she was willing to return his love and get his company of five years paid. "Okay." Lucia, biting her lips helplessly, finally
uttered the welcome word, but her voice was somehow spiritless.
"Paul is the best man for me for he is devoted to me,” Lucia spoke in a low mumble, as if she was persuading herself.
August is out of my reach, just like a wind blowing wildly, impressing but overwhelming. Lucia was still lost in her thoughts. "Really?" Paul's face lit up with a smile, but he was oblivious to her absence of mind.
Lucia forced a smile at him and nodded vigorously.
Yes! Lucia repeated her answer in her mind. She should move on, make a fresh start in her life, and embrace Paul from the bottom of her heart.
"Great!"
Paul swept her up and threw her around in transports of delight.
Lucia let out a cry in shock, but soon, being infected by him, she sparkled a smile as well. "Put me down!" She chuckled and patted his shoulders.
Paul obeyed gaily, and when he looked at Lucia, the gloom in his eyes dissipated thoroughly.
At this time, Lucia thought of August's plan, then she said to Paul, "Let's eat out the day after tomorrow to celebrate it! What do you think of Genting Restaurant?”
It would be strange and suspicious for her to be there alone. But that was not the case if she showed up there with Paul.
Paul didn't know Lucia's intention and he was now in high spirits, so he consented readily. "It's good, Let's spend a wonderful night there.”
Hearing this answer, Lucia finally put her heart at rest.
She must have to find out the killer who crashed Paula this time!
Her effort for such a long time would be paid off only by bringing those responsible to justice. Time soon at the day after tomorrow.
In the morning, Jeanne got up to wash up as usual.
For the past two days, she stayed at home all the time following Mark's suggestion to buffer the effects of stress on her caused by the kidnapping the other day and avoid her giving her away in confusion.
After cleansing her face, she came to before the dresser. When she sat down, she saw the calendar on the table. The date of today was marked with a red heart.
Today was the third anniversary of her and August. They had been married for three years. However, Jeanne was deeply distressed by the thought of the necklace. Then she took it out on the skin-care products on the dresser.
She thought August designed that necklace for her especially at first, but only to find that it was made for Lucial
The more she thought, the more furious she was, and most importantly, she couldn't even get outside at their anniversary!
As Jeanne was seething with frustration, there was a knock on the door. "Ma'am, are you awake?" A maid was asking.
"What's the matter?!" Jeanne said snappishly.
"Mr. Adams has sent a wedding present here for you, would you like to have a look?"
Jeanne was secretly pleased to hear that, then she flew to open the door and came to face to face with the maid. "What it is?"
She didn't envision any wedding present from August at all!
The maid answered submissively, “It's downstairs, you can you and see it for yourself."
Hearing this, Jeanne could no more forbear herself from getting downstairs at once and went downstairs quickly.
When she reached the garden, she was welcomed by a carpet of red roses.
Jeanne's jaw fell at the sight of the sea of roses. She was amazed by this wonderful wedding surprise prepared by August.
"Look! How nice Mr. Adams is! It is well-prepared for Mrs. Admas especially and the roses were just airlifted from Bulgaria in the early morning! So sweet!"
"Unbelievable! This is the first time I have seen so many roses for once!"
The maids behind Jeanne were still murmuring their envy of each other.
Jeanne, surprisingly, didn't rebuke them for the first time, instead, she was pleased extremely by their murmur of envy. With a bright smile, she reached out her hand to touch the roses one by one, her eyes full of laughter.
Against all her expectations, August bore their third anniversary in mind this time!
Obviously, in good mood, Jeanne was strutting around the roses merrily, and then she found that there was a pink note in the center of the flowers.
"See you at Genting Restaurant at seven o'clock in the evening.”
It was left by August.
Jeanne's lips quivered involuntarily in happiness and then turning around she tore into the villa. It seemed that August's note made her completely free of edginess.
August must put her dear and near to his heart! Jeanne thought to herself.
Soon, she came back to the garden again with her phone. She felt like taking selfies to record and share her happy moments and she did. She shared the picture of the roses and her on social media with a word, Happy Anniversary!
Everyone who saw her post would think August had great chemistry with her now.
Within a few minutes, there were several comments from Jeanne's friends, which were all calling them the perfect match for coupling.
Jeanne was on cloud nine when she saw that and putting down her phone, she went to prepare for the date tonight singing.
"Holly crap! I really overestimate Lucia! What a creep she is, I'm really sick of her now!" She jauntily bitched about Lucia while she was calling her besties in the bath. "I'll let her know who is the true love of August!”
"Of course!" The woman on the other end of the line buttered up her. "She is nothing compared to you!" "Just hark at her! Who does she think she is..."
Suddenly, her phone rang and the call was dropped. It was Mark's phone call ringing up.
Jeanne frowned at it, but finally, she picked up. "Hello?"
"My lady, I saw the photos you posted on social media.” Mark's voice was as hoarse as before. "Um-hum?” She fiddled with the bubbles in the bathtub indifferently. "Come on! Can't I even post some of my photos on the Internet if I have to be a virtual prisoner in my home?"
"Did you get that flowers from August?" Mark asked after a pause.
"Of course! Who else would it be?!" Jeanne was in one of her moods.
Darnn Mark had spoiled her wonderful day with this awful call!
"What else did he say?"
"No, nothing more.”
"Then will you go out today?"
As Mark's kept probing, Jeanne's temper was getting very frayed. "Mark! Who thinks you are to meddle in my private affairs? I
didn't even take a step out of my house for these days. And you told me that I still can't get out on my anniversary! How could you!"
Mark just let her vent her anger on him silently, and when Jeanne stopped, he persuaded again, "My lady, I still think you'd better not go out with even August.”
"I just go out for a dinner with him, what will become of me? And I'm together with August, I'll be safe enough.”
After speaking, she hung up the phone directly.
However, Jeanne didn't know that she would be deeply sorry for what she'd said and done regardless of Mark's advice afterward.
If she could start all over again, she would never go out for the date with August, absolutely not.
