Spell Bound

Chapter Twenty

Lucian

Having Arabella fall asleep in my arms has to be the greatest pleasure that I have had in my life.

Her soft body pressed up against mine, her curves molding against me. I can feel every exhale of breath she makes, the air hitting the skin on my neck warming the area. Every hour or so I would feel her teeth scrape against my skin, pressing slightly on the area where wolves usually mark their mates.

I can only pray to the moon goddess that we spend all of our nights like this.

She begins to stir in her sleep, unconsciously rubbing her body against mine.

I feel the blood in my veins start to heat up as it started to pump faster. I feel myself start to harden, but I quickly take control of my body. My erection softening at my command. The last thing I need is for her to wake up to that.

I have had the privilege of sleeping next to her two nights in a row. Our relationship has a very fragile foundation, even something as minor as my reaction to her body would be enough for her to attempt to destroy it.

She lets out a sigh before she begins to readjust her body, trying to find a more comfortable position.

Her movements end up pushing me on my back, and she practically climbs on top of my body. Her right leg hiked up by my waist, while her left leg runs down my body. She lets out a content sigh before nuzzling her face into my neck.

She may deny and rejection her feelings while she is awake, but the way her body naturally gravitates towards mine in her sleeps lets me know her true feelings. The connection that we share goes way beyond the ritual that we started.

I felt it when her and I first made eye contact in the forest. She felt it when she put her trust in me to give her all the power that she needs in the motel. Still, I will allow her to blame her actions on the ritual that we have started. For now.

I need to prove myself to her, show her that I am worthy of her love. That would have to start with me telling her that I am not romantically interested in Marisol. She needs to know that she is the only female for me.

Another thing that I need her to realize is that a lot of the things that the witch’s lied about when it comes to my kind. Once she lets go of her prejudices, she will soon realize that her and I are perfect for one another.

I just need her to open up to me, and I need to do the same as well. Once I break down those walls of hers and figure out who she wants revenge against I will be able to show her that there isn't anything that I wouldn't do for her.

I will prove my loyalty to her by eliminating her enemies. After that she will extend her knowledge to help the wolves in the pack lands. Everything will go back to normal and my pack will make her feel welcome by embracing her culture. They would do anything if it meant that their Luna accepts them.

Arabella begins to stir once again, her strained movements alert to me that she is about to wake up.

After swaying her into not fighting our sleeping arrangements she curled into me like a sweet little kitten. Her body molding into mine as we slept peacefully. Soon she will be back on the defensive, spewing the hatred that she has for me and my kind.

Her eyes slowly start to flutter open, and I begin to savor these last few moments of peace with my mate.

She peers into my eyes, a small blush coating her cheeks. “I have always heard humans speaking on how your eyes are black. I always said that they were being dramatic.”

She continues to observe me, not making a move to get away from me. “My eyes weren’t always like this.” I may as well open up to her. I want to know everything there is to know about her, and I want her to know everything about me as well. The only way that I will gain her trust is by trusting her. Hopefully my little spitfire will be inspired by me sharing some of my life story with her.

Her curiosity didn’t go unnoticed by me. Her muscles that were molded against mine tensed, she propped up on her forearms, and her eyes widened.

“Do you wish for me to tell you Bella?” I ask before slowly shifting us so we are both laying on our sides facing one another.

If it wasn’t for the information that she is desperate to know, I am sure she would have pushed me away and cursed me. “Yes.” She whispers out, and I know that is the only response that I am going to get.

“All of the alphas in the pack lands are born knowing that they are meant to lead their pack. They go through extensive training starting at age seven to ensure that when the title of alpha is bestowed on them they are ready for it.”

She nods along with my words, but I can tell from the look on her face she wants to ask questions. She may not realize it, but I spent the five day stay of captivity observing her.

I know what she looks like when she is yearning to learn more information. I know how frustrated and violent she can get when she doesn’t get the answers that she is looking for.

“It’s okay to interrupt me and ask questions.” I state before cupping her face. “I know how inquisitive you are.”

She rolls her eyes at my observation, but that doesn’t stop her from commenting. “I thought that wolves chose the next Alpha by having some kind of fight to the death.”

I let out a chuckle. “Not exactly. That has happened in the past, but it is not something that happens often. Most wolves don’t want to become alpha, it is a lot of responsibility to take on. It is very consuming job, physically and mentally.”

She doesn’t say anything else, but nods.

“I was never meant to be an alpha. I was my parents second born so I was never put through the essential training to become alpha. I never thought that I was going to amount to much. I expected my only duty in life would be to cater to my mate, and help her raise our pups."

She rolls her eyes at my statement. "I doubt that. You're too cocky to just sit back and not have something to brag about."

I smile at her observation. "You are the last person that should be calling anyone out about being cocky, or did you forget how you ended up in this situation in the first place." I remind her.

Her eyes narrowed and her jaw clenched at my sentence. Even though she isn't speaking I can just imagine the words that I know she is fighting back from saying. Seeing my mate fight against her instinct to spew her hurtful words at me only let me know one thing.

She is genuinely interested in getting to know me.

It doesn't matter how adorable I find her anger. If my mate is curious then it is my responsibility to satisfy it.

She continues to observe me. Her pinched features letting me know that she is still furious about me throwing her actions in her face.

I reach down and grasp her behind her knees, draping her leg across my waist.

Her eyes follow my movements, widening as I slide my hand up her thigh trailing up the side of her body before settling on the side of her neck. I begin to softly stroke my mark on her neck with my thumb, hoping that my gentle affection can drive away her anger.

Her eyes connect with mine again, her hard gaze softening. “Keep mocking my failures, it’ll only encourage me to get it right the next time.” Her seductive gaze falls down to my lips. “So how did you end up becoming alpha?”

I turn my eyes away from hers, looking up at the ceiling. Attempts to distract myself from the way that she is looking at me. “A few years ago the alpha of North pack died. He was a horrible person. He neglected his pack by putting his wants first. He rejected his mate, and then strung her along while he got another man’s mate pregnant. There were a few other things, but that was the main thing that got him sent away. A year before his banishment I was visited by the moon goddess in my dream, she told me that I was meant to be alpha. I told my family, while my parents thought that I was lying, but my brother believed me. Archer helped me catch up with everything that I needed-“

“Archer.” He states with her teeth gritted. She tried to yank herself out of my embrace but I held her tight. “The same wolf who eliminated the fire coven!” She accused.

I let out a sigh, I should have avoided using his name. Even though it has been quite some time since Archer did what he did it is still a sore spot for most witches. Including the ones that are apart of packs. “Yes, but there is a reason why he did it, but it is not my story to tell.”

“I doubt there is any reason to eliminate sixty-one witches in one night.” She stated with a huff.

“I am not even going to question why you know the amount of witches that were apart of the coven.” I stated with a laugh. “Anyways, my parents always viewed me as lazy, I wasn’t interested in being a warrior, or have any legitimate rank within the pack. I just wanted to live day by day and help the pack in the ways that were instructed and spoil my mate. They knew that I enjoyed doing what I wanted when I wanted. I didn’t have to worry about anyone other than myself when I made decisions. I was selfish, impulsive and greedy. They had no faith in me whatsoever when I spoke to them about my dream. Yet, my brother believed in me.” It was a conscious effort on my part to not say his name. “He spent our entire childhood bailing me out of trouble. Whenever there was something he that I wanted he was there to provide for me, because he always believed that I was meant for something more. He is the one who trained me, and while I wasn’t the best student he was always patient with me. Within a years time I was confident enough in my training to tell the Alpha King my dream and how I was meant to lead the North Pack. He approved of me challenging the alpha. In the end he refused to submit to me as his alpha so I killed him. It was nasty, but I did what I needed to do.”

I turn my eyes back to Arabella when I realize that she hadn’t interrupted me. I could see the worry on her face, her eyes scanning my face.

“Can wolves just challenge each other for the title of alpha?” She asked quietly.

I can’t stop the smirk that forms on my face. “Be careful, Bella. I am starting to think that you might be concerned for my well being.”

Her worried look quickly turned into a scowl. She rolled her eyes before turning her face away from me. “I should have known that you savages don’t care about taking a life!” She huffs out.

The booming laughter that escapes me causes her to face me once again to glare at me.

I pull her closer, crushing her body into mine.

Even though she uses her arms to unsuccessfully get away from me, I notice that her leg tightens around me.

I place my chin on top of her head, so she doesn’t see my smile.

She likes me. I am sure that she is unaware of it, but it doesn’t take away the knowledge of knowing that my mate has feelings for me. She craves my touch as much as I crave hers.

“The reason that I am not worried about another wolf challenging me is because I try my hardest to be a good alpha. Along with that the moon goddess has blessed me with strength, speed and stamina unheard of by wolves. Most importantly I am not worried because I have you.”

I feel her body tighten against mine at my words. I am not going to go into details just yet, about how her powers have somewhat transferred to me as well. I am aware of her feelings for me, but I am unsure if she would throw away her life to ensure that I die and don’t gain her powers.

She doesn’t ask me to elaborate.

She retracts her leg from me and begins to pull away from me once again. This time I oblige her even though it pains me.

She climbs off the bed slowly, the chain on her foot still restricting her movements. “I still don’t see how that turned your eyes black.”

I sit up from my laying position, the duvet falling off of my torso. “They turned black after the moon goddess blessed me.”

“Can you unlock this?” She asked lifting her foot. “I am in a desperate need of a shower.”

I can tell by her attitude that the moment of affection between us is over.

“Alright, but I won’t allow you to put yourself in jeopardy again. If you attempt to escape again I won’t be as lenient on you.” I state before pulling the key out of my back pocket.

I stand from the bed and walk to her as she impatiently taps her foot on the floor.

“You must think that I am insane. Who would willingly put themselves through so much pain and humiliation?” She asks.

I smile at her response as I lift her foot and slide my key into the lock. “When it comes to you I can never be too sure. You keep me on my toes.” I state as I slowly place her foot onto the ground.

She narrows her eyes at me. “Now I need things to get ready.”

“Everything that you need is in the bathroom, from your soap to your hair care products.”

She takes a step back looking at me warily. “I assume you got that information from Valentina.” She turns around and starts to walk towards the bathroom.

I smirk at her back. I’ll let her think that I got that information from her friend. I reality I got it from listening to her thoughts. The very first day of her being my captive she spent an entire hour thinking of all of her hair products that she would have to be without until she escaped me.

When hearing her thoughts I couldn’t tell if she was angrier about me abducting her or the fact that she didn’t have access to her hair products. I chuckle thinking about it.

I hear the shower start, and as much as I am tempted to go and join her I know that it is a bad idea. No doubt she would attempt to do a spell and have it backfire. That would only cause he pain.

Instead I exit the room, walking away from the temptation. If I want to earn her love that means that I will have to have control over myself.

“It would be so nice if I could meet her!” Marisol exclaimed as she skipped through the hallway next to me.

“I don’t think that is a good idea right now.” I say with a chuckle. I have yet to tell my mate that she doesn’t have to worry about me being with another female. Unfortunately I name dropped Marisol to my mate. I don’t doubt that my little spitfire will spew her hurtful words towards Marisol as soon as she finds out who she is.

Marisol stops in her tracks and frowns at me.

Judah and I stop follow her lead.

“Now is not the time to pout, Marisol.” Judah coos to his mate, pulling her into his embrace. “He is just being selfish with his mate for now.” He places a kiss on her hair.

She bites her lip to keep from smiling as a blush coated her cheeks.

Judah directed his gaze to me. “Are you making any progress with your mate?” He asked.

I smirk. “She likes me.” That’s the only answer that I want to give out. I want to keep our intimate conversations and the affection we show each other private, but I know that now is not the time to be that way. “She is slowly lowering her guard towards me, and I am sure in a few days time her prejudices against wolves will be gone. Though I am not certain.”

Marisol wiggles her eyebrows at me. “Do you like her?”

“I’m in love with her.” I answer quickly. It’s not something that I need to ponder. How could I not be in love with her? She is tenacious, inquisitive, passionate, bold, and sharp-witted. Her dominant personality all but demanded my love. “Within time I will make her love me as well.” I finish.

“Such a good strategy.” Judah said with a chuckle.

I start to observe Marisol. It doesn’t seem like she has gotten any worse, but she also hasn’t gotten any better.

Seeing the Luna Queen in this state only reminds me that I need my Bella to help us.

“Has Scarlet found anything?” I ask.

Both Marisol and Judah’s bodies tense up at my question.

“No.” Judah replies sharply. “I don’t see how. She has enlisted the of every single witch that lives with a pack and they still haven’t been able to come up with a solution.”

Marisol began to stroke his clenched jaw in an attempt to calm him down.

“I know my Arabella, I just need to press down on the fact that she doesn’t know how to help. Her curiosity will get the best of her. She will slip up and tell me how to save her.” I smile as I think of her arrogance. Out of all of her traits I can’t help but find that one the most adorable.

Marisol smiles at me. “You don’t have to rush. I’m sure the two of you are getting to know one another and are just basking in the newness of your relationship.” She sighed dreamily.

Judah cut his eyes at her. “You need to take a nap.” He states before grabbing her by her arm and walking in the direction of their room.

Marisol gasps as she stumbles to keep up with him. “Good luck with your mate!” She called out.

I smirk as I turn and begin to walk towards the room that I share with Arabella.

As I walk towards the room I can’t help but imagine what her reaction might be to me poking at the fact that she doesn’t know how to stop the effects of blood magic.

She is no longer chained to the bed, so she might attack me physically since she cannot use her powers against me.

She most likely will spew ugly words at me.

I laugh at the thought.

That is exactly what she is about to do.

I make it to the door, pausing after grasping the door knob. Trying to mentally prepare myself for whatever reaction that she is going to give me.

I let out a little chuckle at my nervousness. My little spitfire pulling emotions out of me that I haven’t felt since I was pup.

I finally open the door and step into the room.

The bathroom door is open, and I see her reflection in the mirror.

I step through the bathroom door. “How was your-“

I cut off my sentence as I watch her lifts the scissors that are in her hands and chop off a large chunk of her beautiful long hair.
