Strangely Familiar

Chapter Prologue

“To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders” - Lao Tzu.

A few centuries ago.

Moonlight was the only source of vision in the otherwise flawless midnight. The aura surrounding it wasn’t at all peculiar. It didn’t have a strange vibe around it. It was another full moon. The lunar eclipse was already proven. Thank you kindly. Nothing was interesting for prying eyes in the deafening solitude of the night. As always, the darkness would engulf the entire sky in its slow bitter taste.

It didn’t, however.

Alarmingly, albeit not discreetly, a flood of dazzling light divided the sky as the night was ripped as though by a sharp-edged sword piercing its way through and through, resulting in a stream of blinding light splitting the sky into two.

If only one were awake to catch that moment, the witness would have observed how the once dismal route shimmered – like diamonds gleaming together. As lovely as it might have sounded, one couldn’t help but notice how uncanny it appears. There was no explanation for the route that sprang out of nowhere in the middle of the night and continued to glare for as far as one’s sight could reach. If one were to compare, it would have resembled the red carpet laid for stars to stroll on.

Except this time, it wasn’t a star.

Yes, it appeared to be little more than an unsolved enigma of an infinite cosmos. This type of movement could have been previously documented and is the topic of an ongoing inquiry. This could be a probable conclusion since human vision can only perceive the natural world.

The entire event of the night was beyond the scope of human imagination, and the spectators were now left with a nagging curiosity. The sky, however, remained silent as if mocking the idiosyncrasy of humankind.

At least, that’s what an inquisitive spectator would have assumed. Before the rational side of the brain could understand what had just occurred, the radiance faded into thin air. The dark shadows filled their way once again in a wink as if it was in a trance.
