Chapter 1245
Chapter 1245 News
Not knowing where to go, Alex found himself sitting at the entrance of the Elysian Guild. He waited from dawn till dusk, but no one came his way.
Just as he was about to leave and find a place to rest before coming back the next day, a figure caught his attention.
Upon seeing someone approaching, he thought it was someone from the Elysian Guild returning. Instantly alert, he swiftly approached the person and, without hesitation, grabbed them by the neck. With a fiery gaze and a chilling tone, he demanded, "Tell me, where have you taken my son? Why are you deliberately hiding from me after I've arrived? What exactly is your purpose?"
The person being choked by Alex struggled desperately, trying to pry open the latter's hands, but no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't break free.
It wasn't until a moment later that Alex realized the person he was choking was just an ordinary man. After all, if it had been someone from the Elysian Guild, they wouldn't have been so defenseless. This person has no trace of Mortal Force within him. I can't believe I almost ended up choking him to death...
As soon as Alex released his grip, the man began coughing violently and staggered back several steps, looking at Alex with fear in his eyes.
"W-Who are you? I have no quarrel with you, so why did you attack me?" the man said timidly, his eyes filled with terror as he stared at Alex.
The man's reaction seemed genuine, and it didn't appear to be something he could fake. Alex was now almost certain that the person in front of him was just an ordinary man.
Since the man wasn't from the Mountain of the Beasts, Alex couldn't fathom the purpose of the man's late-night visit. Perplexed, he inquired, "Why are you here at this hour instead of resting at home?"
"I... I'd like nothing more than to rest peacefully at home, too, but I can't stay there anymore. So, I came to the Mountain of the Beasts, hoping that Elysian Master could help me get rid of that filthy thing!" The man's face was filled with helplessness as he explained.
At first, Alex didn't want to get involved in this matter, but he couldn't shake the feeling that there might be some connection between the two incidents. Otherwise, why would this person choose to come to the Mountain of the Beasts when nobody else is around and I happened to be here?
His gaze fell on the man, scrutinizing him carefully. Even though it was getting late, it didn't affect his vision in the slightest.
The man's attire was quite ordinary. He was in his twenties, an age when one should be full of vitality, but he looked somewhat disheveled. The dark circles under his eyes indicated long-term sleep deprivation, and his figure seemed somewhat emaciated.
"What happened at your home? Would you mind sharing with me?" Alex asked the man.
The man looked at Alex with a wary expression, unsure of the latter's intentions. In his heart, he didn't believe Alex to be a good person, especially after Alex had nearly strangled him to death just moments ago.
"W-Who are you? Why are you here in this place? Are you from the Mountain of the Beasts?" the man tentatively asked.
After a moment's thought, Alex realized that the locals here held a great deal of trust and respect for the people of the Mountain of the Beasts. He figured that if he wanted to uncover what exactly had happened in the man's home, he would need to use the reputation of the Mountain of the Beasts to his advantage.
“Indeed, I am from the Mountain of the Beasts. If there's anything you need, just tell me. I'll do my best to help you," Alex assured the man.
The man remained cautious and gave Alex a wary look. "If you're truly from the Mountain of the Beasts, why would you be hanging out here like this? Besides, you said something about your son earlier... I don't trust you. I'll come back tomorrow instead!"
The man glanced at Alex, preparing to turn and leave. The memory of Alex suddenly grabbing his throat still lingered in his mind.
"Wait, don't leave just yet! What do I have to do to convince you that I'm from the Mountain of the Beasts?" Alex said somewhat helplessly.
In truth, he was starting to feel like he didn't want to get involved in this matter anymore. However, before his mind was fully made up, he received yet another text message from the mysterious number on his phone.
The message read: If you want to know your son's whereabouts, then help him solve the problems at home.
Upon seeing the message, Alex reckoned that the "him" referred to in the text could only be this timid man in front of him. There seemed to be no other option for Alex but to help the man now. This was the first time Alex found himself hurrying to help someone like this.
"Then show me what you're capable of! What if the person I've invited home is nothing but a swindler, who not only fails to solve the problem but makes it even worse?" the man said skeptically.
After contemplating for a moment, Alex's gaze settled on the entrance of the Mountain of the Beasts. With a mischievous grin, he said, "You wanted to see if I'm the real deal or just a fraud pretending to be from the Mountain of the Beasts, didn't you? Well, I'll show you right now!"
As he spoke, he launched a powerful strike at the tightly closed gates of the Elysian Guild. With a thunderous crash, the gates were shattered, leaving a hole large enough for an adult to walk through the Elysian Guild.
