Spirits and Sorrows

Chapter TWENTY-TWO

Kane paced back and forth in the dark room, staring at the leathery scroll that held the same two images. The two images showed the two outcomes of his future and weren’t wavering at all. It was set in stone. One of these events was going to occur and he needed to make sure one of them went through. This was his last chance. He wouldn’t get another one after this.

You need to stop, Kane.

He froze at the sound of the familiar voice. No, it couldn’t be. Not after all this time. . .

Kane, Bianca said.

“Go away,” he snarled.

Kane, please stop this.

“No!”

It’s not too late. You can stop this and -

“Enough!” he bellowed. “You’ve ruined everything once before! You will not ruin this too! Begone witch! Begone!”

He used all his willpower to throw Bianca out of his mind, ignoring her pleas. He banished her spirit and made sure she had no way of coming back.

When she was gone, he released a roar of fury and ripped the scroll into pieces.

She was back. She was going to ruin everything. Again. Everything he’d worked for was going to be shattered.

Releasing another enraged roar, he destroyed everything in sight.
