Chapter 84
Hudson looked at Finley, then Keith, an eyebrow arching, demanding them to tell him what those snippets Finley asked him were about.
He had been busy looking for potential partners to replace the severance of Angelworld's cooperation with La Jewel, but nothing ever came close to satisfaction.
How could he be satisfied looking at other designs when, all this while, he had been working with Angel, the best jewelry designer in the world, and Katerine Sterling, her second in command?
Furthermore, his mind was filled with finding ways of apologizing to Cherise, and with his other workload, it was already good enough that he had time to sleep, much less look at social media.
“You haven't seen it?” Finley gasped exaggeratedly as if Hudson had committed a crime for not having seen those snippets.
Hudson shrugged, but his curiosity was piqued and he started typing the Angelworld Jewelry’ website address into his laptop as Finley and Keith rounded up behind him to rewatch them with him.
The page loaded, and Hudson stared at what seemed to be a campaign for “True Love’ The page's background was now a wall of colorful flowers instead of its usual elegant purple and black, and in the middle were the words “True Love’ with a play button to be clicked.
“They started this a week ago, and with each day, they added more snippets,” Finley said excitedly. “Everyone is going crazy to watch the two campaigns.”
“Two?” Hudson's eyebrows furrowed together. Usually, companies only used one campaign for their products, so this information intrigued him even more.
“Yup!” Finley nodded. “The snippets changed between those two, and...”
“And what?” Hudson looked at Finley, getting impatient.
“Just play it," Finley was so excited to see Hudson's astonished face that he wouldn't want to spoil the rest. “Just click play and watch it."
Hudson turned to Keith, who only shrugged in response before he finally settled his gaze on his laptop screen again and clicked on the play button.
The first scene was something out of a historical romance movie, with female guests mingling wearing Victorian ball gowns and masks while the male guests wore suits from the same era down to top hats.
The scene changed before Hudson could question his two best friends about what was special about it.
This time, he was sure it was a modern-day campaign in a plain studio with a black background, showing only the lower body of a female and male passing by each other, with the woman wearing a long white modern-day A-line gown. In contrast, the man wore a modern-day tailored three-piece white suit.
The sudden change was so contrasting it left Hudson speechless in a good way.
Before he could process the change, the scene reverted to the Victorian era, this time showing the back of a man with a white suit and gold tassels - a prince, he thought, and was surprised when the man turned toward the camera and showed Tristan Hart's face. Hudson nodded. He knew the effect Tristan had on women, and to dress him as a prince was an excellent move for Angelworld.
The scene changed again into the modern-day one, and this time, Hudson was dumbstruck when he saw Logan Jennings extending his hand toward the camera.
He would never have thought a CEO would partake in a campaign. He didn't think he would do it even if he were offered a lot of money. He was a CEO, not a model.
Before he could express his thoughts, he watched as the scene changed to Tristan dancing with a woman in the middle of the ballroom; the guests surrounded them, giving them wide space for their waltz.
Then, as he had expected, the scene changed to Logan bringing a feminine hand to his lips, his expression gentle, and Hudson saw the black band on the woman's ring finger and also the thin vine-like black bangle on her wrist ~ a part of the “True Love’ collection.
Hudson was immersed by the changing of scenes and had expected another scene to appear, but was disappointed when the next one only showed letterings with flowers as background and also another with black letters and white background.
He nearly didn't care about them until the words caught his eyes — True Love: A Cinderella Story and True Love: Angel x Logan Jennings.
The latter was the one that caught his eye.
“Angel?”
“Yeah, we think the woman modeling with Logan is Angel” Finley said, and Hudson realized he had spoken his question out loud.
“You think she'll show her face?” Hudson asked, doubting it because other than for her intricate and unique designs, she was also famous for being mysterious.
No one had seen her, and those who had met her were very tight-lipped, so no one really knew what she looked like.
There were many speculations about her appearance. Most people thought she was unattractive, and thus, she never showed her face.
Others speculated Angel was Katherine Sterling's stage name, and Hudson once thought the same as them until he saw Katherine's designs, which, although beautiful, were different from Angel's.
“Everyone is waiting for the full campaigns,” Keith told him lazily.
“When will they be shown?” Hudson asked.
“It said one o'clock today on their website and social media account,” Keith pointed out. “Women are already preparing to fight to place an order”
Was Angelworld going for war-type ordering?
Hudson looked at his expensive, limited edition watch and saw they still had an hour until the campaigns would be released.
He looked at his laptop screen again and clicked the “how to order’ button. It showed a detailed explanation and an example of a form to fill in.
Each customer would need to click on each picture of the jewelry they wanted and add it to their carts so it would show how many pieces of each piece of jewelry were left in real-time. Once they had successfully paid and gotten an email, they would then need to fill out the form for their measurements and addresses.
Out of curiosity, he clicked the catalogs for the Cinderella Tale and Logan's one and realized Angelworld had divided the catalog into two.
The more mature and classic ones were placed under Angel x Logan, while Tristan’s campaign contained designs that were more unique.
Both catalogs contained the quantity they would produce for each piece of jewelry, which was clearly a trick for customers to click fast to get what they wanted, or they would lose out on getting the pieces of jewelry.
He couldn't help but marvel at the new CEO of the Angelworld Jewelry's brain.
She would be the person behind this collection’s marketing - from how they used two campaigns featuring Tristan, Logan, and Angel to how the customers needed to fight to buy what they wanted.
He suddenly felt dejected that they had terminated their contracts. Maybe one day he could meet this new CEO and change her mind, he thought. It would be great to work with someone with a great mind like hers.
Then he thought about Cherise again. She was now the personal assistant of the new CEO. Could she help him in getting a meeting with her?
He smiled bitterly because he knew the answer would be a hard “no’. She even told him the CEO hated men like him who cheated on their spouses. But then Angelworld Jewelry's CEO must have known he never cheated on Cherise after his press conference. So, might he stand a chance to meet her?
Hudson sighed and shook his head. After what he, his mother, Polly, Emel, the staff at Moonlight Villa, and his friends had done to Cherise, he couldn't possibly ask her for a favor regardless of what the outcome would be.
Even if he showed her how sincere he was, it would look like he was only using her to geta meeting with Angelworld’s CEO, and then whatever efforts he would make to earn her forgiveness in the future would be just futile attempts.
Hudson scrolled through both catalogs again and sighed in relief when he didn't see the couple rings Cherise had designed for them.
He had, for so many times, wanted to wear the ring ever since he realized his feelings, but he knew it wasn't the time yet. After he declared his love for her, then he could wear it.
“Hey, can we ask Miles to order some lunch while we wait for the full campaigns to be uploaded?” Finley's question snapped Hudson's mind back to reality.
Hudson caught Keith assessing him and offered him a smile to assure his best friend that he was fine, even though he knew Keith must have seen dark circles under his eyes due to his lack of sleep.
He pressed a button on the intercom on his desk, and a minute later, Miles appeared to take their lunch orders.
“Cherise, oh my God!" Paula squealed and hugged her the moment Cherise stepped into the Alster Mansion.
She had just returned from her outing with Julian and Logan to get presents for Agatha, whose birthday banquet would be held in four days, and she needed to get back to Country B in two days to make sure everything was okay with the orders for the “True Love’ collection.
Cherise hugged her back, realizing that her grandpa, Katherine, Tristan, and all the staff were gathered in the Great Hall.
“Did something happen?” she asked curiously.
“Darling, did you forget that today was the launch of the “True Love’ collection?” Katherine asked with that seductive singsong voice of hers.
Cherise laughed and said, “Of course not. So, how did it go? Did they wipe out everything?” She didn’t know if the collection was sold out or not as she had silenced her phone during her shopping time, so even if Neil called her, she wouldn't pick it up.
“You are a genius!” Tristan came forward and placed kisses on her face, making Cherise push him away in fake disgust. “You just realized I'm a genius now?" She glared at him.
Tristan laughed and hugged her. “Of course not. You are my Queen!”
Cherise elbowed him on his ribs for hinting about them being hackers. He let out a painful voice, and Cherise rolled her eyes. She didn’t even hit him that hard.
“Congratulations!” Suddenly, everyone exclaimed, and she heard the popping sound of party poppers, and she was rained down by confetti.
Cherise couldn't contain her joyful laughter. “So it was a success?” She turned around to ask Julian and Logan. They would have gotten a report by now.
Both of them nodded and took turns hugging her, praising her for a work well done.
Her grandpa also looked proudly at her. “Good job on your first assignment, Cherise.”
“Thank you, Grandpa.” She smiled and hugged him.
After the first snippet was released, she talked to her grandpa, Julian, and Logan and made some changes on their marketing strategy and the way on how customers should order, and she was glad it had worked out.
She then looked at the rest of the staff, thanking them for their help during the campaign production.
Then Cherise laughed again when their butler pushed out a five-tier celebration cake. She, once again, felt happy to be surrounded by people who loved and supported her.
In Hudson's office, the three best friends were silent after they watched the full versions of the campaigns.
Hudson's eyes were still glued to the laptop screen, staring at it unblinkingly while Finley and Keith stood at his side.
Keith cleared his throat and broke the silence in the room. “Well, that was....interesting." Interesting was an understatement, but he felt it was the right word to describe what they had just seen.
His words seemed to snap Finley's mind as he exclaimed next, “I can't believe Cherise was the Cinderella!”
