Chapter 1256
Chapter 1256 Negotiating Terms
Upon seeing the expression on Megan's face, Alex knew she was about to make a move on him. This being his first encounter with a demon, he couldn't afford to be the slightest bit careless.
"How about we talk about this? There's still room for negotiation, isn't there?" Alex was still trying to buy more time, looking for a chance to slip away.
To his surprise, Megan ignored him completely. All Alex saw was Megan's figure suddenly disappearing from his sight, only to appear in front of him the next second. Immediately after, Alex felt a pain in his stomach and found himself flying through the air.
That powerful force sent Alex flying far away with just a single punch. It was the first time Alex had ever seen such a strong force being exerted with just one punch.
Before, he thought he had a twenty percent chance of survival. Now, that probability had plummeted to five percent.
The people from Mountain of the Beasts were truly devious. They couldn't defeat him, so they resorted to underhanded tactics and pitted a demon against him.
Kidnapping Stanley was merely a ruse. Their true intention was to lure Alex out and seize the opportunity to kill him.
Even if Alex had realized what had happened, it was too late. The only option left for him was to figure out a way to deal with Megan.
Alex, clutching his stomach, stood up from the ground and proposed, "Why are you so intent on killing me? Is there no room for negotiation? I have something valuable. Can I use it as a bargaining chip for you. to spare my life?"
Originally, Megan was planning to continue dealing with Alex, hoping to kill him quickly. However, as soon as she heard what Alex said, she immediately became interested.
"Tell me, what exactly do you have that could persuade me to spare your life?" Megan said with a smile.
Her smile seemed unfathomable, making it impossible for anyone to discern what she was truly thinking. Alex wouldn't have believed the demon was the same entity as the Megan in the formation if they didn't look alike and he hadn't witnessed her transformation.
The difference between the two versions of the same entity was too vast. Megan, while trapped in the demon-trapping formation, appeared innocent and harmless. However, at that moment, she was a terrifying demon. Alex had considered all possibilities, but he had never thought that she could be the problem. With her acting skills and current expression, Alex felt that even if he had negotiated terms with her, he still wouldn't have had a chance of survival.
Originally, he had planned to use the
blue crystal he obtained from the Greaves family as a bargaining chip to save his own life. However, it
seemed that if he were to give itto Megan, not only would he fail to save his life, but he would also be enhancing her power. His loss would outweigh the gain.
"Actually, I have plenty of good stuff. It's just that I don't have them with me right now. Can you give me some time to go home and get them? I'll bring everything to you later," Alex said with a smile.
At that life-or-death moment, maintaining his dignity was the least of his worries. Knowing that he couldn't win in a fight, he could only look for other ways to survive.
"So, you've been playing me all
along! I'm going to tear you to pieces
and devour your soul, leaving you no chance of reincarnation!" Megan was furious and embarrassed. She couldn't tolerate being deceived by Alex.
Alex didn't expect Megan would actually get angry. At that point, whatever he said wouldn't make a difference. All he could do was figure out how to survive her wrath!
Megan's figure vanished once again. Having already experienced that, Alex observed his surroundings very vigilantly. With the help of Jade, his spiritual energy exceeded that of a second-phase Grandmaster. Even so, Alex still couldn't pinpoint exactly where Megan was until he felt a pain in his shoulder.
His clothes were torn by Megan's claws and three deep bloody marks were left on his shoulder. Fresh blood seeped from the wounds, soaking the rest of his clothing.
Megan could have easily torn Alex to pieces, but she chose to torment him in that way instead.
Without showing any signs of weakness, Alex launched his Thunder Palm attack toward the spot where Megan was standing. Megan's reaction was faster than lightning, and she easily dodged the attack. "Initially, I wanted to have fun with you, but now, I find you boring. I should finish you off quickly. Then, I'm going to murder everyone in this city, turning it into a ghost town!" Megan said coldly.
Suddenly, Megan's gaze turned toward the location of Alex's heart. In a snap, she disappeared from his sight.
Knowing that she was serious about killing him, Alex realized he was no match for Megan. However, he couldn't just stand idly by and wait for his doom.
At that moment, the rooftop door
swung open, and an elderly man dressed in priest's robes walked in Seeing the situation before him, he didn't hesitate at all to throw the
octagonal mirror in his hand toward Megan's back.
