Chapter Sudden Attack
[Arissa's POV]
Swirling pleasure filled faces, snarling in lust danced before my eyes as heat rushed through my body, followed by cold. The world was warped into some type of dark dream and no matter how I tried to escape I couldn't.
With each moan and groan I felt myself growing more and more numb. I was Oretty sure my heat was almost over and all I could do was suffer through this until it came to an end.
"Arissa,” a sweet, tempting voice whispered. "Are you awake?"
Looking around, I spotted a faint light and in that light was the person speaking.
"Arissa?"
Something about the voice was familiar and calming, but I couldn't quite make out who it was. Determined to figure out, I began to claw my way forward through the wraiths that clawed at my skin, trying to keep me with them.
As I drew closer, the person grew clearer and clearer, until I could see that it was Ivan and he was surrounded by a warm light that combatted the dark encasing me.
"Ivan?" I managed through pain filled lips. "What is this?"
The dark was beginning to disappear and in its place was my bathroom, which was lit by candlelight.
"Are you awake?" van murmured much too close to my ear.
Was I? I wasn't too sure. How was it possible that being here in his arms after my heat wasn't a dream?
"I think I'm still having a dream.” I sighed, beginning to move only to discover that I was chest deep in freezing water.
Coming fully too, I jumped up, easily escaping Ivan's arms that encompassed me and looking around.
"What the hell is this?" I asked.
As I examined the area, I lifted my wrists to find the cuffs I had used still there, but the chain holding them together busted.
"What about the blood moon?"
Panic began to rise as I ran out of the bathroom and looked out the window.
Outside, the ground was covered in a thin layer of dew and the sky blazed a brilliant redish pink, indicating that the sun was beginning to rise.
"I suggest you step away from there." Ivan called, appearing in the bathroom doorway, dripping wet.
"What?"
Looking down I let a gasp escape me as I dropped to the floor, wrapping my arms around myself. "YOU ASSHOLE!"
I could feel tears beginning to prick at my eyes as different scenarios, each worse than the last flashed across my mind.
"How could you?" I gasped, feeling fresh tears trickle down my cheeks.
I wanted to believe that Ivan wouldn't do anything to me, but the marks on my skin and the condition of my clothes stated otherwise.
"How could you?" I repeated, trying to stop my tears. "What happened to not forcing me?"
"I didn’t do anything." Ivan snapped, his eyes flashing in anger. "How about you examine your surroundings before accusing people of heinous acts.”
Confused, I swiped at my eyes while looking around. For a moment I didn't see anything, but then I spotted them laying on the floor with no shirts and their pants halfway down.
Did this mean that Ivan's guards were the ones who did this? Then....
"Did they?" I couldn't bring myself to finish. I had fought so hard to not give in and now...
"They didn't." I confirmed, sending a wave of relief rushing through me. "Although if they had it would have been your own fault.”
"What?" How the hell would it be my fault?
"What were you thinking trapping yourself?" Ivan snapped.
"I was trying to avoid leaving my room." I growled, bristling. "It was you who put them there.” How could he sit here and try to put this on me? No one told him to treat me like a criminal again! "Why were they even there?" I hissed, slowly standing. "You worried I will go after your men?"
I thought he was done confining me, but it seemed his kindness was all an act. His actions the night of the dinner proved that all too well.
"I believe the proper thing to say right now is thank you." Ivan sighed. "I saved your virtue from my guards and even spent the entire night keeping you under control."
I opened my mouth to respond, just as my the door to my room burst open and Ivan's beta, Hans, came rushing in with a look of horror.
"What is it?" Ivan asked, immediately blocking me from view. "Why are you here?"
"There's been an attack!" Hans puffed, paling as he realized my current state of dress. "I-i didn't mean to..."
"It's fine.” Ivan cut him off. "What is this about an attack?"
"The sanctuary. The hunters went after the elders!"
What... wait... did he just really say that the hunters had the balls to go after the highest ranking wolves there were?
"Hans, you better not be wrong." Ivan warned, his aura beginning to flare. "Would the hunters be brave enough to actually do that?"
"They were and there have been casualties reported.” Hans confirmed shakily.
"Get dressed." Ivan commanded, suddenly turning to face me. "You're coming with me to the sanctuary
"What?" Did he really just say I was going with him? "Me?"
"Yes," Ivan responded simply. "You've got five minutes.”
"Alpha, do you think that's a good idea?" Hans asked eyeing me.
If I was in the right state of mind, I may have suddenly felt self-concious about Hans questioning my worth. But since I wasn't it didn't bother me. I was angry and needed a way to blow off steam. What better way to do that then to kick some ass.
"I'l be back in a jiffy.” I announced, turning and skipping away.
"Alpha," I heard Hans murmur as I dipped into the bathroom. "Is she okay?"
"She's fine." Ivan responded in amusement.
Smiling to myself, I quickly ripped off my tattered clothes and threw on a pair of black pants and a white shirt. Throwing my hair up in a ponytail, I headed back into the room where both men waited for me.
"Well then.” I beamed, stepping into my boots. "Let's go beat up on some hunters."
