Spoiled By My Once Vegetative Husband

Chapter 20

Chapter 20

Yvette stood before the stairs, wearing a faint smile.

Her slender body and flawless skin made her look as attractive as a pink rose. Despite her lightly childish appearance, Yvette’s facial features were exceptionally delicate and refined.

Yaeger’s eyes gleamed as complicated emotions rose within him. He thought, “What a young and beautiful girl. Is she Joshua’s new bride! What a courageous move by the Luxford family. They found a gorgeous bride for an unconscious man like Joshua. Are they not worried that this girl will cheat on him and tarnish the family’s reputation?”

“My mother-in-law told me to wait for you here. Please, come in. Dr. Booker.’ Yvette grinned at him. The mole under her eye accentuated her bewitching smile.

Yaeger fell into a daze. He mused, “This is a dangerous woman!”

“Thank you, Mrs. Luxford,”

Not standing on ceremony, he swiftly followed her upstairs afterward.

Arriving at a corner of the staircase, Yvette could not contain her curiosity as she asked, “Your achievements are remarkable to have become such a skillful doctor at such a young age.

Yarger could not help but snicker upon hearing her ill-disguised attempt to sound him out. “I received my license to practice medicine two years ago, and I’m still in training. You should not think too highly of my medical skills. Mrs. Luxford.”

Yvette sta ggered and nearly lost her footing.

She was surprised by the way Yaeger was belittling himself.

“Haha. You’re hilarious, Dr. Booker. I’m sure you’re good at what you do since my mother-in-law trusts you. It didn’t matter when you received your license since that piece of paper does not reflect your knowledge and skills.”

“You’re right. My aunt has been confident in me all along. Besides, it is becoming a trend for people to achieve their goals through back-door dealings. I am grateful for being able to treat Joshua using my connections in the hope of becoming a certified medical practitioner soon.”

Yaeger stifled his urge to laugh and walked ahead as if he did not notice the dumbfounded look on Yvette’s face.

She thought in exasperation, “He’s a quack?!”

Inside the bedroom, Yaeger examined Joshua’s condition..

He was shocked and stole a glance to size up Yvette, who was looking guilty when he noticed the two bumps on Joshua’s head.

He thought, “What a cruel young lady. She should at least try to cover up if she’s planning to murder her husband. She is obviously trying to take his life.”

“How’s Joshua, Yaeger?” Lauren gazed at her son while fiddling with her hands in agitation.

Yaeger took off his face mask, revealing a faint smile on his face. His dark eyes glinted under his glasses as he said solemnly, “He’s fine aside from the old and new bumps on his head and some mild bruises on his body. He’ll be as good as new after applying some medications.”

Lauren had seen the bruises on Joshua’s body a few days ago. However, she was puzzled by the old and new bumps on his head, as mentioned by Yaeger.

She looked at Yvette while thinking, “There is more than one bump on his head beside the one formed this morning?” As she expected, Yvette cast her eyes down at once, looking guilty.

Chapter 20

“I was wrong. I accidentally caused Joshua’s head to knock on the cabinet two days ago when I wanted to flip his body.

Yvette’s voice grew more diminished as she spoke, and she was afraid that Lauren would order someone to beat her up and chase her out of the house.

“I did not do that on purpose. Please do not be mad, Mom.”

Lauren had the urge to question Yvette if she would be furious if another person had inflicted so much damage on her own

SOIL

Just as Lauren was about to lecture Yvette again because the latter’s carelessness had invoked her wrath once again, Yaeger, who was having trouble containing his laughter, piped up. Joshua is a lucky man. These injuries could be a blessing in disguise for him. I notice he is now more responsive toward stimuli. There’s a high chance he will be regaining his

consciousness soon.

Lauren’s anger instantaneously turned into a delightful surprise.

Yvette, who was standing aside, could not help but frown. She was worried that Joshua would take revenge on her if he woke up because she had hit him.
