Chapter 34 Return the Favor with Blood
When Emily woke up, it was already half an hour later after what just happened, and she was the only one in the ward, it was so quiet that she could hear the sound of leaves rustling in the breeze outside the window.
Fiona had just got out of danger and Emily guessed that everyone was with her at the moment, so she sat up and straighten her back, preparing to get out of bed.
She felt dizzy and started fainting again. While she was about fall and slam her head to the ground, a hand came from nowhere just held her on her waist to stabilize her body. "Are you OK?"
Emily raised her eyes and saw Ewan's haggard and concerned face.
"I'm fine." She retracted her gaze, resisting the disgust from the bottom of her heart to not remove his hand from her waist.
Ewan completely understood how she felt right now, after that he put her back onto the bed, he quickly released his hand on her waist, and the quiet room resounded with a nice soft voice, "It's okay."
She saw this man in front of her, she felt her chest was tight and she couldn't breathe. She hesitated to ask him why he was here as she would seem to care too much if she actually asked. Emily thought for a while, and said, "I want to rest a bit."
She was very clear about what she meant, and Ewan understood, so naturally they knew what each other meant.
"You married Sebastian just want to take back Morris Properties, right?"
"This is none of your business."
She was a tough woman. Ewan didn't feel right to ask more questions so he cautiously replied, "I know the situation in the Clark family is quite complicated. If you need my help..." "Mr. Ewan, I don't need anyone to help me." Emily showed a very cold expression, afraid that her words would be used against her, and said concisely, "No one can help."
Her words were affirmative, Ewan shut his mouth even though he wanted to say something more. After a long awkward silence, he opened his mouth again. "Then take care of yourself, congratulations on your marriage."
Ewan walked out the door, as soon as she heard the door closing, she got up again and wanted to go out to get the inspection report.
The report stated that she was not pregnant, her heart sank, she was so disappointed that she tore up the report paper and threw it into any trash bin she could find.
Sebastian came back from visiting his sister Fiona, but he saw the ward was now empty, the bed sheets were messy, but he saw nobody in there.
"Mr. Clark, do you want me to search for her?" Hope said.
"No, you can go back first and have some rest."
Hope always got her job done perfectly but she is not machines after all, and she had been dealing with these kinds of things all day long.
Hope seriously questioned what he said, and Sebastian usually expected his employees to work overtime and stay up late. Now he wanted her to rest and take it easy? Only when pigs could fly. Sebastian didn't receive any response, then asked, "Is the work too easy for you?"
There was no way she would say that. She quickly went outside as long as this was what Sebastian wanted.
After Hope left, he sat on a chair in the ward, smoking a cigarette while waiting for Emily. He ended up waiting for 20 minutes.
Sebastian was a little impatient. He was about to take his mobile phone to make a call. The mobile phone that Emily had forgotten to bring it with her, was at the side of the bed started vibrating with some music playing.
He subconsciously alerted, who would call her in the middle of the night?
He walked over and looked at it out of curiosity. He didn't know who it was until he looked at it carefully. It was really a surprise. Two words jumped on the screen: "Mr. Miller".
Sebastian hesitated for a few seconds and did not know whether he should answer the phone or not, before the phone suddenly stopped vibrating. It seemed like the caller hung up, and within a few seconds, a text message was received.
He opened the message and the content shown: Are you free? We have a huge party today and you would be surprised. I will pick you up downstairs at your house and pls reply asap.
The thought that Fiona was lying on the hospital bed and that her lower body could possibly be severely paralyzed. The asshole pretended just like nothing ever happened. Sebastian was fuming like a fire burning the whole forest and slowly spreading further.
Sebastian wanted to reply the message, but he intended to put the phone down after long hesitation. His action caught by Emily who was just standing at the door.
"I didn't expect Mr. Clark having a habit of snooping through someone's phones. What did you see after looking at it for so long?" She walked in with a crooked smile.
He put down the phone, his slender fingers habitually adjusted his cuffs, and his deep voice sounded somewhat cold, "Someone wants to surprise you."
Emily naturally thought it was Oskar Miller. Since she got released from the prison, there were very few people calling her. Moreover, Oskar contacted her more and more frequent recently, and almost always showed up at her door.
"You saw it. Let's not talk about if there's anything happened between me and him. Your sister and him will not be together even if I don't exist. Maybe there will be more people just like me. Are you sure she is able to handle them? The curse is not on me nor Oskar, but on your sister herself."
She raised her chin proudly and made it clear to him that she was not a good-tempered person who kept silence after she was mistreated.
He blinked with fierce, "Don't think that you saved her life by just donating that little amount of blood, that was nothing!"
She did shamelessly manipulate him, but she helped Fiona purely out of the kindness, and it was returning her brother's favor on her.
"My blood donation to Fiona was to repay your great kindness towards me two years ago, Mr. Clark. Don't think about that too much. I am not a goddess. I can save a few lives with this little amount of blood." Emily deliberately emphasized, her words sounded ironic and a bit harsh. He did help her but at the same time tricked her a lot.
Otherwise, it wouldn't be the case. The first job she got after she got out of prison was in Dier. Sebastian was in so high a position in Dier, he could completely avoid contact with her, but he did it deliberately. It was only obvious that he was clearly making things difficult for her.
Sebastian tried to look at her, Emily seemed so aggressive just like a wild dog, but he only saw her as a bluff and smiled disdainfully, "You should know who you are right now. You are Mrs. Clark, belongs to the Clark family. You should be careful of what should be done and what should not be done. If you want to be part of the Clark family, you need to cut ties with the likes of him. Don't make trouble and stay away from rumors."
He looked at Emily has a reluctant look on her face, and said again, "If you can't do it alone, you can ask Hope for some help."
"I am trying to be a good wife but don't forget what you have promised me, Mr. Clark."
Her tone was rebellious and rebuttal.
Sebastian was ignoring how arrogant she sounded, stretched out his hand and touched her small and exquisite chin and raised up slightly, and his voice was so quiet as usual, "What's the hurry? If you really have the ability, you won't rely on me to deal with that family. If you want Morris Properties back, you must first do your own job."
Emily always felt that he was intentional, and as expected, she could feel it from his hands.☐☐☐☐☐☐
