Strangely Familiar

Shaurya felt the shackles that had kept his power confined loosen and drift away like a fading scar. His body adjusted to the sudden rush of energy as it surged through him, giving him a sudden burst of strength. He had been held prisoner for so long, and the sudden release of energy was like an awakening from a dream.

He paused to take in the vividness of his surroundings, with the darkness and stillness from his own doing slowly dissipating away. He felt overwhelmed by all the colors and sounds he could now detect coming from around him, which filled his heart with a feeling of joy that had long been absent.

His heart soared with joy when he felt the newfound freedom he had just gained, but his elation quickly faded as he realized that his newfound power came with a terrible cost.

She must be dying.

He could feel her life slipping away like sand through his fingers, and he knew he had to act quickly. He closed his eyes and reached out with his newfound powers, grasping hold of the fabric of time and slowing its progression. He could feel the world around him freezing, waiting for him to make his move.

Shaurya opened his eyes and looked around him, searching for a way to manipulate her fate. He had to find a way to keep her soul from crossing over to the other side. Her powers were too precious to lose. After much deliberation and extensive reasoning, he concluded that utilizing his influence was necessary to keep her spirit lingering in the abyss and avert her from making her way to the afterlife.

He was determined and focused on the task of manipulating time and fate. He used his power to create a complex network of magic without recognizing that the Intrix was shifting by the force he was exerting. He worked tirelessly, feeling the weight of his own power as he wove in and out of time, slowly creating a new future for her. He could feel the fabric of time shifting around him as he worked.

He had accomplished what he set out to do, using the strength given to him to change her fate in the blind hope that it was the right choice. The remarkable blend of abilities engulfed him before dissipating into the sky and time re-accelerated and began flowing normally once again.

The Royalty set his foot forward and summoned his followers. He had a lot to do.
