Stephanie wryly smiled and said, “But I feel the time is too short… I think spending more time with you could help more. Would would our staying disturb you?

There was a sudden sound of shattered glass in the room 

Ashley’s face instantly turned pale, and she hurriedly said, “You guys review the script first, I’ll go check it out” 

Without any regard for Stephanie and Gillian’s reactions, she rushed to the room 

Gillian and Stephanie locked at each other in confusion….

“Or should we go and see if they need any help?” 

Both hesitated, but eventually went ahead 

In the room, there was a little girl, cute like a doll, wearing a pretty pink dress. She looked about five or six years old and very tiny 

She cowered in the corner, shivering with fear. 

Ashley walked in, seeing her like this. She was almost heartbroken. 

It felt like a heart–wrenching pain. 

“Emily! What happened? Are you hurt?” Ashley hugged the little girl and asked anxiously 

The little girl didn’t speak, just cried continuously. 

“Don’t be afraid, Emily Mommy’s here.. Mommy will protect you.” 

Hearing her mom’s voice, Emily finally stopped crying, but her small body was still shivering. 

Glass debris scattered all over the floor 

Stephanie and Gillian were outside the room, witnessing this scene 

Ashley held a little girl her face full of despair. The little girl was so thin and frail, her eyes filled with tears and fear. 

“Ms. Morris ” 

Hearing their voices, Ashley turned her head and forced a smile, “Please wait a moment. I’ll get Emily to sleep, then come out and talk to you” 

Stephanie quickly said, “Don’t worry about it… Well help you clean up the floor first. She’s barefoot, and we’re afraid she might step on something 

Ashley gratefully nodded, “Thank you.” 

The former famous movie star, how proud she once was. 

Yet she too had her moments of weakness… But this wasn’t even close to the countless unbearable experiences she’s had. 

Ashley had long grown accustomed to it, and she no longer feared being seen by outsiders. 

Stephanie and Gillian promptly fetched a mop and cleaned up the floor 

Under Ashley’s grateful gaze, they left the room and closed the door behind them. 

Back in the living room, both Gillian and Stephanie were somewhat lost in thought 

Ashley, the famous actress, actually had such a daughter… And that little girl seemed somewhat different from ordinary children. 

Could it be that Ashley’s sudden retirement and disappearance from the entertainment industry had something to do with her daughter? 

After more than half an hour, Ashley walked out of the room with an exhausted face. 

Stephanie and Gillian immediately stood up and said, “Ms. Morris, if you are too tired, we can come back tomorrow” 

Ashley shook her head, “Your time is tight, we can’t afford to waste any more. Don’t worry. Emily is asleep now, and I’m free.” 

“Ms. Morris If you don’t mind us asking, is Emily your daughter?” 

Ashley immediately put on a guard, responding. “What are you trying to say?” 

Stephanie said with a wry smile, “We’re just very grateful and we want to be closer to you. We have no other intentions! Rest assured that we will not tell anyone about this!” 

Ashley bitterly smiled, “Never mind Maybe I’m just being too nervous. But this matter really can’t be spread out, or both me and Emily will be threatened.”
